Part 6 is up. Part 7 will see the arrival of the next cast member who remains with us in spirit, if not in body (because his body is frozen in a block of ice miles under the earth): Three Elks!

And part 7 is up. This one was getting long so I decided to stop it here. There's quite a bit more exploration of this keep ahead.

Sorry for my extended absence. I got back from Europe in time to host/coordinate 3 on campus interviews for a retiring college's position. I'm hoping it will only be a week more before things settle back to regular Spring Semester crazy.

Thank you for all the work, Lucien, that is amazing.

Welcome back Jinx, you vanished during a good time, we were just catching up our two new heroes on what had been going on.

There is a full recap that our new Chronicler wrote!

Are you intending to straight back to the troll caverns? And, if so, will you be going through the mines again to get there?

Re: OOC II

No. The route through the keep requires you to cross the Churnett River and then travel through the Thornwood, so it wouldn't be any faster and would definitely be more dangerous.

Re: OOC II

Part 9 is up. We were in a groove in this section. Some great roleplay that I really enjoyed re-reading AND the entire cast stuck around for this entire section! The DM did have to send Kuiper in to help us out of a zombie ambush, but we really gelled as a group here.

Sorry about skipping Friday and Saturday, but I had a lot going on. I expect one more section before the recap is caught up. Probably have that up tomorrow.

Reading through all this reminded me about a lot of loot we've received that we haven't used. Is someone carrying a bunch of spell scrolls? And who has that Robe of Useful Items? I think Three-Elks had the +1 flail so we'll need to get that back from the trolls. I know Rissa has the cottage and Lucien has his Cloak of the Bat. I think that's all the big stuff.

Ha!  I thought I read something about a cottage in a pocket. I assumed it was a typo. :)

Re: OOC II

Hehe, it was not. She keeps most of her stuff in the cottage, along with the party's loot and supplies. It's basically an Instant Fortress, but not a fortress. The DM had to remind me about it at one point, because I'd totally forgotten about its existence. A freaking Staff of Frost was just *chilling* in there, waiting for someone to come grab it.

Spell scrolls are nice for the Wizard. Do we have one of those now?

Stinking cloud, fly, and dispel magic, though it's possible Terminax absconded with them. GM ruling?

Re: OOC II

Rissa I believe we have quite a lot of scrolls. Some from the Gleaming Glade loot and some from the necromancers. I'll get a list and post them if no one has them in their inventory. There's also a magical spear from the orcs. Not sure if anyone wants that.

Part 10 is up. I was far too optimistic in thinking that it would be the last section as it turns out. There's one more to go. Jinx finally appears in this one!

Re: OOC II

I won't feel comfortable calling dibs on any magical items for like.... Five levels.

I have a freaking Staff of Frost!

From what I understand, this module is all about giving the PCs artifacts to overcome what would normally be a TPK.

Like a CR 14 encounter with 12 trolls.

Re: OOC II

We have the following scrolls: stinking cloud, fly, dispel magic x2, hold person, melf's acid arrow, aid, bless, lesser restoration x2, and cure wounds x2.

Generally, I believe our tally of magic items is:
  • Rissa: Staff of Frost, Ring of Free Movement, Robe of Useful Items, Shrinking Cottage
  • Three Elk's Body: +1 Flail
  • Lucien: Cloak of the Bat
  • No One: Enchanted Spear

Re: OOC II

As a bard, Alisandra can use any scroll. For the up coming battle, stinking cloud and acid arrow would be great.

May I suggest that Rissa take bless and use it at start of battle on herself, Jinx, and Lorrain or Lathan. These are (I think, other than Lathan) our primary ranged magic users who would benefit from the hit and save bonus.

^^ Spell casters may use a spell scroll only when the spell is on their class list, no?

Re: OOC II

Because of Spell Secrets, any spell can be on a bard's list. This is an educated guess, Rissa has a devine patron which means she can cast bless. You can as well so If you want you can cast it. It is a concentration spell, so it might compete with others.

Re: OOC II

I have Bane from the Divine Magic feature.

I could take bless next level, but it would mean missing out on swapping one of my level 1 spells to a level 2. It's a good spell, but I don't know if it's better than Spiritual Weapon or Searing Ray.

Edit:  Oh, the scroll of bless, I'm dumb.  Yeah, I can cast that.

I can use the scrolls of stinking cloud, fly, dispel magic, melf's acid arrow if nobody else can use them. I'm a level 4 wizard and I sling spells as fast as I can post each round :)

But it would be nice for me to get an opportunity to add any and all spells into my spellbook for future use. Otherwise, it's one and done. But that requires 50 gold per spell level to copy spells into the spellbook :)

spells = Gold expenses. LOL

We can afford to cover your transcribing costs.

Let's for sure get you with Melf's memorized before we fight the trolls.  Any objections to letting them transcribe all four? Certainly none from me.
