Re: Discussion Zone

Correct - Donkeys do NOT consume correct.
Yes - Unit Mounts (Horses) - DO consume food (1x Food per "Unit worth")
Yes - you can "fluff" (describe) your mounts however - as riding lizards, or what-not.  AND, yes - there are "special" mounts as well.

Ranged Bonuses do not give bonuses to Melee Combat. (unless you have a special ability which says otherwise.)

Spyglass is still a Tool (see: 4.B9 Scout) (also see: 7.G "Marketplace")
It's a +4 to scout (I need to write that in directly here soon.)

Yes - it is VERY intentional that you can't find some/most of the new tools.  They are NOT available in the Cities (remember: "ON map CPs") but, most will be available in the Settlements (remember: Off Map CPs).

Saws = Construction Tools. (See: 4.B2 Build)

Re: Discussion Zone

I actually had a question about reading the tables on the stuff you can buy. It seems to be saying that the more reviled stuff costs more and you get less. Is this what I'm actually reading, or is this the relationship to the town?

Also, do we start with any standard supplies other than the gold?

Re: Discussion Zone

I'll answer backward.

You begin with just the gold - so, yes - you will need to buy Food and the like, unless you intend to be scouting Plains or buying from Cities early-on.

Regarding Attitude & Costs.

Attitude only changes the COST, not the QUANTITY. (at least not directly).
It appears to change the quantity for resources - because of decimal places.  Since the game doesn't allow decimal place gold values - because it's just too much tracking: it's easier to enforce a certain "amount" of minimum trade.

Thus:
If you enter a new Settlement, and are Reviled with it, but, you want to buy Stone: you would pay 1 gold for 1 Stone.
However, at Standard rates; you would pay 2 gold for 3 stone (thus, it really is only changing the cost.)

Regarding other items - I will find a way to get them all "charted-up".  One of the advantages of the wiki was being able to 'slice it up' a little more neatly, at the cost of having to click all over RPOL to find the information.

But, it will get up there.

Re: Discussion Zone

In reply to Jakob Algrove (msg # 12):

It's more that the better your relationship with the town is in terms of Trade, the more favorable the pricing is for you.  So, if your trade status with a town is at Reviled, you get shitty trade prices.  But, the more you trade with a town, the better trade status you have "negotiated," so you get more favorable trade conditions.

You start with the gold, but you go to the Marketplace section to spend what you want of the starting gold on materials available in that chart.  You don't have to spend it all and can save some (in fact, I'd recommend you do so in order to pay for upkeep and a new unit, if you want one when the first month actually starts.  Can't get one right away before the game starts, but you can hunt one down during the game itself).

Re: Discussion Zone

Hey folks, I know we're getting things setup and rolling.  Please let me know what questions you have, especially any aspect of the rules that remain unclear.

I know there are quite a bit of aspects to cover and grasp.  The main focus for this weekend: Getting your initial setup done: link to a message in this game

If you don't have your Stat thread (STT) and OOC threads setup - Please let me know as soon as possible.  If you need help copy/pasting in anything - (such as Room or Unit stat blocks) - let me know.  They *will* be posted in the Game wiki here soon (everyone can use the 'edit' function on the wiki to pull down the room stats.)  The wiki will have these "quick blocks" ready in about five minutes from this post.

Re: Discussion Zone

Mostly want to see an understanding of if I can buy weapons and armor premade, or if I need to get the materials and make them, etc etc. But, I'm also on my phone right now, which makes reading longer pages difficult for me.
As such, it's entirely possible I have simply missed the information.

Re: Discussion Zone

The Diamond represents that the item goes into a Tools Slot, the Club- a Weapon slot, and the heart goes into an Armor slot.

Re: Discussion Zone

Question: Is this meant to be 'Saws'?

8.D Renovations

What do you need to Renovate existing Rooms?
At least:

    1 x Unit,
    1 x Saws (must be equipped onto at least one of the participating Units),
    Stone.

The amount of Stone needed is:

    Stone = 5 x R + 5
    Where R = Current Renovation Level of the Room.
    + (If an Intermediate or Pillar Renovation) the individual Renovation cost.

Example: You have a Watchtower, which is Renovation level 3.  Attempting to construct the next Renovation (the 4th) would require 20 Stone.

It is possible to perform more than one Renovation on a single room in a single week.  For each additional Renovation, assume the next cost-increase as the required Stone. (Thus, if constructing two renovations - the 3rd and 4th level -> You would need 15 AND 20 Stone - for a total of 35 Stone.)

Each time any new Renovation (be it Basic, Intermediate, or Pillar) is completed, the total Renovation level is increased by 1.

Yes. 4.B5 Harvest also uses the old terminology. Should be using the new words as well.

Re: Discussion Zone

Thanks for the catch!  Yes, trying to get rid of all of the old terminology.

Short answer for everyone:
If you see:
"Earth Tools" -> Shovels
"Construction Tools" -> Saws
"Crafters' Tools" -> Hammers

Also - I'll be getting the rest of the action's rules updated today.

Re: Discussion Zone

Hey folks - checking in to make sure everyone is getting familiar and comfortable with the rules, RuBB Code (the tables), and everything else.  Please let me know what questions you have.  the In Game Threads will be going up soon - and once everyone has completed their initial setup (choosing leaders, Unit, initial purchases, and lair position) - I'll do an update to the "World Events and Game Map" thread to identify what the first month's event(s) are.

If you have already decided upon your initial purchases - make sure to itemize them in your STT (Stat-Tracker Thread)

In reply to Narrator (msg # 30):

I am not familiar with RuBB code directly, but after two Rounds I'm probably good enough with what you use <.<
I'll admit I do usually have to track down somewhere you've done it already and copy-paste, though (doesn't help that you've changed the standards a bit over time, so older unit-stats might not be formatted quite like the new ones)

No worries =)

Yes, if you've gotten semi-used to what we've been doing the last few rounds - you're probably pretty used to it altogether.

Hopefully these will make this a little easier this round.  You can use the "edit" feature to just copy/paste most stat blocks as needed.

Folks - please make sure your initial choices and purchases are done by the end of today.  The events and turn-post indicator will go up tomorrow morning - and if a player is not ready by then - they will have to sit-out the first game week.
