Re: OOC

Is it possible to use create water spell repeatedly on Kendrick to get the oil off? I’m not sure how the physics of that would work.

Oil and water don't mix all that well - which is why we need detergent when we do the washing up :)

Yes, of course. And this is why Kendrick did ask Pipre for assistance :) Kendrick tried whatever tricks he knew... and now he is thinking of water :)

I always loved prestidigitation spells. They always make me so happy, as DM might recall I had a character once who relied on them heavily.

Re: OOC

DM:
I needed a bit of  'playing time'  this morning :)  I have replaced the Main Game Map with a political map that shows Henry's Ambitions as well as some of the limiting factors.

So, Henry has his eye on land further west, too? The area between the forests of the Narlemarches on the east side of Lake Hooktongue. No doubt Baron Drelev might be nursing similar ambitions.

The game map for Group 0 shows a location called Drowned Trees in that area. I think that was some sort of bandit camp or pirate village, wasn't it. I think there was mention of Henry having sent a group there to clear it out but I'm not sure if that was an NPC thing happening in the background or actually a PC group that did that.

On another note, would it be appropriate to put a label on the game map for Group 0 for the location of the Old Beldame? That would be on the western side of the Tuskwater southwest from Tusk.

Is there a list posted somewhere to give a brief explanation of what each label on the game map for Group 0 means and perhaps who went there? For example I know that 'Bokken' is a hermit who can supply a number of potions (Andalon was one of the original group that discovered him), but I wonder if any of the newer players would know that.

What does the darker pink boundary on the game map for Group 0 represent?

Zirul's player has just told me that they are dropping out of the game for personal reasons.

Just in case Zirul's ex-player reads this -  thank you for letting me know.  I did send you a PM -  but then (in a fit of over zealousness )  moved your PC before you had a chance to read it.

Re: OOC

Very possibly  :)  In part the new map is PC driven.   A couple of players have spoken about building outside of Henry's control, others have limited themselves to the 'Known Area'  when deciding their character's campaign ambitions.  This helps me define Henry's current ambition - and helps me give Players / Characters a broader perspective.  As with anything in a long running campaign game -  it could change later  :P

Drowned Trees was a there as a place for PCs to explore - if I needed it.  When we started I had a couple of players with local knowledge of this area -  so I needed something for them to have knowledge of, and I wasn't quite sure how the game would progress.  I had a feeling that I might need  additional areas for PCs to explore  so I added Drowned Trees and The Orcy Ring to the standard adventure.  Orcy Ring was a good challenge, but Drowned Trees wasn't needed.  In the end Drowned Trees was 'dealt with' by an NPC group, lead by Borric.  Now it is  nothing but a 'swamper' village.

On another note, would it be appropriate to put a label on the game map for Group 0 for the location of the Old Beldame? That would be on the western side of the Tuskwater southwest from Tusk.

Very Probably.  Especially now you know what she is and how she might be able to help you.

On the other hand, it might be time to take Bokken off of the map.  I have been letting characters buy potions, and other basic magical items, as part of the 'In Town' process, rather than making people specifically  head out to find a specific retailer.  Bokken was relevant when he was the only person, for miles around,  who could make any sort of magical item.  Now item-creators of his level are background characters .....

What does the darker pink boundary on the game map for Group 0 represent?

The Darker Pink boundary represents areas that can be reach easily by troops from Midmarch, and that could be patrolled occasionally.   Effectively areas that could (currently) be claimed as part of Midmarch.   However ....

  • Some Hexes, Like Hex-7 could be patrolled but aren't because the have not been explored or claimed - even  though they are technically in patrol range of the guards at Tusk.
  • Some Hexes(like the Kobolds that Group 1 are dealing with at present) are explored (so inside the light pink) but not made safe enough to claim.  Nor is it in Patrol Range of any of the current troops.
  • Other Hexes, such as Cascades and Waterfall, have been explored and declared safe -  but aren't in range of any patrols.  They are ripe for settling  and bringing into the Midmarch fold.

Re: OOC

There are definitely a few hexes that look like they could be prime land, in some respects, for fishing/port communities, that have yet to be explored. I admit I rather enjoy that aspect of the game, there is so much unexplored wilderness that it is a wonder to what marvels the players have yet to find, as well as what troubles ;)

Re: OOC

Just in case you weren't aware of it, RPoL has just moved to a new server, uses a  different version of PHP.  It appears that some of RPoL code  isn't working quite as it ought to, and some people are having problems posting from their favourite browser / device.  Jase is working on it* - but if you are concerned PM me or send me an rMail :)

In reply to DM (msg # 974):

Jase is Great:
SSL/HTTPS should work for rpol.net, www.rpol.net, m.rpol.net plus the temporary new.rpol.net.  If you're using anything else for the address then it will give you a certificate error as it won't match  IE6 will also have issues, but that's too old to worry about.  The certificate gets an A grade on SSL Labs.

Emails should work again (signup and notifications).  There were a few email setup steps I'd neglected to do..

Removing games from the main menu should now work.

Wiki should also now work.  Forgot the old website had some rewrite trickery to make simple URLs load a more complicated one.

Let me know if there are any other issues, not sure what to make of those other odd game issues, that was the middle of the night here.  Just let me know if it continues to happen.

Be sure to let the GM (or Jase) know if there are any additional issues.

Are you talking about swallowing the potion and having the babybird take it out of your mouth? Are you going to vomit the potion into your mouth and have the babybird drink from it?

I'd say go for it.... love to see the outcome. Too bad that I won't be able to see any of it from my position ;)
