So I had envisioned the character having a dog, and took animal training professional skill, but I'm not quite sure how to go about acquiring a dog to have trained.  Nor do I think the starting funds would really allow for much in the way of purchasing animals.

A regular dog might be cheap though, as opposed to a war dog, and maybe assumed to already have?  I would probably just teach him non-combat things like track and fetch.

I crit vs. his parry, I should get to choose my special effect.  If you're opting to rule that circumvent parry can't get around the ward location, because you're interpreting that as cover instead of parrying, then I should at least get to choose location somewhere else rather than have my critical hit do nothing.

Okay, so getting back into this. you were looking at the Cost of Living and Stipend tables from Luther Arkwright correct?

I need to decide some training.  What skills would you say would constitute my "profession"? The Stipend says it's based on two highest professional skills added together, so for me that would be Survival (34) and Tracking (41) for a total of 75 = 2d6x15 (105 avg).  Though it may make more sense to do two skills that correlate better together, like Tracking (41) and Craft - Deadfalls (31).  In any case, I'll be in the 71-90 bracket.

I would want to devote training towards improving one of those, and also Influence, as I've experienced that perhaps being better at interacting with people has some value to it.

So I will look for trainers/teachers that are available to help improve:
  • Influence
  • Tracking
  • Survival
  • Craft - Deadfalls

To see who's available and what's affordable.

As far as Cost of Living, I'll go with a Low Class standard, as my variable income only just averages Average, and short months could leave me in a bad situation.

I was using them as a ballpark for stipends, but not using them directly.  I was using the Cost of living chart in Mythras p55. I figured since none of your prof skills are in the competent range (51+), you'd just be eeking by at making the minimum 15sp per week income.  No wonder the professional murder-hobos go hunting greenskins!



So for training, you'd need to allocate 15s per week to cover income you're not making.
Then it takes 1 week, at 1 sp per 5% skill for a trainer.
I figured 60 skill trainers would be fairly easy to come by.  For one of those, that'd then be a net cost of 27s for the week. Although 60 skill isn't high enough to train your Tracking.

Ok so Freeman cost of living is 15 sp/wk, and I'm earning 15 sp/wk, so breaking even.  I have 143 sp so can coast for a little while. While I'm being trained, am I still able to work?  Or do I have to cover the lost work cost while also paying the training cost?  Nevermind, you covered that.

So let's train Influence this week, as Dawri needs to learn to talk better.

No I didn't generate any of that.  I think the only other characters that we've established are:
  • The little Halfling
  • The wealthy stranger
