Romance, Sex, and Making Babies in Erenor: An Introduction
In Erenor, like in the real world, there are many aspects to sex, marriage, and romance. Some of these are defined by the Church, others by the general culture, and yet others by personal choice, fetishes, and current trends. Things are different for the Nobility than they are for Commoners, although this summary will focus far more on the former since there are more complexities and strangeness.

Bloodlines and Reproduction
Erenor is a country where one's family means quite a bit, and the bonds of blood are considered to be as strong as steel. Bloodlines can grow stronger or weaker depending on who is born between them and continues their path. Each member of the family is considered to have an obligation to try and continue the family line, although if some have had children the others may theoretically be 'covered'. This has created complications of course, given the nature of sex and romance.

Marriage
Marriage is considered a holy bond in the Althean Church. It is a divine connection between two souls, who are then to share their lives together, mix their blood to create children, and even enter the heavens together in death. Since time immemorial, marriages have been used to create families, form alliances between groups, and legally enforce rights of families and other forces. The fact that bloodline is sacred to the Erenorans has, in many ways, politicized marriage. A bond between two nobles can increase the power of one or both Noble Houses, help ensure healthy children, or a wide variety of other things. In Noble Erenoran society, marriages are most commonly arranged more for political reasons than love. Some of course, buck these traditions, something which almost always leads to scandal and gossip.

I'm kind of continuing the theme of several of the 'bad guy' nations being Foils to Erenor in various ways, partially on accident ha ha.

The Cursed Barony of Strigoi:

A twilight land of death and monsters.

General Overview: Covered by endless twilight through strange weather patterns and deep swamps, Strigoi has become something of a cursed land, one feared and mistrusted by many outsiders. The lands are filled with especially deadly monsters, ghosts, and other threats, and danger is always around the corner. They are kept safe and ordered by the mysterious Vampire Queen, whose sorceries and minions defend the people in return for a blood tithe donated by the citizenry. Since time immemorial it has been a cursed and bizarre land, with few visitors or traders and even less known about them. The people of Strigoi are paranoid, superstitious, inbred, and largely cowed by their vampiric masters. At least, so the legends go.

Geography: Strigoi is a land mostly composed of swamps and wetlands, areas that only the truly desperate fled to when the Terman Empire fell. In between the disgusting swamps are broken, rocky hills where the few humans make a living as sheep herders. Near one side of the Barony is a large mountain range, which traps and spreads the water through the region. In addition to the swampy air and atmosphere, Strigoi is unique in how there is almost constant rainfall and cloud cover, the nation seemingly being stuck in an eternal twilight. None can say if it is due to natural phenomena of the mountain range, some curse from the gods, or the foul magic of the Vampire Queen that causes it.

History: When the Terman Empire fell and the people were splintered, there was a race to capture land and resources in the shattered and chaotic lands following the great calamity. The faithful took the plains that would become Rand, the strong and organized took the valleys that would become Erenor, the clever tamed the deserts that would become Al'Quadar, each getting their own homes and fiefdoms. There were those however, who had none of these talents, and were forced to settle in terrible conditions. They fled to the wetlands and swamps, where they found a hell of disgusting water, biting bugs, wild plants and dangerous monsters awaiting them. The people were sure that they would die, that there was no hope.

But they came upon an unlikely savior, a creature spoken of in myth and legend. The Vampire Queen. She took pity upon the broken people who had fled to the swamp, and pledged to help them if they gave her their blood and obedience. The people were amazed by her beauty and awed by her power, and having few other options, created the covenant that would form Strigoi. The Vampire Queen tamed the wastes with her magic and minions, raising the most loyal, brave, and beautiful of the peasants to become her new court, the Midnight Aristocracy that would rule the land and protect the people.

Other nations scoffed at the idea of listening to or respecting a monstrous leader, but their armies were repelled and soon all feared the name of the lands. They called her a Baroness more out of spite, but she did not care for their slight. She had a kingdom now...one that would be eternal.

Government: The government of Strigoi is strictly feudalistic, albeit with stricter class divisions that might make even the most caste obsessed Daimyo uneasy. Each member of the Midnight Aristocracy has their own fiefdoms, ranging from small groups of peasants to vast tracks of land, but all must be subservient to the Vampire Queen, who holds court in the capitol city of Brasov. Peasants and serfs have few to no legal protections, and their treatment varies wildly based on the demeanor and whims of their particular vampiric lord. The Vampire Queen can override anyone's authority however, and is said to wander the lands on mysterious missions and aims.

Current Leadership: Since its creation the Barony of Strigoi has been ruled by the Vampire Queen, a mysterious being of incredible power and influence. Nobody is quite sure of her true appearance or name, although some use the names Lilith or Carmilla to refer to her. Some whisper she can change her shape, and go wherever she wills. The Vampire Queen can most often be found in her court of Brasov, entertained by her courtiers and partaking in parties and games, but she equally often wanders the lands, some say even outside of Strigoi.

Races: Strigoi is almost entirely human or formerly human. The Vampires prove a significant minority, and there are other undead creatures such as ghouls, ghosts, and wights who serve under and beneath them as well.

Faith: The Althean religion is almost unheard of in Strigoi. The Vampires tend to hate the sun and its respective goddess, while most of the peasantry feel abandoned by her. However, the Lunarian faith is still represented among the populace, as well as the old gods. Many villages, inbred and superstitious as they are, worship small local deities. The Vampire Queen has also allowed a cult to be formed in her name, which worship her as a deity while giving and drinking blood ritually. Some devotees are chosen to join the Midnight Aristocracy, providing them with many fresh members.

Major Industries:
Trade with the Barony of Strigoi is a strange thing. There are only a scarce few towns on the border where it exists at all, since foreigners are rarely let deeper into the kingdom. They provide various goods such as slaves and pigs, and they are traded largely for luxury goods, pieces of art, and strangely enough performers, especially slave ones.

Subsistence Farming and Gathering - With large areas of Strigoi covered by bogs and swamps, arable land is rare, and many families are forced to rely on gathering wild mushrooms and herbs to keep eating. Most peasants are forced to toil purely for survival, with little room for luxuries and the like. There are, however, a few rare mushrooms which fetch fine prices in outer markets, but these are usually plucked and sold by the Midnight Aristocracy.

Pig Raising - Hogs are lucky among animals in how they can eat just about anything. The Strigoi varieties of hogs and boars have developed especially strong stomachs, and are able to eat even the largely rotten and disgusting vegetation of the swampy terrain. As a result, pigs are a useful food source, especially since their blood is supposedly close to human enough that they can be safely consumed by poorer vampires. Pigs are one of the very few exports of the Cursed Barony, and considered surprisingly scrumptious considering their origin.

Blood - The men and women of Strigoi are protected from the myriad horrors of their homeland by the grace and benevolence of their Vampiric masters. In return however, all must pay the blood tithe, draining a certain amount of their blood and turning it in with the sorts of taxes usually taken by nobles of other nations. The constant draining of blood means illnesses are common, but even that is better than facing the wrath of the beasts of the swamp or their Vampiric masters.

Slavery - In such a hardscrabble land, families are often left with more children than they can reasonably feed, clothe, and support. However, there exist those willing to take on these children, and even pay the impoverished people for the privilege. The desperation of Strigoi makes them a producer of slaves for other lands, most notably the Al'Quadari. It's largely unknown how much the Midnight Aristocracy cares about the practice.

Military: The military of the Barony is mysterious and unknown. Althean crusaders once attempted to attack Strigoi, the few survivors returning with mad tales of monsters and foul magics. It seems the powers of the Vampire Queen are incredible indeed, and it said she can raise whole armies of undead beings to defend the province if necessary. Some members of the Midnight Aristocracy are said to also be supremely skilled knights stronger than any man, and having supernatural powers as well. A rare few have been seen in Erenoran games of Hastilitude or Bolgan Arenas, and they always make a most impressive showing. Thankfully the military of Strigoi has mostly kept to their own borders, something spymasters and scholars claim to be due to Vampire's weakness in sunlight.

The Midnight Aristocracy: The Midnight Aristocracy are the mysterious, immortal rulers of Strigoi. Although originally human, they were transformed into powerful and dangerous vampires, needing to subsist on blood but graced with power and strength. Their appearances are varied, with some looking like grotesque monsters and others as extremely beautiful humans. For whatever reason they patterned their society after the nobility of Erenor and Rand, with Gothic Castles, elegant balls and parties, and a sophisticated honor code.

While outsiders might see the Midnight Aristocracy as nothing but simple tyrants, in reality their society is more complex. Being immortal beings, the Midnight Aristocracy is under the constant threat of boredom, and must find some way to sate it. Some serve as knights battling eternally against the monsters of the swamp, others try to find ever new heights of pleasure and decadence, while yet others seek to find or create art that can sate their boredom, and finally some choose to sate themselves with mad games and politics, even marshaling their fiefdoms to war against one another over petty grudges.. The Aristocracy in Strigoi have intense personal power and privilege, even if they are expected to protect their subjects in return for the blood tithe. Occasionally they choose humans to bring into their number, transforming them as they gain title and influence. Becoming a vampire is the highest feat a Strigoi commoner can aspire to, as it brings riches, influence, and immortality.

House Noel:
Descended from the cunning tactician Cornelius Novius, the Noel family is considered to count among their number the greatest military commanders, bureaucrats, administrators, and businessmen in the realm. They host an intense program of tutorship, forcing their children to learn all they can at a young age. The position of Noel Tutor is considered one of the greatest honors for a scholar. Their children are expected to always lead, never follow, and to pursue their ambitions and become the highest position of whatever field they choose to follow. The Noel family is currently among the most ascendant, counting many fortresses and a huge wealth to their name. In the Royal Court they hold the privileged position of Royal Chamberlain.

House of the Banner, Of Generals Brave and Manors Gold

Deedname: Brightbanner. Earning the deedname of Brightbanner requires success in some sort of leadership role, proving the superiority and generosity of the Noel name. In the past, this was almost always done through serving as an officer in the military, but in more modern times is often done through other means. Some Brightbanners earn their deedname through success in business and trading, others through bringing prosperity to the lands under their stewardship, and yet others through serving the Royal Court as bureaucrats or functionaries. The paths to the Brightbanner name are wide and varied, although those who fail to distinguish themselves are rather swiftly shunned by the rest of the family, and if they get too old excommunicated entirely. The Brightbanners may be powerful and wise, but they do not tolerate failure.

Crest: A stylized depiction of a banner, the image of a star adorned on its surface.

Colors: Purple and Gold

Origin: Cornelius Novius was born to fairly humble origins the ancient Terman Empire. He was a firm believer in the importance of good leadership, and that with the right encouragement, even a tiny force of soldiers could overcome a massive army. He enlisted in the army and was assigned as an aide to Tiber Aelus himself, a task to which he served with distinction. Despite his young age and low birth, Tiber recognized his incredible talent for battlefield planning, logistical skills, and even his charisma. When the Terman Empire collapsed and the legion was reforming into new units, he chose Cornelius Novius as one of his most trusted generals. Cornelius was a truly brilliant tactician, and through careful positioning and strategy managed to overcome the odds numerous times. For his incredible service, and due to Cornelius's beliefs on leadership, he was given control of one of the great houses, starting a legacy that would last for centuries.

Overview: Alternatively known as House BrightBanner or the House of Scepter, the Noel family is considered to count among their number the greatest military commanders, bureaucrats, administrators, and businessmen in the realm.

Branches: The Noel family tends to have less children than many Noble families, partially since parents are expected to take a larger role in their children's lives and even more importantly to prevent the splintering of holdings and inheritances. Each branch is typically given control and influence over a particular region's holdings and management. This list is not exhaustive. Crossed out names are deceased.

Adam and Adele Brightbanner - Children Portia, Estelle, Raphael - Adam and Adele hold the important position of running the branch of the family that works directly in Ticium. They are deeply invested in the political and social life of the city, and are known to be a bit strict. Adele currently serves as Royal Chamberlain, while Adam manages the holdings and politics of the clan. Of their children, their twin girls were a mixed success, with Estelle becoming a general and Portia embarrassing the clan with her marriage to, of all things, a Crownguard.

Clement and Odette Brightbanner - Children Simone, Normande - Clement and Odette Brightbanner are the currently reigning family of House Brightbanner, inhabiting the family's famed Estate and sending down the marching orders for the rest of the clan to some degree. Clement is primarily focused on government management, while his wife Odette manages a powerful trading consortium. They had some trouble conceiving children, and both of their progeny are still in training.

Vale and Floria Brightbanner - Children Alison and Bella - Floria Brightbanner managed much of the familie's estate in Envan, and as a result is very militaristic. Her husband died in battle against the pirates there, something which has caused the woman to declare a practical crusade against the villains in the region. Her two daughters are more ignored than most Brightbanner children, and the latter is even said to be gallivanting about as some sort of adventurer...

Holdings: The Noel house has worked hard to create consolidated holdings of some of the wealthiest regions of Erenor. They utilize their extensive networks of trade, industry, and political alliances with lesser noble families to organize their domains in a more top down manner, taking great interst in even the day to day management of their territories. They are generally considered competent rulers, if a bit cold and distant compared to more excitable aristocrats like Delacroix or Crownguard aligned families. They have large holdings in Tercienne and Plascensium, along with less profitable ones in Envan and Mantenol, although they use them to create more posts for their generals and soldiers. The holdings of the Noel family are not the vastest, but they are by far the most prosperous.

Estate: The ancestral Noel estate is a large, beautiful villa located in the capitol of Plascenium. As a common destination for foreign diplomats and vital traders, it is constructed to show the world the glory of the Erenoran kingdom. A set of beautiful gardens dominate the exterior of the grounds, with plants from all around the kingdom and even a few hedge mazes to represent Erenor's impregnable defenses and fountains to portray it's sophistication and elegance. The manor house itself is constructed of beautiful white stone and marble with grand columns reflecting ancient Terman architecture. Within the complex there are grand halls where visitors are met featuring gorgeous murals and mosaics portraying Erenoran history, along with an exceptionally large number of rooms for guests. The inner portions of the estate however, are dominated by small lecture halls and libraries that prove the Noelian devotion to education and raising strong leaders. All members of the Noel family (and particularly well regarded vassal families) are expected to spend time at the estate itself, something which has granted the Brightbanners stronger personal bonds than one would expect from the family.

Notable Industries:

Taxes - House Noel has long been smart enough to ensure that some of the most prosperous territories in Erenor are under their control. This has granted them incredible wealth through taxes alone. Noelian nobles are known to change tax rates frequently out of concern for the markets and general welfare of the citizenry, something which often pleases locals but frustrates traveling merchants.

Business Interests - Many members of the Noel family, especially of late, have found work not in armies or as public servants but in the markets. The people skills to manage the nobility and affairs of state, the incredible amount of learning Noelian children undergo, and the sheer wealth under their control grant them a huge advantage over more mundane businessmen. There are many large trading consortiums and the like that have the Brightbanner emblem stamped upon them. Most of these ventures are successful enough, and each Noelian is expected to send money back to the House that birthed them. They tend more towards trade than small business endeavors like smithies.

Allies and Vassals:
The Crownguard family has countless vassal families and ones aligned with them, as do all of the High Houses. A full list would be impossible to prepare, but houses aligned with the Crownguards often feature several features. First, they must prepare knights that serve either House Colombain itself or the nation directly. Noble families who sit fat on the proceeds from their lands are not tolerated for long. Second, they tend to be honest and forthright in their dealings, since the Colombain family does not favor skullduggery. Third, they must have the ability to provide husbands or wives to the Colombain family, and not necessarily in return. That being said, they tend to respect and treat their vassal and allied families quite well, and give them a lot of latitude which means many families wish to align themselves with House Crownguard.

Relations:

House Colombain - The House of the Lance and the House of the Scepter have long been considered enemies. House Noel is downright disgusted with the Crownguard's trademark lack of tact and militaristic nature, and generally considers them idiots only good for throwing at enemies of the kingdom. The Brightbanners tend to oppose any consolidation of power or gains by the House of Lance, and even undermine them within the court. They take joy in how many Colombain knights serve in armies led by Noelians...

House Delacroix - House Noel has historically had excellent relations with the House of Rose, the two forming a power block that dominated domestic policy and culture in the kingdom since time immemorial. Numerous ties of marriage bond the two houses together, Noelians seeing Delacroix maidens in particular as fine wives. However, it was House Noel that brought much of Delacroix's recent scandals to light, harming their relationship and creating significant tensions between the two noble houses.

House Germain - The Brightbanners have long thought of House Germain as relatively unremarkable for a noble house, although they do grind their teeth in frustration every time the House of Wall recruits a fine tutor the Noelians wished to hire as a personal tutor. They find their understanding of practical knowledge useful, but have overall neutral relations, willing to pay them for tasks but otherwise simply not thinking of them.

The Crown - House Noel has long had a complicated relationship with the Crown. The duty of the Brightbanners is always to lead, never to follow, something that poses difficulty when they are vassals to the Aelus Dynasty. They have long attempted to marry their way into the Royal Family or otherwise gain power, and the Crown has long been nervous of them. With their recent exposure of Delacroix scandals however, House Noel has curried considerable favor with young Cecilia and the royalty. In the Royal Court, the position of Royal Chamberlain is always afforded to a Noelian, who run official functions with the tact and competence expected of them.

(May expand the overview a bit later...but this is enough for now hopefully ha ha.)

Here's the Info You asked me to Provide! Apologies if any of these are brief. I'm better at writing longer things in game than out. Didn't seem to be a problem this time admittedly...

Physical Description:
Amelia is a tall and powerfully built young woman with short cut blonde hair and a rather boyish appearance. She has tanned skin hardened from a life of training and hard work, pockmarked with various scars and callouses. She tends to wear one of several outfits. When riding or working on the ranch she wears a long sleeved tunic along with a pair of trousers and leggings to protect her legs and a cloak to keep her warm and dry. When training or participating in battle, she wears an additional coat decorated like chainmail over it along with a helmet and spear. During more formal or more peaceable occasions, she wears a long dress with a smaller, shorter underdress underneath it. There are several colorful pieces of clothing or jewelry on her person regardless of outfit, most commonly her belt.

Demeanor and Mannerisms:
Amelia is exceedingly polite and formal most of the time, as befitting a daughter of a thane. She ensures that she has outward shows of great passion and desire to serve the clan. However, inwardly, she is actually much shyer and more insecure, believing both that she is undeserving of her position and she may not have ended up on the right path. She represses these feelings as much as possible, desiring to be a true member of the Coburn family. She shows her softer side around horses, especially her trusty steed Dusty, and enjoys riding almost more than anything else. Growing up in such a male-focused family has given her something of a complex about her femininity as well, she is bashful around other women and worries that she is ugly. She is also religious, albeit with a somewhat fatalistic bent.

Renowned
Horseback Riding

Family and relationships:

Coburn Family
The Coburn family has always been the leaders and defenders of the Raven Clan. It was said that even in the time of the great mutiny they fought to defend and free their brothers and sisters, and to this day they have served loyally and dutifully as Thanes and Carls. Each member of the family is expected to train as warriors and serve to defend the people of the clan. Their ownership of the breeding grounds for the horse and cattle herds has kept them wealthy and powerful, while their skill at arms is well renowned and respected. They like to have as many children as possible to grow the family and replenish their numbers.

Eadmund Coburn - Father: The Thane of the Raven Clan, a skilled and gregarious warrior with a big busy beard. He cares about all of his children in his own way, but also can be a little forceful in how he pushes them down to what he thinks is best for the family and clan. He leads the Raven Clan with a tighter hand than most Thanes.

Sofia Coburn - Mother: The Matriarch of the Coburn family and an able fighter, Sofia is a powerful and strong willed woman. She is actually doting in her own way, but is also incredibly strict with her children. She understands how important it is that they be brought into shape, and she can be a harsh disciplinarian.

Godric Coburn - Eldest Son: Godric is a dutiful son, with special skill at managing diplomacy and other factions. He used to be a renowned swordsman, but was injured fighting off enemy skirmishers, forcing him to walk with a cane. He is expected to inherit the title of Thane, something which he is more than prepared for. He is a little colder towards Amelia, but respects her regardless. He was wed, but in a fashion that was against tradition.

Cuthberht Coburn - Second Son, Twin of Sigeweard:  Cuthberht was actually thrilled to realize that he was not really in the line of succession, since it grants him more opportunities to go on gallivanting adventures around the moors. He volunteers most often to lead the trading caravans, and is excellent with an axe in battle.

Sigeweard Coburn - Third Son, Twin of Cuthberht: Sigeward is a canny archer, and far more pragmatic than his twin brother. He holds more jealousy towards Godric, but still does his duty for the most part. He is also a talented hunter, and gets pelts for the clan when off the field of battle. He travels with Cuthberht often, partially to keep his brother out of trouble.

Hilda Coburn - First Daughter: Hilda was born a daughter of the Coburn, and is the most pious of the Coburn family. Although she is skilled in the art of battle, she finds more care in serving the gods. She is close to the lorekeeper, and some think she will inherit the wizened woman's position. Hilda is something of a role model to Amelia for obvious reasons, and the one she was closest with.

*Amelia Coburn - Second Daughter: The main character of this tale.

Leofric Coburn - Fourth Son: The youngest son of the Coburn family, still growing into his next role.

Others:
There are others in Amelia's life outside of her family, even if the former dominated her social life.

Old Cyneburga: The Lorekeeper of the tribe, a wizened and friendly old woman who is very serious about keeping the traditions of the clan alive. While she often offers council to the Thane, she is more open about her services in general, and speaks to whoever she wishes.

Lucille: One of Amelia's childhood friends, a cheerful, feminine girl who works at the clan's brewery. She is one of the few people that Amelia confides her secret shames and insecurities with.

Eadric: Another old friend of Amelia's, the son of a rich Carl Family. Their friendship drifted off over time though, more than partially since Eadric is something of an arrogant jerk. Their families are close though, so she still runs into him from time to time.
