Re: Discussion Zone

My medical exams are finally over!  *collapses on his desk*

I managed to stay constant during the time period, but I'm looking forward to my afternoon off.

Yes.  Afternoon.  Because that's all they give me.  -_-

Re: Discussion Zone

Hey folks - I'm back from my business convention nonsense.  Long drives.  Too much running around just to watch people high-five each other for no reason.  But, life is good.

I will be updating turn posts shortly.  Remember folks - it's upkeep time - so, total the upkeep (1 food per Unit and then total gold upkeep values) and annotate the costs in your in-game posts.

Re: Discussion Zone

If it's not one thing it's another.

I'm sorry for the multitude of excuses, but, the hits keep on coming.  My wife's father just died today.  I may be a little out of pocket (for relatively obvious reasons). I hope, by this Sunday to have the rules posted for the Council and begin those deliberations.

Take your time, big guy.  That's obviously far more important than this is.

Agreed: That's a lot more important than a game.
If putting the game on hold for now helps, that's fine.

What everyone else is saying. Make sure you've got that well in hand before even worrying about us. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that you and your family have our condolences.

Re: Discussion Zone

Hey folks - thank you for the well-wishes.

I am back and hopefully in action.

The rules for the Council of Usurpers are posted:
http://wiki.rpol.net/?id=66962/Council

I will be tallying the VPs shortly, and posting the Arbiter's initial summons to the council.  PLEASE, take this as an RPing opportunity and a chance to actually "play" with the other Usurpers.  I know this is generally a "solo" game-feel, by its nature.  But, I do hope everyone can take some time to enjoy the skullduggery, dealing, and machinations aspect to the game.

For those who have not played previous rounds: the Council of Usurpers is a lot like the United Nations council in the Civilization Series of Games (or the Planetary Council in Alpha Centauri).  In the first round of discussion, Each player gets to put in their opinion on which topics should be discussed.  Then, in the second, everyone votes on those topics.

It's an opportunity to (semi)-permanently alter the rules of the game in your favor.

Re: Discussion Zone

It's also a system that some of us don't like.  /curmudgeoncurmudgeon. xP

Welcome back, my friend.  Good to see you're doing ok.  I've got another medical exam tomorrow, but I should have some breathing room until late November after that.  Just let me know what our schedule is going to be like during the Council stage.  I don't want it to drag on too much, and I'll only have a couple green-lit days of activity during each week.  So, I'm not sure how it will work for me to really RP much in that stage.

Re: Discussion Zone

You're just grumpy! =)

And thank you.  I am doing alright.  Wife is out with her side of the family.  I may end-up being sent to Korea soon for a business trip, so yeah.. passport updates.. blahblah.  I truly hope it does not happen.  As that will be a major interruption to - everything.

That being said - VP totals are posted.

Will be posting the first message in the council thread shortly - after that everyone is allowed to begin chatting and voting.

Please be sure to read the Council rules: http://wiki.rpol.net/?id=66962/Council
(Articles are in there, too.)

Vote allowances will be posted in with the first Council message.

Re: Discussion Zone

Lol well, if you feel like sharing your secrets.... ;)
Mostly I'm just trying to figure out how to do a lot of things.

Randomly, I have been delaying posting my weeks action this week. Do I need to go ahead and post, or should I not post with the understanding of the Usurper Council meeting?

Re: Discussion Zone

Horribly.  That's one way of putting it.  Most of us repeat players know the legends of my horrible luck with the dice roller.  Somehow, it's managed to get worse this game.  I'm honestly surprised I made it as high as third place right now.

Re: Discussion Zone

In reply to Jakob Algrove (msg # 74):

Jakob - no need to post a turn.  This week is devoted to stage 1 of the Council.  If conversations progress enough in that time, we might do stage 2 as well, but, I doubt it.

You'll get the new turn post indicator when it's time to do month 3 (and you'll see the monthly events for month 3 as well.)

If anyone does not understand the bonus gained from being 1st in a category - let me know.

This is no joke.  LTC Rajesh's luck (in all previous games) has been utterly horrendous.  Some dizzyingly good rolls, but, his dice-roller is like Babe Ruth - 20 rolls- all "1 or 2", then finally a roll of 95.  It's awful.

Thankfully, his horrid luck hasn't been nearly as bad, yet.  Also, He plays a certain way - a manner of which he is rather proud =).

And, so everyone knows - there's no great disparity between places.  31 points is a very small amount of disparity between first and fifth.

I will get the hang of it. I'm not really upset or anything. After all, I figure getting the hang of things is going to get things on a slower foot. :)

Re: Discussion Zone

And, another thing to consider - even the "older" players are probably suffering from a bit of whip-lash, as some of the scouting and exploring concepts have changed so dramatically from the previous round: not everyone is feeling "sure" of what is going to happen.
