Re: The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

Capt. Marvel points in the general direction of the Latverian embassy, through buildings and blocks away, no closer now than it was before she was here.

She blasts away at the Doombots, clearing a way for Falcon to lift Iron Fist through, but it also serves to attract the robots' attention.

Iron Fist can add Capt. Marvel's Energy Blast d8 to dice pool when traveling with Falcon to embassy.

Re: The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

Though Capt. Marvel stands strong, blasting away at the Doombots with as much dynamism as Havok before her, she only eliminates so many before it becomes apparent that the downed robots are replaced quickly with reinforcements. Also that even while she brings a fresh ferocity in attacking them, they seem to bring the same to their new enemy, putting the Avenger in their sights and raining down force blasts and missiles upon her with renewed vigor. If the heroes had an initial plan for getting out of this mess, the Doombots have stepped in to punish those for not adhering to it.

Physical attack on Captain Marvel:
Team    2d8
Working In Unison    d8
Swarm    d8
Sensors    d8
Concentrated Fire/Energy Blast & Missiles    2d8
SFX: Concentrated Fire. Against a single target, use Energy Blast and Missiles. Remove the highest rolling die and add use three dice for total. Cannot be used in same dice pool as Area Attack.
Combat Expert    d8
From Doom Pool (renewed vigor)    d10

Doombots SC rolled 7,6,4,5,7,6,5,4,3 using d8,d8,d8,d8,d8,d8,d8,d8,d10 ((7,6,4,5,7,6,5,4,3)).

Total: 19, Effect: d8

Doom Pool: d6, 2d8, 4d10, 2d12 -d10 = d6, 2d8, 3d10, 2d12

Reaction Needed: Captain Marvel

Re: The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

"DOOM." Though the army of flying, blasting Doombots are split among two fronts, their number easily covers both. "DOOM." While the heroes are one side, on the other, across the street and down the block, are the Wrecking Crew, now minus one member but making no less or more progress against their opponents. "DOOM." The setting is that of a violent stalemate: both sides struggle furiously against the other, but while the Doombots are only replaced when one is destroyed by flung debris and matter from the street and nearby buildings, the Wrecking Crew are also only barely scathed by the weapons of the robots. "DOOM." Still, each side fights furiously, with the 'Crew in particular showing a depth of emotion that boarders on desperation. "DOOM." Even if they cannot be physically harmed, the men fight as if there is an oncoming threat, something hiding just behind this swarm of androids, even if not physically. "DOOM." And with every lobbed chunk of asphalt or abandoned car or man-sized hunk of building, the city is further obliterated, continuing a march toward leaving nothing recognizable or usable in the aggrandized destruction. "DOOM."

Grandstanding:+2d8 to Doom Pool, from Doombots S/D & Doombot 6YSN133

Doom Pool: d6, 2d8, 3d10, 2d12 +2d8 = d6, 4d8, 3d10, 2d12

Iron Fist looks at Falcon.  He then looks around to find Havok and check his condition.  Can Iron Fist see Havok, or is there too much debris and chaos to find him?

He then pulls out his phone tucked in his pants and quickly google map's the Latverian Embassy's location.

Energy blasts blaze past Carol as she lays down cover fire, Guys! We need to get out of here now!

A massive barrage of energy fire all hit Carol at once as she was halfway turned towards Iron Fist and the Falcon. The blasts, coming from many different directions at once actually knock Carol around and she almost loses her footing. It reminds her that Doombots are quite possibly the greatest threat on earth as created by one of the finest and most dangerous minds in the universe.

She stands her ground, though as she prepares to get the hell out of here and to the embassy.

With a swift stroke of his wings, the Falcon leaps into the air, just above Iron Fist's head, and wraps his legs around the hero's shoulders, his calves in Iron Fist's armpits, sufficient to leave the flying hero's arms free so that he can get the both of them into the air and maneuver to the embassy. It's an easy, practiced move for the flying hero, but if it's uncomfortable for the martial artist, the Falcon does not seem concerned. "We're on it!" the Falcon mutters, maybe more to himself, but enough for the sound of his voice to rise above the ruckus around them.

Captain Marvel is left with an army of Doombots between her and the embassy, to many to circumvent or go through, but she is able to provide enough cover for the Falcon's flight.

Flying and feinting and evading the Doombots in order to get across the city blocks to the embassy, the Falcon just barely gets the two of them there but they arrive intact. The embassy is a wreck, most of the upper parts of the building having collapsed and spilled out into the street and over the parked cars jammed in traffic. As he sets down Iron Fist, the Falcon takes a cautious look around the wreckage, possibly for survivors, but seeing other heroes rising from the debris and with no other people in the vicinity, must assume that bystanders were vacated and kept from the area when whatever conflict here happened.

Just as Iron Fist stands on his own feet, the Falcon's head whips around, turning toward the rest of the city. He pauses, stays still, then takes to the air. "That's -- I'm going to check something out," he casually calls back without turning back around before he's flying away and out of sight.

Wolverine was able to dodge much of the collapse of the building. Yellowjacket rose above it, most of it sliding off him, burying his feet but easy enough to shrink slightly and step out of the hole. She-Hulk, however, was definitively buried, both under the broken structure and the pile of Doombots that overwhelmed her. The robots do not move, seemingly crushed under the weight of the building, so as there is nothing resisting her, She-Hulk's strength is enough to lift off what is on her, pushing it up and away. Digging through debris is becoming a common occurrence, but at least there are no human bodies this time. It's once She-Hulk is able to rise from the rubble that she realizes why it was, relatively, easy to escape from being buried: the Doombots, those that survived the collapse and are still standing, are frozen. Their eyes glow and their hands shimmer with energy, though at a considerably lower wattage than before, but they do not move. The area is strangely quiet, with nothing moving and the incessant chattering of the Doombots having stopped. Except for dust rising from the wreckage, there is no movement, and very little sound.

There is little left of the embassy building still standing, except for the structure that supported the middle of the construction, leaving the core of place seemingly intact, at least when seen from the outside. She-Hulk's initial fight with the Doombots destroyed much of the stairs leading to the main room in the middle of the building, but the door at the top, with a golden "D" in the middle gleaming as if it was not surrounded by destruction, still stands erect.

And that door is now open.

Iron Fist notices She-Hulks injuries and knows just what to do.  Helping her up would be a waste of time as she has plenty of her own strength to get to her feet, but there's definitely another way to help.

"Jennifer, let me help.  Hold still a moment, I can heal you."

With that, Iron Fist lays his hands on her more grievous wounds on her shoulder and back.

Re: The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

Jen pulls herself up out of the rubble and stands there looking around, kind of dazed. Her hair's a mess, her face is bruised and swollen, her costume is ripped, she's bleeding from several places, making wet spots in the dust and oil and grime that covers her. She doesn't seem to hear Logan or Iron Fist talking to her and doesn't offer any resistance to their attention.

"Did we win?" she asks, looking around at the rubble of the embassy, the smashed cars, the doombot parts littered all around the area. "Sort of?" she adds. This was going to be a big lawsuit... at best.

Then she notices the gold door. She (gently) shoos Wolverine and Iron Fist's hands away from her and points at the door. "THAT can't be good." She turns to face whatever is about to come out, pulling herself up to her full almost seven foot height.

IF, go for it! I think we might not be quite done yet.

"Captain America put out an all-points on the Wrecking Crew. This stuff with the Doombots started after." She quickly scans the area, still keeping the door in her peripheral vision. She asks Iron First "Did they get away? What happened with Daredevil, the X-man guy, and Sue?" The heroes draw together near the middle of what was once the bottom floor of the embassy, surrounded by thick layers of floating dust lingering in the air. The cloud settles just enough to reveal Doombots on all sides. The robots, while frozen, hold their positions at the ready, hunched forward slightly as if they could leap into a savage attack at any moment. Though their eyes are blank, filled with only a low, red glow, they all face the heroes in a semi-circle, with the open end being the stairs leading to the doors. While many of the Doombots were crushed by the avalanche overhead, there now seem to be even more, an army gathered to face the heroes. If there were hopes of clearing off the Doombots previously, that now been dashed.

In the distance, the familiar sound of destruction being wrought upon a city, becoming louder as it grows and nears this site. Even though bystanders were ushered away when this conflict started, the rampage of the Doombots could soon encroach on the area thickly populated in this part of the city, to say nothing of people moving in, endangering their own safety, but as they so often do.

Carol is blazing throught the sky, trading blasts with the Doombots. But it's a very one-sided back and forth. She's got the power, but they have the numbers.

She's also alone. And that just makes her more dangerous. In the air, there's a reason human combat pilots were never replaced by computerized ones: computers don't have instinct and adrenaline, honed by years of experience. Carol has it all.

Zipping around the Doombots, she wants two things: get to the embassy and bring the Doombots along with her. So, throwing a dizzying amount of microblasts around to get their attention, she's going to punch through the biggest grouping of them.

"Here goes, Carol", she thinks. "If this doesn't work, I'm sunk. They'll overwhelm me and probably kill me. If I survive, maybe it'll be a sign that I need to get out of this crazy business!!"

Carol is going to attempt again to get to the embassy. Second try might be the charm!
