A time of ill omens

The mighty Ludvig did cleave the Jotunn who dared face him nigh in two with a might blow of his two handed sword and Vermundr found meat for his rage as well!

Enraged, the Jotunn's fist lashed out, bloodying Vermundr's mouth, but even as he retaliated, Hruunwulf came around behind him and struck him down!

Across the field of battle, Amund and his foe traded blows, both warriors holding their ground, though Amund had gotten the better of the exchange.

Geri's continued to distract one of the monsters, but the creature managed to kick the hound solid in the ribs, sending him flying onto his back. Geri quickly rolled to his feet though, ready to continue the battle...

Meanwhile, at the head of the battle Dragnar cried out a challenge, followed by a spray of color akin to the Bifrost bridge itself leapt from him hands, causing the three Jotunn in front of him to slump to the ground unconscious.

All except Amund stand, jaws agape at the sight of magic from the hands of one whom they thought they knew as a human and a companion... what had just happened?

"Justice like lightning
Swiftly delivered.

Power, Aegir bring,
Our cause you have heard."

The remaining Jotunn are made short work of, assuming the party even slits the throat of the female.

The human torso that she was nibbling on lays by her side.

The dark skinned Jotunn wears a ring upon the middle finger of his right hand. It is made of dark iron, and has a sigil of a lightning bolt on it.

"Well fought brothers, I see they intercepted a messenger with his satchel this is not good." Looks to the others for their input, " I should have Davion fly back to town and let them know and if light enough carry the messages. He will be able to find me where ever we are." again looks for anyone that might have a problem with that.

He then walks toward the three Jotunn he struck down with the Bifrost Bridge. "Odin, your son thanks his father for his aid and gifts to rid the world of creatures such as these, continue to guide and bless your son."

Klaengr stops his chant and says a short prayer of thanks to Aegir.  Then he goes to investigate the bodies, including the human torso, to see if there is any clue to them.

"Dragnar, what was that colored light? How came you be that power?"

The body was of a male, but without head or limbs not much identification is possible, however he does notice the body wore grey felt, with the appearance of a uniform.

New to this land, such a costume bears no meaning to the son of the storm.

Hruunwulf pulls the dark iron ring from the finger of the dark skinned Jotuun.  He examines it closely for marks other than the lightning bolt.

"This one worshipped Thor, I think." Hruun says, turning the ring within his fingers.

Blasphemy indeed! No Jotunn would worship the lords of Asgard, no Asgardian would allow it! But what else could the symbol mean? The bolt of Thor is always of golden, or painted so however. It must mean something else...

A new thought enters the warrior's mind.  What if the ring has some mystical religious effect, he thinks.  That dark skinned Jotuun did command the ground to burst to life and entangle Dragnar.

"Or... perhaps it is a ring of a darker god.  A god of the Jotuun." Hruun says with a voice of concern.  He now holds the ring between two fingers carefully, as if it would strike at him at any moment.

"Perhaps you should consider this ring Dragnar.  May be something within your realm of knowledge." he says, holding the ring out to the mystic.

"The dead human is from a guild of messengers, I should have Davion inform the town and if possible carry any messages in the satchel." he then waits till all are present before continuing." As long as I can remember, I have had a sense to things that are different. Not until Davion came to me was I able to channel or harness anything. He told me, I was Odin's son bestowed with gifts of power from him to rid this world of evil. I can release magic I guess through these gifts and at times can even touch the fabric of the weave of fate. How I am able and others aren't is unknown to me or cared, I have these gifts and plan to use them."

Dragnar accepts the ring and examines it closely and feels it,sensing what it is hiding.
"This ring is magical, although if good or bad or for what purpose at this time remains unclear. With more time and studing and Odin's aid, I will find more information for everyone."

After finishing patching Geri's wounds, Amund and Geri pick through the Jotunn's carcasses for loot and then wander over to the rest of the group.  "Amund told you Klaengr, Jotunn are always up to no good and deserve their fate!  They deserve Amund's blades!  Ha!"

The search of the Jotunn finds nothing more than the items already found.

Geri licks at his comrades face as he gets bandaged, smart enough to know that the effort is for his own good. The war-hound is hurt, but still eager to move forward.

The news that the human torso was messenger is intriguing, but there is no way to question the person now.

Dragnar gives Davion the messengers pouch, and a message of his own, and sends the bird back, fully expecting him to return before the end of the day.
