Paid Zealotry - Battle Thread

Father Septimus led the group north, as close to his village as he dared. There was a small bridge over the river which could prove to be a concerning choke point, but beyond that lay the village to the north, though they would likely be attacked by the mercenary cavalry on their way there. Despite his fear, Septimus chose to aid the group during the battle, though he was not much of a fighter himself.

Optional objectives:
- Liberate the Keep by defeating Ragios.

As Raikos came close and surveyed the area, he knew what had to be done. Though he and his unit was severely outnumbered four to one, Raikos was sure he could use this "concerning" choke point into an "advantageous" choke point instead. Eventually winning them a victory. Though Raikos also knew that they wouldn't be able to reach the town as it stood. After a bit more thinking, Raikos turned to the others with him and spoke

"Alright, our main objective this mission is to route the Astral Cultists and secure the Church of Sarynth. There are multiple survivors of an attack by the Astral Cultists stuck there, and they won't have much longer to live. We've also been asked to take care of the mercenaries turned bandits, who placed themselves within the castle on the hill. Finally there is a group of said bandits heading for a village, we have to stop them, or at least warn the villagers."

Raikos took a moment to let the orders and situation sink in before continuing once more.

"At this moment, we are outnumbered, so we will need to be cautious and wary as we move on. Don't rush out by yourselves, and we have to try and take the enemies out little by little. I'll distract the forces to target me, keeping the amount of soldiers heading to the village smaller. Raina, I want you to head towards the village and warn them of the oncoming threat. The rest of you, I want you to assist me in taking down the enemies on this side. Father Septimus, I want you to heal my wounds as they appear, while Raina moves towards the village."

With all that said and done, Raikos looks over to Miriam and gives her a nod and speaks

"You're Miriam, correct? I apologize for bringing you into the battle so quickly after you have just joined. Though I will be sure to give you a proper welcome once this is all over."

Raikos went over to his position on the bridge, on his horse, trying to look intimidating enough that the enemy would come to him, rather than he goes to them.

Miriam wasn't able to meet Commander Raikos, atleast not yet, as she and Faire were suddenly told to prepare for battle in liberating a church of Sarynth from Astral Cultists. En route, the Panthera made sure that her equipment was ready, changing to a more agile, yet revealing, battle outfit that focuses on ease of movement. She would listen the objectives, and orders, of Commander Raikos while looking towards the far area and barely recognizing a church and castle from afar as well as a nearby village, or town?, surrounded by a bit of forestry.

You're Miriam, correct?

Hearing this person's voice, Miriam would look towards Raikos who was already on top of his steed, who apologized for bringing her in battle as well as offering a proper welcoming after this. The Panthera's ears perked for a moment, before clenched her fists slowly, the sound of metal clinking to one another as the 'claws' met the gauntlets' palm, as she nodded towards Raikos who then went towards the bridge thereafter.

..Won't the bandits gang up on that 'Raina' person easily though? If she slows down one bit, there's no saying whether or not the bandits would do a 'detour' and aim for her either.

Regardless of her thoughts, she ought first to 'survive' and test out the very first live battle of being a 'Rune Mage' with her rune-inscribed gauntlets. She'll worry about giving Raikos the letter of introduction after this battle as well.

..Huntress Venovel, please watch over me.

..Those cultists are too resistant to my magic, but the mercenaries and the bandits should be easy prey. However, with how small the area is, I'm worried about not being able to do anything, but orders are orders, I should follow Raikos for now.

Enemy Phase:

So far, the approach of the mercenaries had gone largely unnoticed by the enemy forces. The rocks at J16-L16 prevented a line of sight from the monks, and the riders further north had not spotted Raikos crossing the bridge yet. So far, fortune seemed to favor the group.

Raina would listen to what Raikos had to ask, and would give a small nod. Raina knew that it would be dangerous, but she thought this was more useful than anything. Also, that it felt better to protect people in the end. With this,, Raina dashed off on her own horse following up the creek. Trying to stay as far from the view of the mercenaries as possible.

Lady Agarwen stepped upon the battlefield, following along with little hesitation. Mercenaries weren't innocent countrymen, defending their families from outsiders; they were combatants by nature--killers, by profession. This was a cause that was in line with her values, though it still meant the taking of life.

Gripping the hilt of her sword, she stared out from the cliff face. The battle would soon begin. Her hand trembled for a moment, memories of bloodshed-past boiling to the surface. She steadied herself, and carried on.

"Let the will of the Star Weaver be done."

Even as an apostate, spurned by the goddess for her bloodshed, the snow elf seemed determined to eradicate the defilers.

Raikos didn't see this too much as a fortunate outcome, since they would have to move deeper into enemy territory, and in a more compromising position. Though Raikos did think through the area a bit more, than turned back towards the group and gave out the orders once more

"The enemy has yet to see us, and we'll use this to our advantage. I'll move into the open area near the creek and attract the attention of the cavalry and the clerics. I want you to position yourselves near the cliff side, or if you are unable, somewhere out of sight. When they rush towards me, ambush them and take them out.

Uriel, I would like you to help me take point as well if possible. You have a better chance of weathering blows than I.

Father Septimus, let the enemy move in and attack me, after I want you to heal my wounds as best as you're able to.
"

With that, Raikos moved his horse off the bridge, and masterfully through the water as he made it to a open section by the river. Raikos would ready his blade and wait, he wanted to see if it would be the same result as last time, or if they would take notice of him and attack.

Seeing the group advance, Uriel moved up as well, advancing until she stood next to Myriam. Under most circumstances the order Raikos had given her would have been a silly one to ask of a spelcaster, but she was blessed with the protection of Rakdos, and felt confident that the blades would not be able to touch her. Well, not enough to knock her down, anyway.

Enemy Phase

At the rear of the group, Septimus carefully made his way to the bridge, choosing the position where he would be able to cover as many of his allies as possible. It was clear he was worried about the battle ahead, but the safety of the church spurred him on.

The riders spotted Raina, then Raikos as they headed north from the bridge. With a cry of alarm, the riders charged at the group, though their history of oppressing peasants made them overconfident, and their charge was a disorganized one.

Blue Rider charged at the mage of the group, but the Pantheran mage managed to dive under the swing just in time (88). Two fast incantations of a Wind Rune were more accurate however (10,81), hitting the rider twice for a total of 10 damage.

Mirian gains +2 Tome Use and +10 XPs. Blue Rider has 19/29 HP remaining.

Most of the attention was however focused on Raikos, just as he had anticipated. Luck seemed to be on his side however, as both arrows managed to miss him (95, 81).

Raikos cannot counter both times, +2 XPs gained.

The Monks had noticed something was going on over the ledge, but they didn't care as the mercenaries weren't with them. One of the Priests did move over to heal Blue Rider back to full health.

Blue Rider heals back to 29/29 HP

The elf brandished her blade from its sheath, holding it to her side. Sunlight gleamed upon its edge as she ran past her comrades, arrows whistling around her. Her body glided across the ground, her feet gracefully striking the soil with Elven grace. She cast a glance to the side to see that the missiles had missed Raikos, whom was locked into combat a group of mercenaries. She said nothing to him, not even acknowledging his plight with a nod. Focusing her attention back to the battle, she caught sight of a nearby archer riding upon horseback. She rose her blade high into the air and slashed it across the man's exposed leg. The smell of fresh blood spread into the air, though only the tip of her blade had drank of the thick, red stuff.

There would surely be more to come.

Finally the mercenaries had rushed towards them, as Raikos had hoped. Though the realization that the Astral Monks didn't fight them as well showed that this was a true stroke of fortune. Though the rouge priest that decided to heal the rider was not. Raikos was wary, and didn't wish to have the monks rush into the fray while he and his group still fought the mercenaries. On that thought, Raikos rushed for the closest Rider blade in hand.

A swift downwards strike that connected from his right shoulder, to his right hip. Inches away from a critical blow. Though the rider was still heavily wounded. Seeing that Uriel and Miriam were the most able to take the rider down, Raikos spoke to them

"Uriel, Miriam, help me take down this rider."

Miriam was almost slashed by the sword-wielding rider in front of her and retaliated with two barrage of arrows formed from her wind runes, only for that damage to get healed by one of the cultist healers. Frowning, she heard the words of Raikos and acknowledged it with a slight nod, jumping back behind her before preparing her rune magic.

Please guide me, Huntress Venovel!

The wind converged around her before streaks of the wind were sent one after the other: the first somewhat catching the rider off-guard and wounding him greatly before the final streak almost ending his life, but a sliver remains sadly however..

Enemy Phase

Septimus advances a little further again, ensuring he stays safely out of reach from enemy weaponry.

Raina, thanks to her Alarym training, quickly manages to cross the water and reached the village. She is quickly approached by several villagers who were watching the battle and, while they don't have the skill or means to help, do manage to bring her some items squirreled away for a rainy day.

Hidden Objective cleared: Visit the village. Raina gains +2 Vulneraries (3/3).

Blue Rider, still very much alive (if barely), staggers back for healing.

Crits only multiply Weapon Power by 3, STR/MAG isn't multiplied so your crit only did 11 (3 x 3 (Wind tome Power) + 9 - 7), leaving him with 1 HP remaining. Sorry Miriam :/

Plain Nomad, feeling the brunt of the attacks on him, guides his horse a little back to make room for his more melee oriented buddies and fires an arrow at Faire in retaliation for her blow. The arrow finds its target (36), hitting the Myrmidon for 8 damage.

Faire is hit for 8 damage (20/28 remaining). She cannot counter and gains +1 XPs.

Red Nomad decides to get back to a safer position, and targets Faire as well. His arrow finds its mark as well (44), hitting the poor swordswoman for another 8 damage.

Faire is hit for 8 damage (12/28 remaining). She cannot counter and gains +1 XPs.

Plain Rider repositions himself between the group and the archers. Trying to decide between the wounded Faire and the slow but heavier hitting Uriel, he opts for the latter. His sword easily connects both times (8, 13), hitting for a total of 10 damage. Uriel's bolt does barely manage to miss a chink in his armor, hitting him back for 9 damage.

Uriel is hit for 10 damage (19/29 remaining). She gains +10 XPs and +1 Dark Use. Plain Rider has 20/29 HP remaining.

With everyone busy moving around, Red Rider simply decides to try and hit the injured Myrmidon directly next to him again. The unfortunate myrmidon is once again struck (55) for yet another 8 damage. Her counter does manage to land, though it does not do much damage.

Faire is hit for 8 damage (4/29 HP remaining). She gains +10 XPs and +1 Sword Use. Red Rider has 28/29 HP remaining.

Seeing the bleeding mess that is the Blue Rider, Plain Priest moves up to heal him for 18 HP.

Blue Rider has 19/29 HP remaining.

Red Priest heals Plain Nomad for 18.

Plain Nomad has 29/29 HP remaining.

The battle was starting to cause commotion among the Astral monks at the church, and some were definitely beginning to pay attention to the group's efforts now, though they did not engage just yet.

Raina nods in thanks to the villagers as they gave her the items. Which was more than Rains wanted from them. Taking the time to thank the villagers, Raina hears Raikos call out to her. He wanted her to return and take the chance to heal Faire. She masterfully crosses the water creek to where Faire was. Saying a small prayer Faire's wounds would begin to heal. Than Raina speaks to Farie.

Re: Paid Zealotry - Battle Thread

The arrows cut through her armor with ease, soaking her clothes with her own blood. She felt to her knee in pain, leaning upon her sword to maintain balance. Her gaze started to fade in and out--was this how it would end? At the last second, it seemed, she felt a familiar warmth as Raina's healing magic surged through her body. Her wounds were not completely healed, but it was enough to get her back up onto her feet.

In response to Raina's command, she shook her head no. "I would not think to abandon you, milady."

With her blade held high, she ran across the field towards the nearby horseman. His horse largely evaded her blow at the last moment, but not before the very tip of her blade could glance across his upper thigh. She braced herself for any counterattacks, breathing heavily. Raina's magic wouldn't always be there to protect her; Lady Agarwen would need to get tougher than this if she was going to survive.

Raikos nodded at how Raina rushed to Farie's aid, it was good that she was able to be more independent in battle. However, there was still a large matter of the enemy ahead. Since Farie moved to a better position, Raikos was able to finalize a defensive line. Moving forward, Raikos slashed at the Rider next to him as he passed by, putting the rider in a dire state, as he was almost downed. Raikos called out to Uriel and Miriam

"Miriam, move up and attack the injured rider. Uriel, you and I will hold the line to prevent the riders from targeting Miriam, Septimus, and Raina."

..A shame that the previous sword-wielding rider didn't die but..

"..the next 'prey', I won't let them flee alive.", is what the Panthera muttered as if wanting to assure herself, before she once again heard the words from Raikos to target and end the rider he just attacked. Seeing that they have to protect Father Septimus from the bow-wielding riders while making sure to stay away from the range of the monks if possible and hid herself behind Uriel and Raikos*. The wind converged around Miriam as the Panthera operated her runes of magic which manifested two strong gales beneath the targeted enemy, the last one truly ending the targeted rider's life this time around.

Renewal heals Uriel for 3, 22/29 HP remaining.

Seeing the party move to secure the flank, Uriel knew she would still need to block the enemy from advancing down the path to where Septimus was. Taking a deep breath, she stood her ground, giving the friendly priest a yell over her shoulder.

- "Hey Seppi, you'd better heal me after this!"

And she attacked Plain Nomad again, sending a dark bolt at him while hoping the return arrows would miss.

15:52, Today: Ashuancourux, for the NPC Plain Rider, rolled 28 using 1d100 with rolls of 28.  Plain Rider vs. Raikos (74 to hit).

Enemy Phase

Septimus, unable to reach Faire without exposing himself, instead heals Uriel for 12 HP.

Uriel now has 24/29 HP remaining.

Raina, seeing Faire in a lot of trouble, heads over to heal her before diving into the ice cold water of the river again and staying there.

Faire now has 22/28 HP remaining.

Faire moved over to attack her next target, hoping to distract it, but she ends up a little too close to the rider and his sword slashes painfully across her chest (Counter from her round, see rolls at the top of this post).

Faire now has 14/28 HP remaining.

Red Rider, hoping to press his advantage, attacks the myrmidon again hoping to finish her off. His sword connects (45), but so does hers (71), though Faire is definitely the one more affected by the exchange.

Faire is hit for 8 damage (6/28 remaining). She gains +10 XPs and +1 Sword Use. Red Rider has 27/29 HP remaining.

Red Nomad, seeing his buddy go down, feels emboldened by the Priests at his back, and sends an arrow at the agile myrmidon in an attempt to take her out of the fight. The arrow finds its target (32), sending the unfortunate swordswoman to the ground.

Faire is hit for 8 damage (-2/28 remaining). She is KO'd and cannot counter, so she gains +1 XPs. She is still above -6, so she will recover after the battle, or when dropped off at the Church (occupied by Victor).

Blue Rider remembering the pain inflicted on him, rides back for payback. He finds he cannot reach Miriam with Uriel in the way though, and so simply attacks her instead. He hits her twice (20, 46), but the return blast of dark energy leaves a mark on his armor as well (36).

Uriel is hit for 10 damage (14/29 remaining). She gains +10 XPs and +1 Dark Use. Blue Rider has 11/29 HP remaining.

Injured again shortly after having been healed, Plain Nomad backs up a bit while testing his arm, but the limb seems fine, and so he opts to attack the injured shamaness who seems to be blocking the way. Both arrows manage to find its target (61, 45), and due to the Rider's distraction the return shot goes horribly wide (100).

Uriel is hit for 10 damage (4/29 remaining). She gains +1 XPs and +1 Dark Use for missing. Plain Nomad has 29/29 HP remaining.

Both priests move further in to heal the injured riders.

Wanting to finish the job, Plain Priest moves up to Blue Rider to heal him for 18 HP.

Blue Rider has 29/29 HP remaining.

Red Priest heals Plain Nomad again for 18.

Plain Nomad has 27/27 HP remaining.

The monks were getting restless now, but found they couldn't quite advance to the group because Plain Nomad was blocking the way. They were definitely taking up positions though.

Raikos's demeanor darkens slightly as he watches Farie fall, especially since this would cause the enemy to get too confident and fight with more morale. That and regardless of what happened, Farie was still apart of Raikos's unit, and that meant that she won't die under his watch. Raikos turns to Raina

"Raina, secure Farie and move over to heal Uriel, than I want you here in the front with us to hold the line, all right?"

While Raina understood the first part, the latter baffled here. Being on the frontlines wasn't something she could do, especially since she couldn't fight. However, she did trust in Raikos so she nodded and moved offwards.

Raikos returned his attention to the riders ahead of him. Raising his blade high, Raikos gives a damaging slash towards the rider, and when the rider struck back, Raikos parried it.

Turning to Miriam Raikos spoke

"Miriam, we need to focus on one enemy at a time, attack the rider I injured."

Raikos would turn to Uriel as well and speak

"Uriel, I need your help to hold this line as well. We also need to focus on one target, can you target the one I just attacked."

"Lady Faire!", Miriam cried out softly as the Panthera saw the Snow Elf get knocked down to the ground. The bandits would surely want to ride with this momentum, even if one of their own is felled, and once again hearing the order from Raikos, 'Understood Commander Raikos.', Miriam would once again concentrate her magic to operate her Wind Runes which sent two blades of razor wind to the rider that Raikos just attacked, the first attempt somewhat managed to barely hit the enemy, the second connected spot-on this time however.

"..Lady Uriel, I leave the killing blow to you.", the Panthera would say to the sole shamaness in their group, glancing towards Raina and Faire for a brief moment, before Miriam turned her attention back to the battle in front of her. The monks are getting in position, so the best thing they can currently do is lower their numbers as much as possible.

The world swirled around her.

It all had happened so quickly; the sound of the horse's breathing, the rider's blade parsing the air, the release in tension of a bowman's string, and the indiscernible commands shouted from afar. It was surely a warriors death.

As Faire clung to life, she ignored the question of her mortality, and instead focused on her place. What was she doing here? Why did she take up the sword in the first place? What was the point of it all?

The sky turned black.

Incapacitated. Held by Raina.

Uriel backed up a bit despite the healing support, giving a little more ground in order to use the rocks as a natural barrier against being attacked from multiple sides. Despite her focus on defenses those arrows still managed to deal quite a bit of damage, if not in quality then in quantity. She also wanted to make sure the Blue Rider, should her attack miss, wouldn't hit her back since the shower of arows that would soon follow would likely take her out of the fight as well.

Enemy Phase

With the gap forming in the allied lines, the horsemen moved around to try and strike the weaker armored members of the party. The lone remaining rider moved in to attack Uriel, with both of the nomads decided to send their arrows at the Shamaness in an attempt to weaken her further.

First in were the Nomads, providing covering fire for the approaching Red Rider. Plain Nomad missed the first shot due to the terrain (89,20), and Uriel's bolt managed to smash into the rider in turn (6).

Uriel is hit for 5 damage (20/29 remaining). She gains +8 XPs and +1 Dark Use. Plain Nomad has 20/29 HP remaining.

Sensing the tactics used and hoping for a repeat of what happened to the myrmidon earlier, Red Nomad fires two arrows as well. Again, one hits and the other does not (96,55) whereas Uriel's return bolt once again finds its target (22).

Uriel is hit for 5 damage (15/29 remaining). She gains +8 XPs and +1 Dark Use. Red Nomad has 20/29 HP remaining.

Last up was the Red Rider, rushing into the gap. He too takes a few swings at Uriel in an attempt to take her down. Both his strikes land (42,49), unbalancing Uriel, but not enough that her shot misses its target due to the fact that the rider was standing on the open road (82).

Uriel is hit for 10 damage (5/29 remaining). She gains +10 XPs and +1 Dark Use. Red Rider has 16/29 HP remaining.

The Priests, unable to reach Red Rider, instead heal Red Nomad and Plain Nomad to full health.

Red Nomad and Plain Nomad both have 29/29 HP remaining.

With Raikos having come out of the exchange with Blue Rider relatively unscathed, and Uriel being in a far worse condition, Septimus decides to heal Uriel for 12 HP.

Uriel now has 17/29 HP remaining.

And the Monks, having heard Uriel's shout, had begun to move in, though they were being blocked in their approach by the positioning of the riders that made them unable to reach the members of Raikos' group. The leader opted to stay behind though, waiting for the return of his zealots in the church he had commandeered for himself.

Raikos watched as the battle unfolded, and he knew that the healers were a major thorn in his plans and strategies. However, Raikos knew that the riders were still a great issue. Raikos could see the oncoming Monks, however Raikos was more than certain that their light would do nothing against him and his unit. The main issue however was the riders and how much damage they were doing, especially to Uriel. Seeing the opportunity, however, Raikos spoke out to Miriam.

With the death of the final rider, Uriel moved into the gap to prevent the enemy nomads from getting a few good shots off at those behind her. She fired off a blast at close range at Red Nomad, slamming into him. It was likely to get healed up, but it would give him something to think about.

Enemy Phase

Feeling the power behind Uriel's magic, Red Nomad backed up before attacking the shamaness back. Both arrows find their target (54,42), but so does Uriel's magic (53)

Uriel is hit for 8 damage (21/29 remaining). She gains +7 XPs and +1 Dark Use. Red Nomad has 11/29 HP remaining.

The other Nomad chooses to instead focus on Raikos, who had so far managed to avoid being targeted altogether. While the attack is accurate (46) it is by far not enough to fell the armored knight, though the Nomad is too far out of range for Raikos to hit him with his sword.

Raikos is hit for 7 damage, 21/28 HP remaining. He gains +1 XPs.

The Monks have in the meantime moved into position. Three of them target Raikos as well, using range to their advantage, and two manage to hit (70,88,29), though it doesn't hurt much.

Raikos is hit for a total of 6 damage, 15/28 HP remaining. He gains +3 XPs.

The final Monk heads to the nearby ledge, targeting the mage down below. The exchange proves mostly trivial, the Monk hitting Myriam despite the magical disadvantage (49) and while in return he gets hit twice for his trouble (39,90), Myriam's magic is simply not strong enough to breach the Monk's defenses.

Myriam is hit for 4 damage, 22/26 HP remaining. She gains +10 XPs and +2 Wind Use.

The Priests heal Green Monk and Red Nomad to full health.

Re: Paid Zealotry - Battle Thread

With everything reaching a stable medium, Raina could see that the unit wasn't getting more than it had when the battle started...which was good for them but not the enemies. Regardless, seeing that Uriel was injured once more, Raina went over to heal her, seeing to that she healed Miriam the next chance she had.

Re: Paid Zealotry - Battle Thread

Just as the conflict of exchange occurred in front of her, Miriam felt the fluctuation of magic on top of the ledge to her left and instinctively braced herself as a thunderous attack hit her body jolting the Panthera a bit. Knowing how useless it was however, Miriam counterattacked with two wind blades albeit it didn't do anything at all due to the monk's resistance. Frowning, and before the Panthera was able to digest on what happened, she heard the words of Raikos and took notice that she might not be able to take the Plain Nomad down alone..

"Lady Uriel, by the off-chance my attacks doesn't finish off the wounded nomad, please deal the killing blow.", Miriam told Uriel as she passed by her as the Panthera positioned herself in front of her target and sent two razor gales to the rider, the first one hitting the latter in a critical spot, while the last one finished him off.

..Did Commander Raikos predicted this?, absentmindedly thought Miriam..

Re: Paid Zealotry - Battle Thread

Given that she could not leave her position, Uriel instead targeted the final remaining Nomad. The healers were likely to just heal him back to full again, but it was the thought that mattered. Unfortunately, the thought did end up mattering quite a bit, as her own attack missed. The Rider however was more fortunate.

OOC: Attack Red Nomad

16:09, Today: Uriel Marineka rolled 128 using 3d100 with rolls of 82,26,20.  Uriel vs. Red Nomad (79 to hit, 3 to crit). Hit, and 2 counterhits.

Miss, hit for 8 damage (2x4). +1 XPs, +1 Dark Use.

Enemy Phase

Red Nomad attempted to press his advantage, and again both arrows found their mark (12,61), but this time, so did Uriel's dark magic (24).

Uriel is hit for 8 damage (13/29 remaining). She gains +7 XPs and +1 Dark Use. Red Nomad has 20/29 HP remaining.

The Monks, in the meantime, continue to pelt on Raikos' armor. This time, all three manage to land their hits (65,39,66). They do not do much in terms of damage, though it is beginning to add up.

Raikos is hit for a total of 9 damage, 19/28 HP remaining. He gains +3 XPs.

Unable to reach his buddies as well, Green Monk decides to target the Mage again. His attack lands (47), though the blow felt less painful than the one before it, yet while both of Miriam's attacks find their target as well (69,8) they are once again shrugged off by the Monk.

Myriam is hit for 3 damage, 20/27 HP remaining. She gains +9 XPs and +2 Wind Use.

Red Priest heals Red Nomad back to full, and Plain Priest decides to reposition so there are still people between the enemies and him.

NPC Phase

Septimus is hesitant to place himself in danger, and decides to stay put.

Re: Paid Zealotry - Battle Thread

With the battle turning in their favor, all that was needed now was a little more force against the enemy. Moving backwards, Raikos would slash at the remaining Nomad. Raikos would start to feel burdens of such a prolonged battle, in both fatigue and pain, as Raikos noticed his own sword swings seemed to be getting sloppier.

After giving the Nomad the proper swing, Raikos looked over to Miriam and gave orders once more

"Miriam, we'll go and take down the last Nomad, but switch positions with Uriel."

Raikos would also take the time to look over to Uriel and speak as well

"Uriel, move up so we can hold the line once more."

Re: Paid Zealotry - Battle Thread

Miriam nods once again towards the direction of Raikos, positioning herself to take the place of Uriel's position (I17, presuming Uriel moves away from it), as the Panthera prepared her magic..

"Lady Uriel, in the off-chance, again, that I cannot fell the bow-wielding rider, can you please take him down?", came the same question once again by Miriam as she fired a single gale of sharp wind to the nomad who counterattacked with his own bow, the arrow lodging itself to Miriam's right shoulder as the mage winced in pain as she kept herself from feeling the bloody sensation flowing afterwards as the latter sent another follow-up gale: both the first and the last finding their marks to the rider, of course.

Re: Paid Zealotry - Battle Thread

Uriel gave a quick nod as she moved into position as well. While the chance of getting hit by another arrow would have been zero had she advanced a little further, it would also have opened their line up and allow the Monks to reach Septimus. And given the amount of healing the old man had been responsible for, she figured risking an arrow to be worth it. But only in this case.

However, it seemed that fortune smiled upon her, as her blast struck the Nomad cleanly in the chest, sending him off his horse and out of the battle as she raked up her second kill of the day.

Orders:
- Move to H18
- Attack Plain Nomad

01:54, Today: Uriel Marineka rolled 137 using 3d100 with rolls of 39,22,76.  Uriel vs. Plain Red Nomad (79 to hit, 3 to crit). Hit, and 2 counterhits.

Plain Nomad hit for 10 damage. +24 XPs, +1 Dark Use, +1 KO.

Enemy Phase

Seeing the last of the riders fall, the Priests begin to hastily retreat in the direction of the Armors near the castle. The Monks, now outnumbered, try to reposition themselves to close ranks, though the tide of battle seemed to have been turned against them.

Two of them decide to target Raikos again, though in the snow only one of them manages to land a hit (86,34), for minor damage. The Monks remain out of reach of his sword, making sure not to get too close to the armored rider.

Raikos is hit for 3 damage, 16/28 HP remaining. He gains +2 XPs.

The remaining three Monks target the much slower Uriel, and the shamaness sees a barrage of Light magic being hurled her way (4x auto-hits). The damage they cause is minimal however, and despite the disadvantage, Uriel's magic does manage to find one target (23,81).

Uriel is hit for a total of 8 damage, 21/29 HP remaining. Red Monk has 24/26 HP remaining. Uriel gains +10 XPs and +2 Dark Use.

Both Priests retreat in the direction of the castle.

NPC Phase

Re: Paid Zealotry - Battle Thread

As the Priests have begun to fall back, Raikos took this opportunity to push forward and assault the monks whom were giving his team much trouble. As he did, Raikos came close to dealing a critical strike against the monk, but he was lucky as it only left him dreadfully near death. However, Raikos could see the look in the monk's wrathful gaze as Raikos slashed him, and he knew that he'd need to be taken down immedietly, especially since Raikos's own wounds would only be a weakness to be exploited by that monk. Turning back to Uriel and Miriam, Raikos spoke

"They're pulling back, with the healers gone we need to take down these monks. Be wary of them though. We should take out the most injured one first."

As Raikos had spoken about this, the monk had time to get up and fire a wrathful blow towards Raikos. Raikos, who did not expect such an attack, was thrown off his horse by the attack. Unlike the other attacks so far, this attack pierced through his armor and caused extreme damage to Raikos. Though regardless of the damage taken, Raikos still got back up and unto his horse, wheezing terribly due to the wound.

Miriam suddenly felt a healing aura surround her, just in time when she pulled out the arrow that struck her shoulder, which closed the wounds located there: turning back to glance back at Father Septimus with a nod of appreciation as well as a 'My thanks, Father.', before the Pantherian positioned herself just behind Raikos and striking the same monk he attacked despite the futility: earning herself a well-placed strike of lightning which jolted her a lot which caused some of her armor and clothes to be burnt and sizzle a bit despite the two blades of wind Miriam attacked with mostly due to the high resistance of the astral monk..
