Re: 2: Onward to Oleg's
Seeming content with what she'd been watching, Bai pulls her journal out of her saddlebag and scribbles away for a few moments and then eases her new mount back towards the fort, catching the tail end of Pipre's mention of the bandit holdouts. She regards Oleg, "I suppose we should take an inventory of their belongings, there may be something of value."
She begins to get down from her mount, but then decides otherwise. "There is strength in numbers, however I think that's the problem we face. Right now we know that whatever the number was this morning at this forest holdout that Pipre mentioned, there are 5 less now. However if we wait, there could be a few dozen more in a day or so. When those six get back to their hideout they're going to make a decision, whether to take us out on their own or to gather reinforcements from one of their sister sites. Though Pipre, you seem in league with these bandits, perhaps you can offer some insight there." Her remark to Pipre seems more academically interested and less an accusation of wrongdoing. The woman flips through her journal and hums for a moment. "If those locations are accurate, the nearest stronghold is roughly 30 miles away, so a rider who pushes his horse could be there tonight. Then whatever reinforcements they send, either straight here or back to the forest stronghold could be at their location tomorrow evening. Though, that is based on the assumption that these horse are..." Bai shakes her head as she seems to stop herself from digressing.
"So I suppose the question is less of do we fight them here or there, but rather one of do we fight a smaller force somewhere between here and their forest stronghold, or do we hold up and wait to see what force comes here. I don't know our gracious hosts well enough to speak for them, but I'm willing to bet they'd rather the bloodshed not happen on their doorstep. So I'd vote that we leave a small group here, one or two at most, and the rest of us ride out immediately."
