Having never been teleported before Venra was a little disorientated afterwards.  She has a few questions for the Captain.

"How many men of arms and men of magic does your garrison have?"

The Captain holds up his hand slowing the questions coming in, although obviously not a lot.  He smiles, looks to the elf and then back at the group.

"I apologize, I had not thought to introduce myself, I am Captain Randall Nocus Knight of the Wolf.
The reports are no doubt connected to why you are here, at best it seems enemy forces are probing some of the out of the way homesteads.  By the gods no fatalities as of yet just very spooked people who are in my care.  Also none of the reports are in the area where you will be going, so it should not be a problem.

As for our smithy Master Dwarf, if you would like to use it I will have one of my men introduce you to the garrison smith.  I can't say you will be allowed to use it as it is his and he is a cantankerous person.  He may welcome the help though as I have had him and his lads working some extra time to make sure weapons and armor are in good shape should things come to pass.

In regards to the strength of the forces here, I cannot give that exact  information but you are free to walk around the garrison and ascertain for yourself.  My reason being should you be caught I cannot have specific information of that nature falling into their hands.  Suffice to say you will be safe if you can make it back to our border.  There will be scouts and scout riders every day patrolling, looking for you return.

Potions of healing I am not sure if any of the men might have those, but I can have word put out and pigeon sent to my Lord, they may have some there.  Is there any other questions if not I will get you situated for this evening and have you Master Dwarf brought to the smithy."

Captain Randall waits for anything else to be said if nothing he sends you on your way.

Thracce's question was a distant sound in Thilo's deep meditation but it was enough to let him know that this conversation was over and they could be about the business required of them.  Peering at Thracce Thilo is curious as to the question.

"I am fine, just was meditating on the the events of the last few days and of the days to come.  It will be nice to rest before this task before us consumes our energies."

Thilo will follow the guide the resting area, once there he will ready his kit and take note of any missing items that he may be able to replace.

"Only that time is against us, there are a couple variables due to the supposed sightings of foreign scouts.  They are keeping watch on their newly acquired territory, they are looking for signs of weakness and are planning on expanding quickly and thirdly the one I hope the most as it would be the most convenient is that they are looking for someone inside their territory.  I feel as though the third one is wishful thinking."

While walking and speaking Thilo had kept his head forward on the back of the guardsman leading the way.

"This is a large territory, finding them could be problematic, if we don't know which direction to go. I do hope there are maps to look at here that we might plan where to look for them.”

He will run this idea by Verna and inquire about maps of the territory .

Thracce, Thilo, Verna and the others are shown to where their sleeping quarters will be and instructed that they may visit the mess and walk around the fort.  The soldier instructs that you are to stay off the ramparts simply for the fact that the distraction to the guards is a potential risk.

The soldier indicate to Grudgebearer that he should follow and doesn't really care that Thracce seems to be tagging along for the mini tour.  A short walk around the stone tower you arrived in, you come to the main gate and to the right of the gate you can see the smithy lit with torches as the sun has gone below the line of the palisade.  Heavy methodical hammer blows can be heard as you approach closer, the sight before you would cause most to pause for it is not a human or dwarf at the forge, rather three kobolds and a orc chained to a large stone with what looks like only enough length to reach the anvil and bellows.  As you enter the smithy the metal working stops, words are exchanged and one walks off in the direction of the captain.  The orc's eyes are down cast, his body is hideously scarred and it is difficult to look at him even for those who slavery is common.  The soldier that escorted you looks at the kobold that walked away and then at those who followed him.  He shrugs his shoulders and walks away leaving those standing there in silence.

(OCC in the words of another GM what do you do?)

Thracce walks along in silence taking in the details of the fort and soldiers. The tour of the smithy was for Grudgebears benefit. He is more interested in maps of the area and what the scouts will report when they return.

He owns several kobold blades and knows that they make quality weapons.
He is not surprised by the cruelty the orc has been subjected to but it is not his place to comment at least not right now.

He looks carefully from where he is standing at some of the weapons and armor being made and repaired, to see if the kobolds are doing "their best" work.

Grudgebearer stands stationary taking in the scene before him long enough that the annoying elf called Thracce just walks into the Kobolds smithy and start perusing items.  Grudgebearer just follows suit, not touching anything out of respect, once in a while he will look to the slave orc.  Grudgebearer did not really have a strong opinion on slavery of any kind, he had seen in Timiro and there were slaves of all races.  This creature had endured more then his fair share.

"The Captain mentioned that you may be in need of a hand as things around the area have heated up.  I am not here to cause no problem, just been awhile since I have worked at the forge.  If need be I can even run the bellows, stoke the coals what have you, give your orc there a break.
If yeah want I could even give you boys a break, just tell me what needs being done and I will get er done for yeah."

Grudgebearer was just interested in some good old fashioned work.

The two remaining Kolbolds do not respond to Grudgebearer's polite offer of help, either they don't understand or are just arrogant.  They notice Caspar perusing the items that have been fixed and the work is of fine quality.  There is a slight sour look on their faces as they stare at Caspar and Grudge.  A couple more minutes of awkwardness go on, when the one Kolbold who had left comes back.  Going into the smithy he speaks with the other two and finally comes and speak to both Caspar and Grudge.

"There was a misunderstanding on the Captains part, no help is required, as you can see we are doing quite fine.  As for the bellows, coal and such we have more then enough help in that area."

The Kolbold thumbs in the direction of the horribly beaten orc.

"Now if the two of you wouldn't mind leaving we have some more work to do, before this days end.  Also none of our current wares are for sale as these items are for the Fort Soldiers."

With out so much as a nod the Kolbold starts barking orders to the other two and the orc and the sound of the smithy back in work can be heard.

Jalahada little jaunt around the small fort proves somewhat fruitful in the mess hall as the cooks elder daughter is the one who serves the food to the men.  She is not to hard on the eyes a little cleaning and some fresh cloths she would no doubt make a fine house wife to someone someday.

Korin is able to find a couple places that seem viable to make a hasty retreat from the fort, that do not require the use of the rampart stairs or would draw much attention. The fort is definitely easier to get out of then in.

Thilo and Verna turned in and when others return to the barracks where they are staying will find Thilo resting in a cross legged position and Verna either asleep or maintaining her equipment.

Slightly perplexed, Grudgebearer is about to speak up when he hears Caspar's sigh.  Taking note from the elf which was not his most favorite thing Grudgebearer shrugs and follows suit hurrying a bit to catch up to the taller elf.

"Well not quite what I was expecting but not a real surprise, Kolbold's and Dwarve's are not the greatest of friends, much like Dwarves and Elves eh there Caspar.  How about we find something to drink in this place before we go."

Grudgebearer made sure to let the elf know through body language that he was jesting and would walk with him.

It is 120 proof with  spicey notes but a very smooth finish. The high is very very mellow.”   Noting noone is currently in stocks he will have a seat there. He fills both shock glasses and offers Grudge one.

Caspar and Grudgebearer share some moonshine into the evening and eventually doze off in a alcohol induced euphoria from his Uncle's special blend, after talking about whatever elves and dwarves talk about.

Jalahada is spit at a couple times, cursed at by most of the men, the rest give him a skewed look for his offering of whoring. The offer was not a complete waste though for his efforts as it turns of the cooks daughter had a devious side and she and a soldier smitten with her takes you up on the offer.  The evenings festivities are pleasant for all involved and it is around two in the morning when things come to a close.

The others continue in their slumber in the assigned quarters uninterrupted like the rest, the faint ringing of the smithy coming through the wooden walls.  Torches lit along the ramparts cast shadows on the inside but allow the men to see out and do not hamper their night vision.

The deal struck with the cooks daughter was rather interesting for Jalahada. It was something he had done before, on a number of occasion where women wanted their suitor satisfied but their maidenhood remaining intact. In the darkness of the girls bedchamber's he was instructed to carry out tasks and acts the smitten soldier wanted the cook's daughter to perform.

Jalahada carried out these tasks/acts quite well without the smitten soldier even knowing there was a third person in the room....or even that the smitten solider was satisfied by a male Elf.
