The party begins their assault on the keep, with Lathan and Lucien firing arrows at the guard atop the tower. Lathan's arrow finds its mark, but Lucien's arrow flies over the guard's head. Terminax hurls a fire bolt at the guard, hitting him. The guard remains standing and reaches for the lever that triggers the bell.

Meanwhile, Rissa and Three Elks rush for the walls on the opposite side of the keep, but about halfway across the clearing, Three Elks falls into a well-concealed, ten-foot-deep pit trap, impaling himself on one of the sharpened wooden poles set inside. Rissa manages to sidestep the pit and avoid falling in.
