Only got held up once at gunpoint while working/living in Africa. All the other ‘holds ups’ in Africa were attempted at knife point. Most of the the me we produced our own weapons and the woukd be theifs ran off. One time the other Marine I was with told the thief’s that “we were US Marines and that we would take the knives away from them and kill them with them” in Kiswahili.  They put the knives down and ran off.

Back in the early 90s, I was walking through my old neighborhood around midnight.  I had been going to my mom's the last week to take care of the dog, check the mail, etc, while she was out of town.  I knew she had expected to come home sometime in the evening ot that morning, so I went to make sure she got in all right.
As I'm walking towards my mom's street, someone calls me by name.  Someone I don't recognize, probably one of the many criminal assholes who bullied me through high school; there were so many that faces and names generally bled in together.  Anyway, there are nine if these thug-looking assholes gathered around the front stoop of an apartment building.  I don't really like the looks of the situation, but I respond.  I'm not friendly, but I'm not rude either.  However, I quickly get tired of the conversation, so I turn and start to walk away.  A threat is made, and I draw my handgun from under my jacket and hold it next to my thigh.  When the leader of this group asks if that's a gun in my hand, I stop and turn slowly towards him.  All nine if them are standing and had taken a collective couple if steps towards me, which is why I drew the weapon.
"Yes, I have a gun.  I also have military training and eniugh ammunition to shoot each of you three times.  Who's first?"
When, after a couple of minutes, nobody answered, I once again turned my back on them and just walked away like they were not even remotely considered a threat.  Mom had made it in alright, and I walked a slightly different route back to my apartment.  Hey, I'm crazy, not stupid.  They may have been lying in wait, and we didn't have open carry or conceled cardy at the time.

Never had a serious situation like that, for which I am thankful for and glad you all came out healthy. I have gotten to use my jiu jitsu to diffuse several altercations at a local 'sports bar'... rednecks.

By staying calm, collected, and confident in what I can do (even if I know I have little chance of success), I have discovered that I rarely actually have to use force to defend myself.

I killed a man who tried to rape me. This was more than 22 years ago. I always have a 9mm in my car, and a .40 cal in my purse unless I'm in court.

22 years ago?  Almost surprised you didn't do time.  Lethal force is authorized against attempted rape now, but back then, it wasn't so cut-and-dried.

Cops refused to charge me. I'm from the deep south so I was a bit of a local hero for about 30 seconds.

It's a long story but he had raped and killed four other women at least.

Good on you.  I'm sorry you had to go through all that.  Glad that you made it through it.  Both the rape attempt, and killing another human being change you in fundamental ways.

I haven't forgotten about you kind and patient folks. I have just had limited access to my wifi. These aren't the sort of posts I make with my thumbs.

As a GM myself I understand full well that posting from a mobile device is not fun.

  My phone is the only medium I am allowed to access of my internet capable devices in the house that I pay for. Mostly because good luck taking it from me.

For those of you who may be interested, I am looking for a few more players in one of my Robotech games.

I am only looking for players who can post frequently (3-4 times a week or more), which seems to be the case with most of the players here. Mind you I do know Real Life can play a factor in this, which is understandable.

Ethan is still waiting on the results of him trying to heal Jason.

Jason is probably too hopped up on adrenaline while wrestling the vampire to feel injury or to take the time to pay attention to the healing.

With much chagrin (but no grin), I see that it has been nearly a month since I posted here. I could drone on about real life stomping my plans, but I am results oriented. The result is that I have allowed both of my games to languish for an unacceptable length of time. I am placing SenZar and Rifts both on hiatus effective immediately. I suppose they already were on hiatus, but now I'm declaring it.

Please give me a roll call to see who is still here in case circumstances change soon.
