Re: Campfire 2

In my thread is the light entering the tomb sunlight?

I don’t have Lore Vamps but it might be useful info for other PCs who have the skill.

Re: Campfire 2

Strangely, Lore:  Vampire is not a skill found in the original OCC Skills of the Atlantean Undead Slayer.  But, that skill did not come out until Nightspawn/bane.
Oh, what hapoened to the vampire Jason shot in the back as he was running?

In reply to Jason Damien (msg # 18):

Lore:Vampire is covered under Demon and Monster Lore. In Rifts anyway. Until the introduction of the Updated Vampire Kingdoms it wasn't to be found in any actual RIFTS books that I know of.

Jason's Phoenix Tattoo can bring back the recently deceased, as well as heal a great amount of damage.

Yep.  But imagine the PR factor.
I wonder how that would work against a vampire.....

I would imagine very poorly. Most vamps have sold their souls so to speak.

If Lucas or Na Wa want armor of Ithan too, I need to know but I think Polk would definitely protect Nyx.

Both contributions to the plan, the Armour and then Globe of Daylight, are nicely done :)

I remember that in DnD, healing magic harms the undead.  Too bad it doesn't work that way in Rifts.

Re: Campfire 2

nice catch there, polk.

can't remember in rifts... is there an issue with Armor of Ithan being used on you if you are already wearing armor? i'm currently wearing body armor. if there's not an issue, then i'm ok with accepting such a spell if it's offered. i've worked with spell casting types in the past, and have no prejudices against the good ones.

Polk just gained his magic so it is kind of a new toy for him. It can be used even if you have armor.

Shameless Plug

I am participating again in another Writers' Camp hosted by Tapas.io. The July Writers Camp (yeah, I know it's now August) ends this week. My current project is a story set in Jason Richard's Breachworld RPG. It's from me, so you know there's a wacky angle. It's about a robot assassin who joins a religious cult. Like I wrote earlier, the project ends this week, and the subscriber stat does count. https://www.tapas.io/series/soulless-saint

Do we have an opportunity to react or is it straight to initiative?

Yeah, you can probably squeeze in an action before the lid slides open if it's quick.

A 20 is supposed to hit the heart when fighting vampires.

Per the RAW it's double damage. A lot of GM's I know (myself included) allow Nat 20's to insta kill bad guys.

Polkitain:

Didn't know that, but it is perfectly in line with a GM allowing nat 20's to insta kill.

Re: Shameless Plug

Normal text is rules. (Parentheses text is house rule.)

Called shots require 14+ total on the to-strike roll.

Critical hits result from natural 20, but hand-to-hand combat skills can boost this chance at a crit. Meeting two or more conditions for a critical hit will result in x3 damage. A crit doubles damage (or inflicts max dice damage, whichever is better).

Staking a vampire is a special case called shot which requires a total to-hit roll of twenty. (I have waved this rule when PCs want to stake imobilzed vampires or just want to use a normal called shot to speed things along.)

Re: Shameless Plug

what do you mean "two or more conditions for a crit"?

anyway, unfortunately no staking possible. i have a wooden club in hand, not a stake or knife. that being said, if that vampire opens the coffin and sits up, he's going to have a very bad headache.
