Fogresinger Artifice and Contraption Manufacture
Angled walls of riveted metal, shaped stone, and impossibly thick glass make this the most well fortified building in town, but even through thick walls the sound of driving, otherworldly music permeates this place through and through. A small painted sign driven into the dirt by the door states, "This establishment refuses to serve Gumpert Snood. You know what you did." Inside, the music is almost ear-splittingly loud in order to be heard over the sound of heavy tools and hard work. The sources of the music are a series of odd cone-shaped contraptions of Harmony's own design placed at strategic locations throughout her shop to make sure that no place inside the building is safe from her rhythmic cacophony. When she's not in the back room working on something, Harmony can't keep herself from dancing to the strange music, a violent, tribal dance punctuated by punches, kicks and stomps.

The interior of the front room is, despite the noise and the imposing exterior, surprisingly pleasant. Every accouterment is neatly organized and expertly manufactured with scores of bizarre and previously unimaginable products on display, each organized by type, clearly labeled and priced to move. However, a glowing sign hanging on the wall near a few patched holes and lingering burn marks warns curious customers to keep their hands to themselves if they are unsure about something.

Another, much smaller wooden sign suggests that 'boring' weapons and armor are also available upon request, but only upon request, and can be ready within two hours.

Weapons
Label and Listed PriceDescription
Collapsing Rapier 419 GA small cylinder just a little larger than a folding razor with a long curved lever on one side. This isn't a rapier at all.
Reciprocating Zweihander 2,700 GA vicious-looking Greatsword with hundreds of small jagged teeth attached all along both sides of the thick blade.
Switching Blade 415 GA highly decorated Shortsword with a segmented blade that looks like it might be designed to come apart.
Pulley SpringBow 900 G Available in many attractive colors and styles. Don't see it? Ask!A Shortbow with an array of pulleys and metal springs designed to increase the string tension. An array of small clips keep five arrows within quick and easy reach.
Cross-Bola 115 GA crossbow that looks like it was designed to fire intricate metal spheres instead of bolts. Could probably also be used to sling flasks of alchemical substances in a pinch.
Bola Spheres 15 GExpensive for ammunition, but apparently reusable. The metal spheres unfold into long tangles of weighted wires, designed to trip or disarm instead of deal damage.
Clockwork Pistol 800 G My most popular weapon. Lessons and ammunition extra.A durable-looking squarish steel pistol with a short barrel sticking out of the front. Comes complete with three hollow steel rectangles and a leather belt holster.
Breechloading Double Rifle 1,400 GAn ornate musket with a second barrel under the first and a fat hinge in front of the trigger that seems to make the whole thing break in half.
Clockwork Rifle 2,000 GA long, heavy Steel and Brass firearm with a large flat cylinder hanging from the bottom. Judging by the extra cylinder included with the rifle, they detach and can be replaced for some reason.
Metal Cartridges 15 G each or 10 for 100 G. Slug and Pellet both available. Will accept Barter.
Raycaster 20,000 G DO NOT TOUCH WITHOUT PERMISSIONSuperficially this resembles the other long firearms, but looks heavier and more imposing. The weapon has been polished to a mirror shine, and seems to radiate a dangerous aura. Apparently comes with three tin canisters the size of potion flasks.
Baby Raycaster 10,000 GA smaller, stubbier version of the Raycaster that looks like you might be able to use it in one hand.
Spark Cartridge 100 GThe flask-sized tin canisters required for some of the Weapons and devices Harmony sells.
Weapons are not currently magical, but can be enchanted to suit for a fee.

Protection
Label and Listed PriceDescription
Deploying Shield 70 GThis appears to be more of a thick segmented cestus than a shield. A small lever that reaches to the palm provides some clue to its function.
Volcanic Lodestone Box 200 G IF YOU ACTIVATE THIS INSIDE, I WILL BE VERY UPSET. GUMPERT.A mirrored cube about the size of a fist split down the middle into two halves that look like they spin independently. Small arrows are carved into each half on opposite sides.
Survival jacket 1,000 GA jointed mannequin in a dynamic pose is clothed only in a thick leather jacket with metal plates attached in strategic locations. Several well-drawn illustrations on the wall behind it allude to the various life-saving functions the jacket provides, including fall protection, drowning prevention, and fire resistance. Convenient pockets and flaps about the garment allow small equipment to be stored more efficiently.
Snap-on Armor (light) 2,000 GA wooden armor stand wearing a segmented mithral breastplate has the same label as another stand wearing a flat metal box in the small of its back on a leather harness.
Snap-on Armor (Heavy) 16,500 GThese two stands seem to be supporting an adamantine breastplate and a set of streamlined adamantine full plate manufactured in the same style and with the same filigree on the chest.
Disk of Light Bracer 6,400 GA thick arm guard with a circular protrusion covered in small blue and black lenses. It has a slot to attach a Spark Cartridge near the elbow.
Tower of Light Bracer 6,700 GA bulkier, more heavily reinforced version of its younger brother.
Armors are not currently magical, but can be enchanted to suit for a fee.

Tools and Gizmos
Label and Listed PriceDescription
Mix & Match Tools, Sold by the pound!Several bins and barrels full of assorted tools next to a fish scale. If you dug through here for a few minutes, you could probably assemble a masterwork kit at half the price.
Spark Torch 30 GA metal cylinder roughly the length of a sword handle and about as thick. There's a lens on one end, a slot for a Spark Cartridge on the other, and a button in the middle.
Sculpting Ribbon 100 G / 50 ftSeveral fifty-foot rolls of two-inch-wide silk ribbon in varying colors are stacked about this table. Also on the table is an abstract sculpture made of what appears to be a hard, satiny ceramic painted in two-inch-wide colorful stripes.
Adventurer's Any-Tool 250 GThis doesn't appear to be much more than a steel bar with a bunch of nonsense hinges and panels all over it.
Clicker 20 G Each (Free with purchase of Sculpting Ribbon)This wooden bin is full of small metal rectangles with a button on one end and a pair of short copper prongs on the other. Some have designs stamped on them such as the Pathfinder Society logo, a Dagger, a Paw Print, or a different letter of the Varisian Aplphabet.
Pneumatic Raft 3,600 GA squat orange package about the size of a bedroll. There's a black handle sticking out of one side and two wooden folding oars on the shelf next to it.
Sound Keeper 500 GBecause of their small size, expensive cost, and incredible utility, these tiny, flat, rectangular objects are usually kept behind the counter where the local children can't make off with them. A Sound Keeper is capable of Holding up to 20 hours of sound or 200 separate sounds. If you hadn't guessed; Harmony uses hers for music, but animal calls, conversations, bedtime stories, magic item activation words, spoken alchemical recipes or any other variety of sound can be stored inside and then recalled at any time.
Loudener 250 GThese accursed things are where the music in Harmony's shop comes from. According to the tag, you can speak into one, and be as loud as ten men, or you can hook it up to your Sound Keeper for public performances.
Grappling Harpoon Launcher 4,000 GWhy isn't this with the weapons? This is clearly a fat rifle with a geared reel on it and a clawed arrow sticking out of the barrel. Weapon.
Numerian Far-talker 5,000 G each or 8,000 G for a pairA rectangular box with a wire mesh grid on the front, a tiny numbered wheel on one side and an orange button on the other. Pulling on a small, silver nub on the top causes a foot-long shiny metal shaft to extend from the device. Waving it around doesn't seem to do anything but make Harmony frown at you.

The Back room is less organized, but an even greater feast for the eyes. Tools of varying types, some being small wonders in their own right, and others the size of forges and kilns are strewn about within easy reach of the many manifold half-completed projects that adorn the populous worktables and benches that fill every corner of the room but one. In that corner, outlined by a small floral carpet, is Harmony's living space. A messy but unused cot, a small but wondrously complex stove, and a well-worn easy chair, are surrounded on all sides by a horde of mismatched and overloaded wooden bookshelves.
If Harmony allows you to use her workshop, her advanced tools and methods grant a +5 equipment bonus on any craft check, if Harmony herself assists you, also add a +3 aid-another bonus.
Researching in her library for an hour allows a character to gain a +3 to any one Knowledge Engineering check or on a Spellcraft check to identify the properties of a magic item, or to reroll a failed Knowledge: Engineering check or a Spellcraft check to identify the properties of a magic item.

The center of the room is currently dominated by a large, cylindrical machine of arcane purpose. Rows of polished volcanic-glass lenses line the top, each the size of a dinner plate, held aloft by a partially-disassembled armature, it's magical and mechanical guts spilled out in a neatly-kerned mess next to a large tool chest.
(Knowledge: Engineering or Spellcraft check to identify the purpose of this device. if you have ranks in both, you receive a +5 competence bonus on this check.)

Harmony deftly unlocked her shop and opened the thick door as if it weighed nothing. The cavernous darkness of the inside dissipated immediately as Harmony walked in, light seeming to follow her into the building from outside and energizing the strange fixtures on the ceiling. Shortly after, the silence of the room was broken as well; music that could be made by no worldly instrument started softly before suddenly settling into a heavy, driving beat that seemed to feed Harmony, making her stand up straighter and move with greater confidence.

She began collecting things from the various shelves and tables in the front of her shop and placing them in neat piles on the metal counter, simply allowing Uru to walk about the shop and examine what he wanted as she gathered. When she was finished she stood behind the counter, bobbing and jolting to the music waiting for the half-orc to approach when he was finished.

In front of her she had two orange bundles the rough size and shape of a bedroll, several folded wooden oars, a collection of large spools of colorful ribbon, and a small pile of dull metal trinkets.

Urukabar looked over the collection of devices, checking the helpfully attached label tags.  "Hmm."  He muttered.  "Interesting.  Thank you.  Two, uh, minor problems, however.  The first is that I have no idea what any of this does.  The second is that I can't afford to buy any of it, and I probably never will."

He glanced up at the strange giant woman apologetically.  "The first problem is easily solved, of course.  The second...well.  That's up to you."

"i see," Harmony spoke at a more normal volume here in her own space, "the second problem is as easily solved as the first. but i will offer solutions in order."

She pointed to the two orange packages, "these are pneumatic rafts. they will unfold and fill with air when the black handle on the side is pulled. they will return to their stored state when the handle is pulled again and have enough charge to inflate and deflate five times each, after that you will have to do it manually, which is an arduous task."

The large spools of ribbon were next, "this is sculpting ribbon, there is an adhesive on one side so you can use it to secure objects," to demonstrate she tore a square of bright cloth off of the roll and stuck it to the back of Urukabar's hand. She then picked up one of the dull metal trinkets with the prongs on one side and the button on the other.

"but the true wonder of sculpting ribbon is that you can activate it with a clicker," what almost could have been pride or excitement crept into her monotone, "and it will harden. the pathfinders used it to mark trails, but the uses are literally endless." She placed the clicker to the orange square of cloth and with a -click- the ribbon hardened into a glossy armor plate, adhering to Uru's hand with unnatural force. "a second click will deactivate it. the initial adhesive will not last, but you can re-use ribbon as much as you like, and it will adhere once active."

Holding the clicker itself up she spoke about it, "these can make a big enough spark to start a fire, so be careful, but some people like to use them for that, so i guess it is a feature and not an error."

Leaving the square attached to the half-orc's hand she stooped to retrieve some paper and a pen from below the counter, "i will write an invoice for what you take. if you do not return alive, i will send either king nirnrich or bonnibel the bill for lost equipment. if you do come back, i will charge for what you consumed during your mission and a small rental fee for the use of the equipment you return. does that sound fair to you?"

"So...let me get this straight because maybe I don't really understand this right.  You're saying that if I take your offer, and this..."  He placed a hand on the folded up raft.  "Flimsy, non-magical boat sinks, I'll be giving you my entire wage for the next 30 years?"  Urukabar laughed, genuinely amused at the absurdity of the offer.  "You've got sand, Forgesinger.  I like that!  But I'll have to pass on that offer."

Maybe they could convince Cyrus to take the deal?  Buying a boat might seem too much like basic preparation for that brute's taste, but he might do it just to show off how much braver he was than Urukabar...

"No, it's King Howie's land and Bonny's pathfinders that we're going to be risking our lives over, so Bon and the King can risk the coin.  Send them the bill for anything we can't bring back."

20:42, Today: Urukabar rolled 15 using 1d20+4.  diplomacy?

Harmony nodded,  " that is true i do have sand, i use it to smelt glass. i am happy that you like it. "

She thoughtfully considered Uru's offer...   Opposed Barter ... 14! You win this time, Son of Nevermind

"that solution makes sense. i accept your terms.  however, if they do not render payment it will be the possessor of the equipment thst I seek. is this amenable? "  She offered her hand to seal the offer.

"'Possessor the equipment?'  Meaning me?  Or if the raft sinks, will you try to get your money from the bottom of the river?  Because I'd put your chances of payment at about the same either way."  Since Harmony was clearly very literal minded, it was probably best to put things into completely clear terms:

"By that, I mean none.  No chance.  I'm not paying 3600 gp- seventy pounds of gold- for a small rubber raft.  I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just laying it out there so we both know what's happening.  If you can find some other way to finance it, then yes the raft would be nice to have.  If not..."  Uru sighed.  "Then I'll take an axe, 100' feet of rope, and a piece of chalk.  And one of those magic ribbons.  Those I can see being worth the money.  But I can build myself a raft out of logs without going into debt for the rest of my life."

Harmony's features twitched ever so slightly.  She then calmly walked over to the weapons display and picked up a pistol and one metal shell, loading the weapon in an expert motion that involved tossing up the round and then catching it in the gun, "i dislike the lack of faith you possess in my manufacturing techniques. perhaps a practical demonstration is in order. "

She strode back to the counter and without warning or ceremony fired directly into one of the rafts.  The bang echoed about the shop for a moment before the music overtook the ringing in Uru's ears.

The raft had Jumped off the counter and folded, but as Harmony retrieved it, a small lead flower fell to the shop floor.  She presented the bundle to Uru for inspection,  the folded raft was undamaged. " if you are capable of sinking the raft, i will eat a hat, as the saying goes. "

"...Impressive."  Urukabar stated, looking over the undamaged device.  "More than impressive.  It's almost unbelievable that you could create something like this without any sort of enchantment!  Is it some sort of...mithral weave, or..." He trailed off.  Mithral manufacture was very rare in Belkzen, available only when some great warrior fell and was looted.  If anything could be so light and strong, it was that fabled metal.

...And Harmony made it into a boat?

"But however impressive it is, it doesn't change the fact that I'm not giving you 3600 gold for a small rubber raft." The shaman rubbed his temples, thinking of a way to solve this issue.  He was honestly enjoying the back and forth of negotiations, as hopeless as it seemed.

"Look.  Clearly the raft isn't going to sink, and I promise I'll take care of it as best I can.  But I think we both know fate can be unkind.  Bad things happen."  Uru rubbed his charred, weakened arms, seemingly unconsciously. "And if bad things happen to that raft and I have to pay for it, my choices are a lifetime of indenture, fleeing town, or...well...murdering you.  Which I wouldn't do!" He added hastily. He probably shouldn't have mentioned that last option.

"My point is, I can't live with any of those.  Not for a raft.  So I'm asking you to take that risk, if my bosses won't.  I know, it's not fair.  But lives may be at stake.  And frankly..."  He gestured around at the stacks of high tech gadgets, with sale prices in the thousands, and tens of thousands, "You already have a fortune in amazing artifacts laying around.  You can afford to risk a few boats."

"Or at least it won't, y'know, ruin your life entirely."

The orc shaman shrugged, all out of arguments to make.  "But like I said earlier: it's up to you.  If you're not up for it, that's fine.  I'll take an axe and a rope and neither of us will owe the other anything.  I'll make my own raft.  I'll get by without help.  I always have so far."

23:48, Yesterday: Urukabar rolled 24 using 1d20+4.  DIPLOMACY.
OOC: Technically, this roll is illegal, since by the book, you can't use diplomacy twice on the same creature on the same day.  So feel free to disregard it or whatever.

GM Note- specifically the 24 hour limitation is on checks to influence attitude. Requesting favors is a separate check with no retry limit.  With Snood and Harmony it was your critical rolls on the request check which influenced their attitudes.

Critical Success! Harmony Forgesinger is now Friendly to Urukabar!

Harmony's mouth widened into the closest thing to a smile that she could manage, "i am happy that you see the quality of manufacture now. if you cannot afford the rafts, then so be it. i will loan them against your good will, but I expect them back.  if that cannot be accomplished, i will hold the king financially responsible. "

She motioned behind him to the mannequin wearing the leather jacket, " and if you are impressed with the monofilamemt weave, the survival coat is reinforced with it. perhaps when you have a larger discretionary budget?  or perhaps we can work something out in barter... i do have many treasures, as you said.  perhaps it would do to be rid of some."

A thought occurred to her and she snapped the fingers on her free hand, the other still holding the pistol, "in fact if you could furnish me with a source of filament, then that would do a great deal to discount both the rafts and the jacket. "

"in the pathfinder forest is a creature known as the jeweled tree spooder it makes webs from the material i make into filament weave. if you could provide me with webbing, I could see to providing you with equipment. i would prefer you leave the spi... spooders alive, though. the filament would become rarer with each one you kill."

Harmony jumped a bit when she realized what she had suggested, her voice just a hair more expressive than it had been a moment ago, " oh, yes. that is not to say that my rafts matter more than lives. i was only expressing a way we could both mutually assist one-another.  if you ever must choose between my equipment and a thinking being, i would hope you would choose to sacrifice the one i can make more of."

She blushed ever so slightly as she began packing up the smaller items in a paper sack, realizing the double entendre that she had made " ...ummm ... what i mean to say is..."

She sighed. She wasn't good at expressing herself outside of making things. She instead eventually decided to just change the subject entirely, "should you encounter a yellowish-silver web about the size of a man, or a metallic arachnid whose body is roughly the size of a chicken and possesses precious gems set into the abdomen, i would appreciate you collecting the web with a stick. persephone and i use a process to render the fiber into a long-chain... nevermind."

She awkwardly held the sack out at arm's length to Uru, having flustered herself, "what i am saying is that it does not matter if it is tangled, because i will melt it."

Again, she allowed herself that almost-smile, "i hope to see you alive once more. i... i understand how difficult it is to start with nothing, and to not have help."

He'd accidentally walked into someone else's workshop uninvited before, and he didn't want to make that mistake again, so he stops near the sign warning people not to touch. He takes a moment to look around, being very mindful of the "No Touching" rule, and looks around for someone who works here.

The sound of ... Well let's call it 'music' ... was constant, straddling the area between noise and a feeling in the chest inside the metal building. A second heartbeat near your own. Grinding, hammering and strange mechanical sounds carried from the open door behind the counter, intentionally timed to be in-tempo with the rythmic racket that pervaded the shop.

As a reward for Orreid's patience, the sounds of work stopped and the sound of foreign instruments faded, but did not leave completely. From the open door emerged a filthy woman in a worn leather apron, goggles, and heavy boots and gloves. Her pants were thick and fireproof, but her shirt was sleeveless and light. Up and down her right arm was an intricate tribal tattoo the same shade of sky blue as the dirty woman's tied-up hair.

She pushed her dark goggles onto her forehead with an orange-hot pair of calpers and blinked pearlescent blue eyes at the sudden light. She bore a neutral expression and spoke with all the force of a gentle breeze, "hello.  how can i help you?"

He opens his backpack... and sighs when he's confronted with a thick mass of mithral wire that's gotten itself all tangled up, a few diminutive weapons poking out at different angles. "I don't suppose you've got a spare pair of gloves I could borrow for a moment please? I wasn't expecting it to be this, well, tangled," he says, giving her a plaintive look.

She looked at the bowling-ball sized mass of pale golden wire and miniscule weapons appraisingly, "do not worry on the state of the wire. i am going to melt it into a single long-chain pseudopolymerous molecule anyway. i appreciate the concern that you have for the quality of the goods you are attempting to sell, though."

"please, use some of the metal tools to handle it instead."
she took off her gloves and handed them directly to Orreid, tossing the hot grippers into a nearby bucket on the floor. She then crossed the room to dig in the barrels of assorted metal tools at the end of the counter, returning with a handful of pliers, lockjaws, tongs, calpers, and channel-locks. "these will prove useful in extracting the other items from the bundle. "

She looked back down at the mess, the beginnings of an emotion crossing her face, "i have ... many questions about the items here. the primary one is the current status of the creatures you retrieved the filament from. the second one is why you have such a great number of tiny implements of war. the others derrive from the answers to the first two, though. Orreid accepts the tools and gently teases the ball of mithral thread out of the bag before setting to work extracting the tiny weapons and armour.

"The thread came from some spooders we met on our way out - we happened to walk into their web lattice. We actually got to talking with them and they're quite polite, if a bit unsettled about someone coming in and eating them. We gave them some ink and paper because one of them was interested in writing stories, and we got some of their mithral thread as well. It's what their webs are made of, so it's a bit sticky too," he says as he works, giving a particularly stuck piece of armour a tug. "They're still alive and I could probably lead you back there if you wanted to visit them yourself."

"The weapons and armour, however, are... well, we were attacked by a horde of squirrels led by a warlord. Viridian's got the aforementioned warlord with her now, injured but alive and effectively prisoner, and Urukabar and Hecate stayed behind to tend to the remains of the squirrel horde. That was where we found Viridian, one of the first group of Pathfinders. We haven't found the rest of them yet - we came back to get Viridian back here and to resupply a bit before continuing on."

By the time he finishes speaking, he's got most of the small weapons and armour out of the mass of mithral and is just finishing up pulling the last few pieces out. "The others that came back are taking care of things, and I figured this was an excellent time to empty my bags. Besides, I got to meet you," he finishes, giving Harmony a smile.

The forgemaster let out a tiny sigh of relief, relaxing visibly as she did. "i am familiar with the incident that is the source of their discomfort. the murder and consumption of my companion spool is the reason that i will not entreat with gumpert snood. he knew that creature was sentient before he killed it, but did so anyway, merely because he wanted their jewels, meat, and filament. "

The rest of what the adventurer had to say concerned her more, though,  so you encountered other creatures as well? and someone named viridian? that is not a name that i know, and I am aware of all pathfinders."

She sighed darkly, "you have told others this information, correct? i am not the first? this news will bring trouble on my friends. i accept that secrecy was not a tenable long-term solution, but i am still sad to see the simple times end."

Her mood relented, not back to her previous neutral expression, but it was less severely distraught, "i am happy to have met you as well, though. i enjoy meeting people very much."

Orreid shakes his head at the mention of Gumpert. "He seems... odd. He's convinced the water here does something to his, like, precious bodily fluids or something..." he comments as he arranges the collection of weapons and armour into something resembling an order.

"Only BB and the guy with the metal nose - and you. I haven't gone around shouting it to everyone, if that's what you're worried about," he says at the question of who he'd told so far. "I haven't gone back... um... Outside either - I'd much rather stay here, really. Much more my speed. Especially with interesting people like you here," he says, looking up at her and smiling again.

His gaze lingers on her for a second too long before he returns to the matter at hand. "So... the things. Obviously you have ideas for the mithral - whatever a pseudopolythmywhatyousaid is - but will the rest of it be useful in some way?"

Harmony returned the gaze, unblinkingly reciprocating. It would be difficult to beat her in a staring contest. She almost smiled, but seemed to be guarding herself against it.

"constable firesoul was one of the individuals whose ignorance of the natives i had hoped to prolong the longest. he is paranoid and frightened easily by the idea of intelligences outside of his limited understanding of sapience. i believe this stems from a traumatic experience in his youth. fortunately, he is under the supervision of king nirnrich, who has a much more accepting history with nonstandard races. the situation will likely end well, but the time period between now and then will be unpleasant for many parties."

She considered the doll weapons carefully, her sharp eyes clearly reflecting them as she picked up and examined each one in turn. "these are ... interesting curiosities, but there is not enough material here for scrap value, and they do not have much practical use to the town, so i would not be able to resell them easily."

"i am willing to offer a sum, but i believe that you would get a better one from king nirnrich. concrete proof of intelligent life would be very important to him, and the study of these items could also yield important cultural information about the group who made them."

She separated two weapons out, a larger wide, hooked sword and a smaller jagged pointy one, leaving the rest of the weapons, armor, and ropes, "i would like to buy these two for my own personal interests, if that is acceptable. i am willing to offer thirty gold coins for the both of them. for the filament, this is roughly five pounds of mithril, and i am willing to buy it for trade value, though the specific quality of this type's biological structure makes it more valuable to myself because of the unique chemical processes persephone and i apply to it."

her eyes grew a moodier blue as she thought, becoming lighter as she returned her gaze to Orreid, "would it be fair to you if i bought the filament at trade value, and then also incentivised your use of that money in my shop by giving you a discount?"

Orreid nods and takes note of her advice. He reaches to put the other weapons away when she separates the two out and makes her offer.

"Hmm... your offer is sensible and I have absolutely no problem with it at all. Yes, I accept it. That does sound good - and if I meet the spooders again and they're feeling especially generous, you'll be the first person I come to with more. Miss Forgesinger, you have a deal!" he exclaims, offering a hand to shake.

She shook Orreid's hand, her grip strong from many years of forge work, despite her wiry frame. "i will begin weighing the filament. is there anything you require for the remainder of your journey? it would likely be easier to exchange this material for goods directly rather than carrying more than a hundred metal coins in a sack, only to hand them back to me at a later time."

Orreid thinks for a moment. "Reasonable, but I do have some other purchases I'll need to make before we go out into the road again, and I'm not sure I'd be able to make all of them here. What have you got that would be useful for explorers? I imagine you'd have something wondrous and clever crafted here..."
