Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

I haven't bought a book in eons.  I keep thinking that my life would be easier if I did.

I co-owned 1st edition books with a friend.  Recently -- and three decades later -- he asked if he could use them so he could try to entice some people into playing.  I did, but his effort failed.

I need to offer to buy him out.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Although these planning and decision times can take awhile of real time to work out, they are also good role playing and character building times, so I am going to let it play out awhile.  If, in two weeks, there is still no consensus.  Well, I'll have a horde of swamp demons attack the house....or something like that :-).

I am working up to an in-character way of asking for suggestions for several yes/no questions that I can ask my amulet .

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Rath, magic items work at 11th level unless otherwise specified, so you get 11 questions if you wish to use that power.

Although in realtime, you could ask one at a time, that will take forever in this format, but I know that answers might prompt different lines of questions, so if you want, you can do 5, then 5, and save 1 for last.

Sorry for my delay . . . my wife accelerated our new-house buying plans by about . . . oh, 7 years, and bought a new house.  We are quite unprepared.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Congrats!  Real estate is still the best investment IMO.  Was it something just too good to pass up, what prompted the sudden purchase?   Just curious, I've never regretted buying any house, even the odd one in France that I can't get a contractor to fix up for me, darn my poor french!

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Thanks for the encouragement, all!

Accident, really.  My wife and I were waiting for the oil in her car to get changed, and we were reading the paper in the garage.  She saw an article about this development and said, "let's just see what it's like."  We made an appointment, and four hours later I was writing a check for the earnest money.

12 hours later it hit us, and we spent the next day and half alternating between "Did we just do that?" and "Did we think this through?"

Of course, the answers were "yes" and "no" respectively -- but now that we've thought more we're going full speed ahead.

Bigger pain will be getting our current house ready to sell -- we don't plan to put it on the market until we move, but we don't want to procrastinate that either.  So a lot of work to do there, getting rid of stuff and so forth.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Forgive some slowness on my part.  The next few posts from me might be longish and somewhat complicated anyhow, but more than that, I've got 2 RL issues that have my time and brain.

My aunt died and her funeral is Saturday so I'm jumping on a bus tomorrow to go up to be with my family for a few days before and during the funeral.  It was a long illness that took her, so its neither unexpected or terrible by any means, just permanent.

The other issue has my brain and soul somewhat dazed.  One of my longtime dear friends, both he and his wife and son for some 30 years or more was arrested on some stunning charges.  It is so strange, we all in dumbfounded shock, but apparently, he does not deny the charges.  Geez.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

At this point, if you are going to try anything special in the land of Dream, please roll a d20+10, you can make it a secret roll if you wish, but I'll post any results.

This does not count for spells, those I'll handle differently, please roll a d100 for any spell.    Some spells will work normally but it'll be easier if you always roll the d100 so I can post results quicker.

Thanks!

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

I rolled a 13 for the first transformation.

Do you want me to roll for each try? If so, you may roll for me. It's an intellectual exercise - once done practicing, Marissa will likely use the dolphin form as her primary. Also good to have a backup plan, I think.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

So there's a hurricane that just hit the southeastern seaboard of the US. I'm about 100 miles inland, so I don't expect anything more than heavy gusts and rain...however, if the power goes out, my posting rate may decline.

Thoughts and prayers to any of you that might be on the east coast of the US during the storm. I hear that whiskey is a great tool for getting through such trials.

Marrisa, where are you?   I'm in southwest Virginia, Blacksburg area but higher up in the mountains.  We are just supposed to get about 4 inches of rain, which will create a mess but shouldn't be too dangerous.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

I'm in Columbia, South Carolina - pretty area where you're at, spent a good bit of time in Bristol some years back. Love their Hokies up there.

Soggy so far, some gusts. Lights are flickering, but we have plenty of water and non-perishable foods. Doritos go well with hurricanes...or so I hear.

Think we'll be okay, but the local power company isn't the greatest. Figure we'll lose power at some point.

Ha - spent a lot of time in Bristol, but also Kingsport which is closer to you, iirc. It's been awhile. LOL.

Some flickers on the power, but doing good so far down here.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

So I get the feeling that everyone is waiting for someone else to post, or do something because you aren't sure how things work in the dream plane.  Just a pep talk.  I'm not going to kill you off for trying something, not arbitrarily.  You have figured out you can change forms, at least for a little while, can move okay, Saliq has cast a spell of sorts, you tore the stuffings out of a dream spider, so far, so good.  Have fun with it, its a strange plane and you've only gotten a small taste of it so far.

Disclaimer: if you are all killed on the plane of dream, ignore what I just said :-)
