"Your plan is acceptable Bard.  Even though Amund does not understand, Amund trusts you.  Amund can almost taste the Jotunn blood now!  Begin with your plan, Amund will be ready."

The ruckus is almost certain to have gotten the attention of the monstrous youths. Does the party take any action, or does the discussion continue?

Klaengr motions to the nearby trees or rocks for cover, and hopes that everyone but Dragnar follows his lead to lay ambush rather than being ambushed by the coming Jotunn. He finds a nice rock to crouch behind and waits to see what happens.

Klaengr sees four Jotunn, no longer moving, and glancing in the general direction of the party. There is one female, who appears to be nibbling on a limb from a long dead human torso. One of them has dark black skin. This one has shaved his head, unlike the others who have long unkempt hair. This one has dropped to one knee, and has one hand placed on the ground, though he too in looking in your direction and not at his hand...

Dragnar, readies himself for the combat he knows is coming. "Odin, your true son am I, I pledge you my sword and to no man I kneel. " He then slowly maneuvers himself so that they will need to approach him in a group, giving his friends a better chance to surprise them when the time was right.

Klaengr makes the finger over lips motion for silence from the others, trying to get eye contact with them so they see, and then gives motions indicating the direction of the Jotunn and holds up on his hand how many. He tries to be stealthy and waits to see what the black one does.

Hruun shrugs.  He is displeased with the dissention and the assertiveness of the others against the cleric.  Respect must be given to those chosen by the Gods.  Shaking his head, he too hides behind one of the larger of the rocks and watches the black Jotuun carefully.  The grip on his sword tightens with anticipation of blood shed.

Amund and Geri, being expert hunters stealthily move across and blend into the trees, getting a fine view of the open area where Dragnar stands as bait, and also have a commanding view of the others just in case the cowardly Jotunn try to ambush them.  Amund sheathes his swords and holds his Mace of Jotunn Smashing.  He watches carefully, grinning gleefully.

Vermundr felt that Dragnar's plan would work well. He found a tree or a rock to hide behind and wait for the Jotunn to approach Dragnar. Vermundr was ready to pounce on them as soon as they got close enough for him to move and attack quickly. It took a lot of willpower for him not to rush off charging them as soon as their direction was known, but he knew they had a better chance of killing them all if they waited.

The tense moment drew on, then a rock the size of a hen crashed into Vermundr from the side!

How could he not have remembered that there had been nine of them, but only four stood watching from the north!

Shouts, growls and roars came from a wide arc around the party!

Exposed and out in front, Dragnar watched the four in front of him expectantly, but they do not approach. Instead the kneeling black-skinned Jotunn cried out something unintelligible, and the weeds and roots around the bards ankles came to life, attempting to tie him down!

Rocks and dirt clods fall amongst the party, several missing, several being knocked aside by shield or buckler. No further missiles connect, but the Jotunn have stepped out from behind their cover and are advancing on the party!

Amund takes a few steps aggressively toward the Jotunn that cast the spell.  "Wicked filth you are, but using magic on top of that is an abomination that Amund will not tolerate!"  He fires his mace at the magic-using Jotunn and yells out "Herja!"  The mace sprouts its wings and fly's true to its target, erupting as it hits the Jotunn.

Klaengr moves to where he can benefit the most of his warriors (preferably where everyone is within 30' of him) and begins his Chant for Aegir to bless his kinfolk and curse the Jotunn.

"The might of the sea, storm and wind, curses to our enemy, blessed be kin."

OOC: Move as far as needed and still be able to cast to get maximum benefit from the spell (30' radius) and then cast Chant.

Vermundr moved toward Dragnar to aid his friend. He did take care not to move into the area where the very plants had been corrupted by the evil Jotunn to turn against us. Foul majicks indeed! He just to where he could try to intercept any Jotunn that might want to converge on Dragnar. He readied his weapon, and waited for them to approach, planning to attacks when they are in range.

OOC: this is based on the info posted that they were starting to advance, if they seem to be staying back to continue ranged attacks he will go to them instead. Also I am rusty and not sure if 2E has "held actions" or not but that is what he is attempting.

Hruunwulf is startled at the sudden appearance of a writhing mass of grasses and weeds that attempt to hold the druid.  His stomach drops as the realization of impending battle hits him.  Now was his chance to prove himself among his new companions.  With a war cry, Hruun charges to the right where he sees three of the Jotuun advancing.

"AAaaaaaaaiiiiigghhhhhhhh!" he screams as he crashes into the fray.

Not sure what melee bonus double specialized gives me... its not included.  At present roll, hits AC5 I think...

A time of ill omens

The bard struggles forward against the evil, writing of the weeds, fiercely staring down the black skinned Jotunn, when suddenly from his left a winged mace flies thru the air, destroying the skull of his adversary, and burying itself deeply into the monsters torso...

As the dark-seed died, the weeds too lost their will to fight, freeing Dragnar from their grasp.

The dead Jotunn's comrades are stunned, but give a blood thirsty roar as they charge forward, all except the female who crouches by the corpse in shock.

On the left, a mottled grey-blue Jotunn roars as he charges Amund, but his foot sinks ankle deep in the snow, throwing off his lunge. His comrade twists and turns, swinging a tree stump at Geri, dances around him barking, unharmed for the moment...

Klaengr steps out of the right side of the culvert, and begins calling upon the might of the storm god to bring aid to their endeavor, a call which sends a surge of morale thru the bard and the three fighters at his side, each of which is charged by a Jotunn!

Vermundr gets his battle axe up in time to divert the blow aimed at crushing him, but Ludvig and Hrunnwulf are not so luck, both taking blows to their torsos from the scarred, callused knuckles of their foes, but Hrunnwulf manages to return a devastating blow, slicing the monsters abdomen open and causing it's guts to spill forth! It collapses with a groan, dead...

Swinging his large battle axe upward at the nearest Jotunn, Vermundr yells a savage, "Grrraaaarrr!!!"

OOC:

23:50, Today: Vermundr rolled 9 using 1d8+7.  damage.
23:47, Today: Vermundr rolled 21 using 1d20+3.  Attack Jotunn 8.

22 to-hit with Chant, that hits AC -5 (with his 17 THACO), if I remember how to do this.

+1 damage for Chant, means it does 10 total.

THAC0 is super easy, take that number, then subtract the AC. Or you can just look at the combat grid, which shows your to hit for the critter AC's.
