I used to play in a party that used the heavily armoured fighter to spring traps and ambushes -  although we were significantly higher than you guys when we started that technique.  Our fighter was a very defensive build and his main job was to be the target, distract the enemy and provide a flanking bonus while the Barbarian and Rogue did the damage  :)

how long would it take to explore the halves of the hexes on this side of the river for hexes G and L? assuming no other interruptions or obstacles?

From the map -  you have two half hexes this side of the river.  1/2-G and 1/2-L -  two halves would take as long to explore as 1 whole hex.

So you would be finished by night fall.

mapping :)

I am off camping again shortly – this time I will be spending the weekend in the fields around a military museum.  While I have a phone with me, I don’t have access to all the books and files I use when I run the game - so updates will be sparse, until sometime on Monday.

It is Murphy’s law that I get two consecutive weekends away – normally they are more spread out than this.  However, this should be the last major interruptions until the end of October -  when (ironically)  I will have another two consecutive busy weekends.

Group 1 -  I have assumed that you have been exploring hex G as you have travelled.  Given your direction of travel we will assume you have explored the South West corner – and that it is mid-morning.   If you decide to go east -  you will complete your exploration of the two half-hexes a short while before it gets dark.   I checked out the travel times in  forest (it is in the Exploration thread) if you travel west to the end of the river, then swing around and follow it back to where you are -  it will take roughly 6-8 hours.  So you would arrive at the same position (on the other side of the river)  a short while before it gets dark.

Group 2 – You did not find a key on the half-orc, even though as you stripped the armour off of him and searched him.  For you, it is about mid-morning as well.  You found the palisaded mound fairly early after you set off, came straight here and “spent some quality time together as a group”.

I have left some notes for Percy :)

law and Order

For years I have struggled to find/create a half-decent legal system for my games -  I have researched, half written something, Ummed and Ahhed, researched again - and gone around in circles.

But now, I have managed to codify a simple, but fairly comprehensive)  system that I have called  Lex Gasgana - after an NPC/Character who has been dear to me, and who still pops up in games occasionally.  Mind you, in this game his role might well be taken by Drusilla of Hornwood!

Any comments / thoughts / improvements would be appreciated.

Enjoy your weekend! We can hold down the fort here! Though not knowing what is in this chest will plague my thoughts all weekend...

I was telling another player that one of the things that makes this game so great is that you teach us (or maybe just me) all sorts of fun facts, and I'm sure it is weekends like last weekend and this weekend that fill your head with those that you share!

There must be a better term to describe a noble-born rogue than rogue or thief ... but I can't think of a good one at the moment. Rake or mountebank don't really fit our Percy.  ;o)

If it isn't clear by now, Cyrus will gladly take any beating he needs to if it means the team will succeed. He's learned his lesson about pits in the dark but he's happy to have you all knock him out (though that might be a difficult task in and of itself).

Oh, I'm thinking more the 'gentleman thief' archetype, such as Raffles or the Pink Panther.   :>

Even Robin of Locksley, or the Scarlet Pimpernel both fit the mold, though their motives were undoubtedly more altruistic.

Poor Cyrus !  Dropped down pits, stabbed in the dark and now willing to risk madness to save any hurt to his teammates !  Definitely first pick for the team !  ;>

Percy, if you ever need an assistant appraiser, Vik's got the skill (because of course she does). Won't get the 'class skill' bonus until a few levels from now (prestige class), but I'm glad to use aid another to give you a +2

I read that as Pink Ranger. And that's how it stays in my head.
