The smartest thing for the Fartknockers/Chaulkers to do is hide out, spy, and wait for the rest of us.  Perhaps radios would prove useful.

@polk: what they said. i noticed your comment earlier about not knowing we were still with you, and meant to post a clarification in game for you. however, life happened and that post never materialized. actually, i also asked how long it might take you to regain your polymorph ability so we knew how long we had to wait/work with.

@jason: lol. yes, i've made the recommendation for reconnaissance. however, since we have no way of knowing when, or if, you will rejoin us... we can't wait forever. i thought about radios. unfortunately, i thought about them after we parted ways. i have one, but we didn't designate a frequency for comms.

i really need to read the game threads before posting ooc. wow. that is so not the mental picture i had for our current situation. very glad you clarified. hmmm... have a bunch of homework right now and a final. will consider the situation and try to post in the next couple days.

Polk is good at sneaky.
He will join you all.
He can sense dragons which should help.

I would expect that, as a travelling group, we would have established a primary frequency and a couple of back-ups already.

S.O.P. would be for an open channel to contact which would in theory if we had brains lead to a verify on an encrypted channel with sign countering verify. Of course that is what I would do if I survived something like RIFTS and had the C.S. to deal with.

That is a standard military procedure.  But, only one of us is playing a former soldier.

meh. actually, i'm playing an ex-soldier and would probably follow those procedures as well. i'm just too sleep deprived, and defaulted back to "didn't say it, didn't do it."

as for our group name, i suppose it makes sense to have a code name for radio use. not to mention GM use. :) can't say that i care what it is. i've heard some doozies in my time. caulkers sounds fine to me... also sounds like a bunch of plumbers, but that's neither here nor there.

for further clarification, GM, you told us that we're now deep within enemy territory. were we deep within enemy territory before when we were taken prisoner by the vamps? or is this due to our recent trek while following the trail of stinky?

The ship-out-of-water was more like a wilderness outpost. It's not in anybody's territory really, except that the vampire's consider everywhere to be their turf. While following the trail of stinky, the Caulkers passed through a hazy border into what is undisputedly a part of a vampire kingdom. Plantations like this are the farthest out settlements from the capital, but they are politically very loyal to the chain of command. Based on the condition of the wagon tracks, it looks like these trails are frequently used by residents heading in several directions, so that's a vague clue that they are inside a kingdom boundary.
