Re: Aurora 1-1

Bartja nods in agreement.  "It is only logical for the Matrix to protect us this way.  We are the greatest threat to our own survival that exists, but that's freedom and I won't lose it without a fight.

What are the chances that the escape pod computers are also infected with the Matrix virus?  Even if we escape this vessel and scuttle it in the process - which I believe we should to destroy the virus - how can we be sure we're not taking it with us?"
It was probably a rhetorical question but he voiced it nonetheless.

Bartja arose and began searching the room for tools and weapons.  The tools were more important to him than weapons, especially given the technological threat that they now faced.  He hadn't faced the modified machinery on Snobol, but he'd heard enough about it to know that they would have to access any robot they encountered and shut them down - or be faced with destroying everything in the process.

General Ashe says, "The shuttles will be quarantined when we get to Aurora.  There are suits on the shuttles.  And the computer systems of the shuttles are completely separate as a precaution against a pirate or other takeover of the ship.  In any case, they are our only hope now."

As desi gets her bearing she stands and moves towards Shinsa and the General, "Since it's a mess, I'd feel a whole lot better if I had a weapon in hand if we got robots coming to zap us!"

S'Krllk holds his robotic left in front of his face, his expression bland and stoic. At Desi's statement, he deadpans, "Would you mind avoiding that phrase for the immediate future."
Then he starts the immediate vicinity for any available tools or weapons.

"Already! I mean come on we were just starting to relax!" The doctor also does a quick survey of the room for anything useful, he also takes note of the various displays above each of their tables. "Successful...why am I worried..."

General Ashe unholsters his pistol and tosses it to Desiraye.  "What we have to do is make a break for it.  If we go fast enough, we shouldn't have any problem.  Are you all up for it?"

OOC: The pistol is a laser pistol with one full clip.

Desi takes the pistol from the general and double checks it then sets the SEU output to 4 SEU per shot and then looks to the General, "We're ready to go sir!"

"You're obviously unfamiliar with my history, making a break for it is a reflex action, being ready for it is redundant."
S'Krllk starts to move around, getting his balance and wondering if he shouldn't attempt to turn off any device he can reach.

Re: Aurora 1-1

As you head out, you hear speakers overhead:

"Security Breach on Level 3:  Please detain."

"That's us," the general says as he leads you down corridors.

More gently, the overhead voice returns:

"Please return to your rooms for your own safety.  Escorts will be arriving soon to assist you."

The general is looking down at a device with a screen.  "This should show me what we'll be facing.  It's used in the military."  You see blips on the screen.

You reach a T section and he says, "Hmm, looks like robots to the left, can't tell how many, or security protocols...mounted guns, lasers and such, on the right.  You got a preference?"

He shakes his head.  "I can't really say.  Since they are trying to 'protect' human life, they might try to maim us but won't worry about an accidental kill.  But regardless, if they get us back into those machines, we probably won't be coming out anytime soon."  He nods toward Shinsa and Bartja. "And they probably don't register as human, so I'm not sure."

Shinsa says, "Maybe by creating cyborgs, they can then justify killing 'non-humans.'"  She seems equally puzzled.

"When you say 'mounted guns' to the right, are those there to stop us or is that the ships mounted guns?" Bartja wasn't too keen on facing robots to the left without a toolkit and a way to deactivate them...

S'Krllk points out, "Since the robots are certain to be keyed to the security systems, they would follow us right through whatever mounted defenses we pass. Those defenses would slow us down, and not them. Therefore we face the robots no matter which way we go, so we might as well get it over with."

Re: Aurora 1-1

The general can't tell how many robots there are.

You move toward the robots, the alarm still blaring around you.

You get down the corridor to a door that opens onto a larger room.

In this room, robots are working on the left side of the room.  They are laboratory robots of some kind.  They do not appear to notice you yet but are intent on doing their work.

On the right side are various machines with arms doing what appears like factory work.  The room is split in two by what appears to be enormous vats.

On the left side, just out of view because of the vats, you hear a voice calling out, "Help me."

Re: Aurora 1-1

Quietly so as not to alarm the robots, Bartja ventures to make a suggestion.

"Let me go in and see if I can deactivate the robots while you see who needs help.  They apparently won't recognize me as living so let's use that to our advantage.  If they see me only as another robot, I won't be a part of the alarm that is raised and they will not be looking to capture or detain me."

Desiraye nods in acknowledgement to Bartja's suggestion and looks to the others, "S'Krllk & Shinsa, can you come with me to find out who needs saving?  General, what's going on in this room and can you stay here while Bartja works his magic?

How the hell did the Matrix get out?  I thought it was safe on this ship?"

Re: Aurora 1-1

Bartja goes to investigate.  The person crying out for help is not a person at all, but a robot with a robotic voice.  It is a mechanon, as you recall from your days spent on Volturnus.

The robot is being held down by a security robot.  The robots on the lab lines do not seem to take notice of Bartja.

The General responds to Desi, "This is a laboratory production room.  And how did the Matrix get out?  How should I know?"

Shinsa steps in and says, "I'd guess a curious scientist just couldn't keep his hands off this technology, and next thing you know, here we are."

"Before you ask how the matrix got out, you have to make an assumption. That's not always a good thing to do. We don't know that this matrix is the same one we dealt with previously."
S'Krllk keeps looking toward the voice pleading for help.
