Day 4.1 - Red Larch

The group collects their things after a warm if not satisfying lunch, and heads out into the mid-afternoon heat. The dust rises beneath their feet as they make their way to the butcher's shop just south of the crossroads at the center of town, and they enter Jalessa Ornra's butcher shop.

Inside, the shop is a bustle of activity. Various patrons come and go as Jalessa and her butchers respond to customers' orders. Harburk catches the group's eye and motions them outside the shop.

Once outside, Harburk speaks quickly in low tones. "Melliko's forbade me or my trusties from entering the quarry. A couple of my assistants spent a night there, but now the woman won't let any of us near that place. She says nobody's to be allowed down there without her presence. I have suspicions something's not right, but Melliko's a town elder, and I can't go against her word. So." He hesitates, looking around again for anyone who might be eavesdropping. "If someone was to check out the quarry, tonight'd be the time to do it. There's a town elder's meeting until late, and the quarry shouldn't be monitored. Someone going down there shouldn't be noticed, as long as they stay away from the road. But if anyone is caught down there... we never had this conversation."

For those of you who want to visit the constable, feel free to post in this thread.

If you want to skip this thread feel free to keep posting in the current Lance Rock Part 2 thread to stay in the inn, or leave the inn for another destination & I can setup a separate thread if needed.

If it works out we could continue this thread and move on to Vallivoe's.

Day 4.1 - Red Larch

Bramwell greeted the constable pleasantly, and briefly informed him of what had transpired at Lance Rock and assured him that he need expect no further trouble from that place.  The half-elf listened intently to Tuthmarillar's update on quarrymistress Mellikho's suspicious behavior.  He nodded slowly and replied, "Her forbidding your lawmen access to the quarry and her previous insistence that the masked figures not be investigated suggest that they do exist and that she is in league with them.  She'd have no reason to insist on such secrecy except to conceal unlawful activity."  He glanced to his companions each in turn and then met the Constables eye, "We are still weary from this morning's adventure, but I think we could be ready by nightfall.  Is there anything else, before we make preparations?"

Day 4.1 - Red Larch

Harburk nods at Bram's news of the necromancer's fate. "Good work. One more thing I can cross off my list of worries."

He shakes his head at the mention of preparations for tonight. "I don't know anything else and I don't want to. However you spend your night is up to you."

Day 4.1 - Red Larch

Jak was fine with letting Bram do the talking. He listened but his eyes narrowed slightly at what the constable told them. That quarry owner was acting VERY suspicious. His curiosity was starting to go beyond 'getting the best of him' to 'rampaging with desire' to find out what was going on there, who the masked people were, everything!

He stayed quiet, however, and bottled it up for the moment. Night was a long way off still.
