The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

She-hulk looks down at the first aid kit in her lap, then up at Yellowjacket. YJ can see that her face is bruised, nose is bleeding, and she doesn't seem to quite focus her eyes in the right spot. She looks down at the kit again, then picks it up and flips it to the side. "I've got this!" she shouts louder than necessary, like someone who has earphones on.

Getting up and wiping the back of her hand across her bloody nose, She-hulk tries to focus on the Wrecking Crew and who's staring them down. She recognized Daredevil's red suit. The green blur and blue blur, she was less sure about. Was the green guy Banshee? That would explain the ringing in her ears that just wouldn't quit.

"ENOUGH!" she screams, losing her temper and leaping into air. She comes down in the middle of the Wrecking Crew, driving a fist into the ground, shattering it and sending up a spray of debris.

Just going for straight up phys stress. Likely to be a COMPLETELY ineffective attack, but I just can see She-hulk talking it out or doing anything subtle at this point.

16:22, Today: She-Hulk rolled 16,3,7,6 using 3d12,d10,2d8,2d6 with rolls of 9,1,6,3,5,2,3,3.  attack wrecking crew.

Doom Pool: 5d6, d8 +d6 (-d6 +d8) +d6 -d6 = 4d6, 2d8

She-Hulk lands in the center of the group of three men, blasting the sidewalk to rubble under her fist and feet.  The under-construction building on that block shakes and whatever workers were left in there drop their sandwiches and flee.  The three men of the Wrecking Crew turn to the hero then gawk, as they can see her smashed face, her features seemingly shifted all to one side of her head, and she cannot.  They recover their footing from the ground-shock of her landing but do not advance against her.  Not yet.

"This lady isn't in her right mind."  Thunderball says, then sneers.  "But we can take care of her."

"Nuh uh, boys."  The Wrecker, disregarding Iron Fist before him, brings his crowbar far to his side to bring it in an arc up to She-Hulk.  "I got this one!"

The sheer force of the blow sends shock-waves in all directions, shattering the windows of the cars on the street and buckling the construction site fence and the skeleton of the building's bottom floors.  Even if She-Hulk stands up to the strike, the nearby area will be ravaged.

Wrecker creates Knocked Back Complication on She-Hulk:
Team    d10
Misogynist (too eager to hurt a woman)    d4
(+die to Doom Pool)
Godlike Strength/Collateral Damage    d10
Collateral Damage    d6
Weapon    d10
Combat Expert d8
She-Hulk stress    d12

Wrecker rolled 4,2,8,4,2,5 using d10,d4,d10,d6,d10,d8 ((4,2,8,4,2,5)).
Wrecker rolled 9 using 1d12 ((9)).

Total: 13, Effect: d10
Adding d12 to Doom Pool for Collateral Damage

If the attack succeeds, She-Hulk will be thrown some distance away, depending on the Effect die. A successful roll against the Doom Pool will need an Effect Die higher than the Doom Pool's roll (which will include the Complication and Stress) to step it back; a roll equal to or lower than the Doom Pool's Effect will step it back once. The Complication simulates how much effort she has to undertake to get back into the area and the fight.

Doom Pool: 4d6, 2d8 +d6 +d12 = 5d6, 2d8, d12
Next Action: Invisible Woman

Wrecker's hit sends She-hulk flying like a baseball. She crashes through the nearby under-construction building as she goes, barely slowing down. No doubt, she's going to make a crater wherever she lands.

15:18, Today: She-Hulk rolled 1,5,8,2 using d8,d8,d10,d8 with rolls of 1,5,8,2.  resist wrecker.

13/d8/1 opp

Fail. I'll have the full d10 complication on. With the Doom pool where it is, chances are pretty good this effectively takes me out of the scene.

The Invisible Woman quickly worked out the physics in her head. These men were large and physically imposing, to be sure, but with the right force applied to proper leverage, Sue could negate whatever advantage their clearly superior strength presented. While she was fairly sure she could outclass the Wrecking Crew's physical prowess in a straight fight, she had already seen Jen Walters take a beat down. Going the low road was a guarantee that the Crew would endanger more people.

Instead, Sue Richards commanded the invisible energy to form transparent spheres around the Wrecking Crew's heads. With a savage tug of force upwards, the Invisible Woman came into view as she motioned with her open palm towards the Wrecker and his men. The Crew simultaneously lifted up a good six feet in the air by their necks, suspended by perfect invisible spheres. Denying them the purchase they needed for their outright muscle power, Sue made her real play.

"ENOUGH! The Invisible Woman had a solemn look of concentration on her face. "You boys know who I am, and what I can do. The more you fight, the quicker you'll pass out from oxygen deprivation. That is provided that you don't snap your own necks from struggling against a superior use of leverage. I can go like this all day."

"This fight is over. Now."

Ka-BLANKG! She-Hulk shoots away with the force of the Wrecker's blow, glancing off the under-construction building that changes her trajectory so she goes upward more than outward. She travels farther along her Y-axis than her X-axis, and comes down perhaps not far away, with the rotation of the Earth correcting then minimizing the distance she covers. Surely anyone in the mid-town area will see a powerful, green woman flying soaring upward through the afternoon city air, then down again, a narrow arc that is over shortly after it begins. However or wherever she comes down, it is certainly in a pool of destruction, whether it's whatever she crashes down, into, and through, or if it's what is left of her body.

Even as the jade giantess sails by and quickly out of sight, a man with causal work clothes and prominent side burns comes running out of the ally after her. He looks up as sees She Hulk slam into and through the upper floors of a nearby building. However, she goes right through, and keeps flying. "Well crap, Shehulkie. You never make things easy, do you? Just like all those other times..." He grumbled, rolling his eyes. Despite his complaints, he keeps running after her-trying to figure out where she did in fact land.

The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

A note on dice pools:
* The status that determines your Affiliation die should be clear, depending on teammates you are near, or if there are none. The general rule of thumb is that if you are close enough to a teammate (anyone allied with you against the same threat) to communicate with them, even in a rudimentary fashion, or using something like telepathy or comm-sets, that counts as Team, or Buddy if there is only one other. I would allow, as I have in this adventure, a Solo Affiliation on your first turn when joining the scene before you have interacted with any other group member. I’ve been trying to get into the habit of making it clear what Affiliation die everyone should use, especially when a Team is established. A choice between Affiliations is very rare and I will be clear when you have it.
* Durability and Stamina are defensive powers, not to be used in an acting dice pool. You will be informed in the rare event that they can be used in an acting dice pool.
* Area Attack is an SFX used in its power-set and can only be used with that action type. If the power-set is a physical action, then Area Attack can only be used as a physical action.
* The Menace Specialty is used in an emotional attack, particularly intimidation. Psyche is used in a mental attack (i.e., outsmarting an opponent) and with specific mental actions that attack the mind of an opponent. Combat is used in any physical attack. You can still make these types of attacks but you cannot automatically use another Specialty just because you do not have the most appropriate one. Using a different Specialty is occasionally possible but you have to be extremely clever in the narrative how you’re using it as such.
* A dice pool can have only one die for an opponent’s Stress or Complication (and only one or the other), even when using the Area Attack SFX.
* I’m personally not a fan of using a power as part of an emotional attack dice pool (i.e., Wolverine popping his claws to scare a bad guy) but I’ll allow it. However, in the reacting dice pool, I will include any defensive powers (simulating their confidence in standing up to the attacking power).
* Please double-check the dice in your pool to make sure they’re the correct values.

The crew of villains hover, suspended in the air, held by their necks from an invisible force, appearing as if they are floating by their heads. The rest of their bodies free, they still budge, but stay where they are. Predictably, the force can’t stop the Wrecker from spouting off. “Are you really tryin’ to crush our wind-pipes, little lady? Is that some kinda threat? You know our whole bodies are impermious, right?”

“Impervious,” Thunderball mutters as he shimmies uselessly in his own invisible trap.

“Whatever,” the Wrecker snorts.

The only one with any range of movement seems to be Piledriver, who is able to wriggle his way around enough to kick up some of the concrete from the sidewalk then grab a newspaper vending machine which he waves around, the weight of it giving him a little more leverage to attempt to snake his way out of his confines. Newspapers from the machine fly everywhere, inadvertently hiding him from Invisible Woman’s view.

“I… just… get… out…” Piledriver grunts, not making much progress but having considerably more mobility than his compatriots.

Bulldozer buckles his pants and steps out into the sun. Port-a-potties aren’t what they used to be. He looks right up at the sun shining down between the downtown skyscrapers. “Huh,” he says to the sky and smiles to himself. “What a nice day.” It’s only a moment later that he realizes that the corner where he was just a short time ago is not how he left it: the sidewalk is torn apart, cars on the street are abandoned with a few smashed up, the rest of the Crew are suspended in the air for some reason, and… heroes. Heroes everywhere. There always have to be... heroes. Not that it’s any surprise, but this was supposed to be easy money. The big man feels his face get even hotter under his helmet, beneath the summer sun. Whatever -- if these punks want to play, then he can play. Oh, yeah, he thinks as he sets his sights on the costumed duds in the street. I can play.

His feet start going and he rushes into the street, leading with the top of his domed head. “If we’re gonna violate the parole,” he mutters as he charges, slamming through every car along the way, “At least we can take down a few costumes!” He heads straight towards the nearest hero, the one with the energy coming off his hands.  No matter if he knows the punk or not -- if it’s not part of the Crew then it’s a hero and if it’s a hero then it’s going down. Down hard.

"You may be 'invulnerable', but you still need to breathe. I can stop Ben Grimm this way, and you boys are no Ben Grimm."
The Invisible Woman watched as Piledriver did his best to throw a metal box at her. As the burly man hurled his projectile, Sue formed a sheer plane of force at an angle to deflect it downward. The last thing the Invisible Woman wanted was for bystanders to be endangered.

As the news box smashed harmlessly to the ground, it skidded to a stop at her feet. "Keep struggling, boys. Like I said, I can go all day."

Meanwhile, the rest of the Wrecking Crew look on at their teammate with slacked jaws and gaping eyes. "Bulldozer, you idiot!" the Wrecker cries, around his invisible neck-constraints.

The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

She-hulk slowly pushes herself up onto her hands and knees. A long board that had fallen on top of her slides of to the side and lands with a thud. Blood flows from her nose and pools on the ground beneath her face. One eye is swollen shut and dust clings and mixes with the blood on her face to give her a grim mask. Her hair is matted and tangled with debris. Her unitard is ripped and she's missing a shoe. "Uhhn" she says, trying to focus her one good eye on anything recognizable. "Awww crap!" she says as the last sight she'd want to see right now comes into focus.
