Drawing the trolls into the parties trap Jinx tried to balance her desire to both be helpful and to stay as far away from the trolls as possible. Staying twoards the middle of the group, Jinx readied her arcane fire for any troll that got too close to the group.

Lathan fires an arrow at one of the approaching trolls but it flies wide. Lucien hits the troll with an arrow. Rissa's eldritch blast glances off it harmlessly. Jinx hits it with a fire bolt. Snagger and Three Elks make it behind the traps with the others. Alisandra's healing word bolsters Three Elks, who also uses his own magic to stitch up his wounds.

The largest of the trolls (#6) is yelling and howling loudly; the noise echoes through the tunnel at a near-deafening volume.

Next round. The trolls are now about 60 feet from the traps.

Rissa raised her staff, and as she did it began to glow from within with a fierce and piercing light. For the first time since she'd grasped it, the shadow within its core was banished, her own Art being supplanted by the much greater magic of the enchantment. It shook in her grip, and she grasped it with her other hand to steady it as as frost and snow began to materialize and gather at its tip.

Action: Hold action to cast Cone of Cold from the Staff the second the last troll is in range, moving up if I need to so as to not kill any of my friends with it.

Once Three Elks was behind the traps, he taunted the trolls. He shouted and made gestures that he hoped was obscene enough for them to understand. [Language unknown: Ut ithat toli o find ingredtra!]

Lucien clears the way for Rissa to move forward as she wields the staff. He doesn't know exactly what it will do, but he knows Rissa has been itching to use it since she found it and he suspects he does not want to be between her and her target.

With the trolls quickly approaching the traps, Lucien also decides that it's time to incentivize them to continue their charge. With a mental command, the invisible mage hand pours the oil in the flask it is holding across the floor of the passage behind the trolls. While this is carried out, Lucien pulls one of the torches he is carrying out of his pack and unwinds the cloth, tossing aside the stick when he is done. He then pulls out and arrow and wraps the cloth around the arrow head. Finally he pulls out flint and tinder and sets about lighting his improvised fire arrow.

Bonus Action: Order the Mage Hand to pour the oil across the passage behind the trolls.
Action: Make a fire arrow.

Lathan steps to the side, out of Rissa's way, then fires another arrow at the first troll. This one finds its mark.

Alisandra casts faerie fire on the group of trolls but only manages to affect one of them. Lathan puts an arrow straight through the chest of the first troll but it keeps moving forward. The trolls surge forward and fan out to attack the party, triggering Jinx's snare spells and Lucien's hunting traps; only one of the trolls gets caught in a magical trap, while two of them get stuck in the hunting traps. Snagger hacks into the same troll that Lathan hit. Lucien's mage hand pours oil behind the trolls as he prepares a flaming arrow.

Pause round... Rissa, Jinx, and Three Elks can revise their actions if they want. Alisandra hasn't declared an action for this round yet.

Rissa summons a wall of ice that cuts through the line of trolls, pushing them toward the party and sealing them off from their cave. The wall of ice destroys the mechanical traps that had ensnared two of the trolls. Alisandra and Jinx hit the troll that Lathan had hit, taking it down. Three Elks' vicious mockery cuts into the psyche of one of the five remaining trolls; it rubs its head and turns to attack him.

Lucien grins as Rissa manages to trap the trolls with the group and cut off their escape."Now they can't run away. Well done Rissa!" Since it is no longer needed, Lucien tosses his fire arrow aside and draws out another shaft from his quiver. He also releases the magic controlling the mage hand since it is now trapped on the far side of the ice wall.

Deciding to leave the trolls stuck in the trap for last and the troll lit by Alisandra's magic for the others, Lucien sends a mental command to his familiar that sends it swooping in at another one of the trolls. Right behind the diving bird he lets fly his arrow which finds its mark in the trolls hide.

Familiar: Use Help action against troll #7.
Action: Longbow attack against troll #7 hits AC 17 for  17 damage.
Move: Fallback and keep distance with the trolls.

Rissa stood for a moment, shocked at the scale of what she had just accomplished. It was Lucien's flying arrow that snapped her back to consciousness, and she pulled her hexcraft from one of the fallen Trolls and placed it on the one glowing brightly before her.  She followed up with a bolt of shadow of her own, it struck the nearest troll hard in the chest.

Then she was scurrying away, her fingers shaking where they clasped the staff.

Lathan's arrow flies wide of its intended target. The troll attacks Three Elks, slashing him with its clawed hand. A second troll bites Three Elks but is distracted by Alisandra's words and barely misses the badly wounded warrior with a claw attack. The last two free trolls attack Snagger, but only one of them manages to hit him, biting the dwarf on the arm. Snagger retaliates, hacking the troll with his battleaxe, then beginning to retreat; the troll claws him as he backs away. Lucien and Rissa each hit a troll as they back away. Alisandra fires her crossbow but misses. Jinx hits one of the trolls that attacked Three Elks with a fire bolt. Three Elks smashes that troll in the face with his flail.

"Three Elks!"

Rissa ran forward into the danger, pulling healing light from her staff and throwing it at the fallen Elf. Then she threw another blast of shadow, but it shattered to nothing on the troll's hide.

Lucien sees Three Elks fall, but decides that the best thing he can do is press the attack. He manages, with the help of another diving attack from his familiar, sink another arrow deep into the same troll he had just hit.

Familiar Action: Help against troll #7.
Action: Longbow attack hits AC 15 for 20 damage.
Move: Fall back only if necessary.
