On the Hunt

Glancing at the pain in his hand with shock, the Jotunn looks around to find the source of the pain, when he spots the jet-black Jotunn behind it. Rather than appealing to it like an ally however, the giant blue monstrosity cries out in panic, and staggers backwards, narrowly missing the oncoming club-like blow aimed for it's head.

"Harraahhh, what?" He raises his own club, but the darker foe presses forward, pressing the necromancer backwards, off balance. Dropping his club, he drops to one knee, then scrambles on all fours as the dark giants club struggles to find it's target!

Two, three, then four giant swings of the club, and the necromacer-Jotunn stumbles, and with a final confused look, stumbles off the edge of the Fjord, falling down into the ocean below!

As he fell, one of the chains he wore around his neck got hooked a tree, dangling over the edge, though from the resounding splash and huge wave of freezing cold water that washed over them, the Jotunn had not found a way to grab into it. Dangling over the water in a metal cage, a strange figure of a man gibbers in panic and fear...

OOC: Does it appear as if this new giant has seen any of us?  Does it even seem concerned with our presence?

Dragnar, still moving slowly -- say, at the pace of a slow walk -- moves toward the "new" giant.

On the Hunt

Ducking behind some cover as the necromancer-jotunn staggers past on its way over the cliff, Sigurd quickly gets up and continues his run to the precipice.

Seeing the man suspended in the cage, the outlaw begins climbing down the cliff face towards the man.

OOC: 85% chance to climb walls unarmored. Hopefully the rocks are not so sheer to counteract the wetness.

Dragnar slows to a stop.  He turns to his companions (or the nearest one) and, with a big smile, says

"I really wasn't sure that was going to work.  But I couldn't warn you, or it might have spoiled the surprise."

As Amund crouches down thinking of how to defeat his hated foe, Geri lets out a quick sharp bark causing Amund to look up in time to see the second Jotunn defeat the first.  "See Geri, these Jotunn are too stupid to know who the real threat is.  Amund may have to teach this new Jotunn a lesson."

Before he could continue with his threat Amund sees Dragnar out in the open and hears his pronouncement of the other Jotunn belonging to him.  This bewilders Amund who jumps out of his hiding place with both swords out as he confronts the Bard.  "How can this be?  Are you in league with the Jotunn?  If you are, so help Amund if Amund allows you to live!"

Dragnar looks shocked at Amund's recriminations.  He puts his hands in front of him, palm down.

"No, no, my friend, you misunderstood.  'My' Jotunn was not a Jotunn at all.  It was a fake . . . an image of a giant, made to look real.  It was a new incantation I had learned, one that I had not used before.  I intended to distract the real monster, to keep it from focusing on us whilst we found a way to defeat it.  I had not expected it to be so"

Dragnar turns and looks at the cliff, then back to Amund,

"successful."

Geri took Dragnars explanation well as his menacing attitude quickly resided and he took on a more playful, joyful demeanor.

He then notices the man in the cage and barks loudly, tugging at Amunds tunic to get his attention.

Amund continues to eye Dragnar suspiciously as he processes the new information received.  "So . . . your saying that other thing was not really a Jotunn; and you are not in league with any real Jotunn?  Amund is confused, magic arts do that to Amund.  Amund will watch Dragnar closely before calling him a true friend.  As for now, it seems Geri trusts you, so Amund will trust you."

As Amund slowly sheathes his weapons, he is clearly annoyed by the continual pestering of Geri.  As he turns to shout at his friend, he sees the man in the cage and runs over to see if he can help him out from his predicament.

Vermundr had never seen such magic in his days!  Such things were only the realm of the gods but here stood a man with such gifts!  He would have to ponder this another time for as the enemy disappeared, so did his passion and with that came the very real pain that he was in.

"I'm not trying to sound like a child, but could someone perhaps hand me something a little strong to drink?  I'm having a little trouble standing", as he collapses to one knee with a look of both pain and sarcasm.

Klaengr was out of spells for healing but he did his best to bind Vermundr's wounds and anyone who needed it, using a bit of herbs and other remedies non-magical. As he did his work, he agreed with Amund.

"That magic, it was not natural! Give us all heart attacks! I nearly jumped of the cliff myself, take my chances with Aegir's sea than face two of these giant brutes!  Next time give us a bit o' warning, Dragnar, please!!"

OOC everyone except Erik roll a d4, then roll a d12 that (the d4 result) number of times please.

The man in the cave is in himself a mystery, strange is shape and size and calling out in a language none of the others have ever heard before.

The meaning is quite clear, the man wants to be saved, the question as to if he should be or not is perhaps less clear. He did, after all, fall off the Jotunn.
