Aboard the Verdant
Aayla sat in the center back of the amphitheater, where she could see everyone else in the room. She was dressed in a a pair of purple leggings that almost matched her skin tone and a short tan dress that reached mid-thigh. A beat up leather jacket hung open over the top, data-cylinders protruding from the chest pocket. She took note of the other occupants of the room, Sullustan, Verpine, another Twi'lek. She also made note of the droid, droids were excellent places to his explosives, and also wondered exactly how old that thing was. For now Aayla sat and filed her nails and waited to see what Command had up their sleeve this time.

Dashing in just before the appointed start time Kaqui throws her bag on a seat and climbs up, no small feat for a diminuative being such as she, onto the adjoining seat. She pulls her bag to her lap and removes the highly advanced slicing tools given to her by Republic command. She fiddles with it, to the total exclusion of those around her.

Flanked on each side by an armed escort, A young human woman in a crisp New Republic Army uniform enters the room. The rank insignia blazoned on the right breast of her uniform indicate that she is a Captain, despite appearing to be only in her mid to late twenties.

"Evening troops. I am Captain Endezi Bodalla, and I'll be briefing you on the mission you have been gathered for. I am going to be frank; I Don't really have time to introduce you to each-other, so we;ll have to jump right into the briefing proper."

the holoprojector buzzed to life with a low hum, displaying a green-tinged image of a planet

"Eriadu is the capital of the Imperial breakaway faction known as the Eriadu Authority. While rather small compared to the holding of other warlords like Zsinj, The Authority could prove to be rather dangerous if given time to grow, and an opportunity has presented itself that we would like to exploit.

Eriadu is a planet with a very large slave population. We would like you to incite and coordinate a slave rebellion, with the goal of freeing Eriadu, or at the very least causing great damage to the Imperial infrastructure.

You may approuch this mission in any way you'd like, but please be aware that the reason we are asking you to do this is for plausible deniability; we would like to see how you function before bringing you on the payroll proper.

are there any questions?"

The sullustan quickly puts away his datapad and promptly stands to his feet.

"Umm, hey there Cap?"

He seems to forget his question for a moment.  A look of embarrassment seems to shadow his face and he begins to sit back down.

"I'll uh well If I remember it I'll be sure to holler."

The sullustan seems to sink infinitely into his chair.

"Requesting supplemental mission parameters: Are there any specific high-priority targets to focus on for maximum impact?  Is the survival of the slave population a concern in this mission?"  It was difficult at first to tell who was speaking before anyone could trace the sound to the BB-unit at the Captain's side.  Which was stranger to consider - that the BB-unit spoke Basic instead of Binary, or that it was apparently part of the mission team?

"Additionally, if the mission becomes compromised, should I eliminate the strike team to prevent them from divulging information?" it continued, perhaps a little more glibly than one would expect for that sort of question.

Lynni gave the droid a vicious glare.

"Of course the survival of the population is of a concern! No one should need to live in captivity, much less under any Imperial rule." She stands up as well, though with a much more focused confidence than the Sullustan. This problem seemed rather personal for her. "Captain, do we have some means of transportation to Eriadu? If there's an Imperial presence, sailing in this frigate doesn't sound like a good idea."

Captain Bodalla briefly smirks before pulling up another image on the holoprojector, a gaunt, skinny man with grey combed over hair, in an Admiral's uniform

"This is Admiral Sander Delvardus, the self proclaimed ruler of the Eriadu Authority. While we don't believe he will currently be on Eriadu, it is possible that you may encounter him. If that is the case, we would like you to keep us informed, and only engage if we get the go ahead. Delvardus is a high-priority target, and dealing with him should be a delicate matter."

A different image appears, of a stern, tall human man in an imperial uniform. He is sporting a menacing smirk, and the rest half of his face marred with horrible scarring. His left arm appears to be entirely cybernetic, and awkwardly bulges out of his uniform.

"This monster, however, is almost certainly going to be on Eriadu. Task-Master Corvus Curge is in charge of managing and keeping the slaves of Eriadu City in line. If you can eliminate this man, I imagine the slaves will have a much greater inclination towards rebellion."

A third image arrived over the holoprojector. A blurry image of a dark-haired, fur-covered being in black clothing was displayed.

"This man...we don't know much about this man. He is a Shistavanen male, and he leaves death in his wake. We've sent no less than 3 Bothan spy teams after him, and none have returned. He was last spotted in the Slussi sector, which I don't need to remind you contains Eriadu. If you see this man, I would...heartily recommend against engaging him."

Oh, and by the way, droid; there will be...no need to dispose of your teammates."

The Captain turned to adress Lyn'Nilim with a genuine smile.

"We appreciate you enthusiasm, Miss. As for transport, We can supply Mr. Nugb with a transponder spoofer that will make his ship appear to be a mercenary vessel known as The Misericorde. Which, brings me to another point. Your cover, at least for the first part of this mission, will be...as slavers and slave-catchers. Displeasing, I know, but remind yourself that its for the greater good."

The heartfelt condemnation of slavery as spoken by a Twilek was almost poetic in and of itself, though the significance was perhaps tainted by the fact that she was talking to a built-to-serve Droid.  The BB-unit seemed wholly unperturbed though as it simply canted its head module aside in an idle gesture of consideration.

"Understood.  The slave population is not to be considered a valid form of collateral damage and should be preserved as a secondary mission parameter." it chirped.  Then, perhaps merely as an afterthought... "Same designation for the strike team, as well."

"Actually, you bucket of bolts, preserving the strike team is a primary mission parameter. Along with the fomenting of rebellion and killing Imperials. Compute that and make sure it saves." Aayla said when she spoke up. "The slaves also aren't 'collateral damage', they're sentients, like you and me, and they deserve to free to choose life or death."

Aayla sat forward in the chair, the Imperials that were being shown could be a way to cause massive damage, if she could get on the inside. "Do we have dossiers on the Imps? What theyblike, dislike, etc."

At the captains entrance Avax becomes distressed, his head bobbing up and down frantically as he raced to finish tallying up the chairs. He peers around the holo image of Curge to sight the last two rows. Finally the Verpine relaxes, his agitated fidgeting ceases and Bodalla has his undivided attention.

The shistavanen causes him to raise his carahide hackles. An antenna and a half flatten to his head and a few soft clicks come from his snout. He tilts his head slightly at an angle, as if to find other methods to assess this being.

At the comments of the others he merely sits and listens.

As Aayla speaks up, Lynni looks at the fellow Twi'lek. Perhaps she felt as she did, as in the dark times at the fall of the old republic many Twi'lek were enslaved for a long time. She was glad she was not the only one who felt so strongly about saving slaves.

"Understood, Captain. I do what I can to aid the Republic, but if it matters, I would wish it to be written down for the record that I am not overly comfortable with that particular role. But if that's what it takes to save those people, I will do my part." Imagine, freeing captives and leading them in an overwhelming rebellion against their Imperial overseers, like what it must have felt like in the early days of the Rebellion, those few brave men and women standing up against injustice.

She then looks to the rest of the group. "So who've you is Nugb?"

"Are we performing the Roll Call?" the scorned Droid didn't seem to care a lick about the talking down it had been given as it whirred up and rolled its way on over from the holoprojector closer to the rest of the assembled task force.  They hadn't been dismissed yet, but astromechs never heeded protocol much anyway.

"I am DD-01H, though I will also respond to designation 'Dee Dee'." the BB-unit must have had a flaw in its logic circuit if it couldn't even get it's own 'Bee Bee' model correct.  "My Master has temporarily rented my services to the New Republic for personal reasons and a frankly irresponsible volume of Credits.  I am to serve as the team's primary assault trooper, anti-personnel/anti-vehicle/anti-aircraft combatant, and heavy weapons specialist."

Yeah, there had to be several somethings broken inside that little astromech if it thought it was supposed to be the heavy-hitter of the team.  "I suppose I should also mention that I can serve as a mobile communications relay and universal translator."  That sounded more like it.

The insect stood up, looked intently at the two Twi-Leks, then the Sullustan, and finally the droid.
"My name is Avax. I kill people."
He paused in thought, as if rehearsing something in his head.
"But only targets identified by the Alliance high command designated as perpetrators of direct or indirect crimes against life forms to a significance whereby termination is an ethical responsibility. Or in defence of my own life, or in defence of others whereby inaction would lead to serious injury or fatality." He nods to himself, and sits.

Good luck, troopers. May the Force be with you."

Avax approaches 'DD' on the way to hangar C, and after a momentary pause,
"What do I get?...   If it's a medal or reward, I'd really rather not."

"That kind of thing brings a lot of attention."

"If it's ok with you I'd really prefer to avoid all of that."

He looks behind them towards the briefing theatre they have just come from, then continues in his way to the hangar.

DD-01H spun up and rolled on out with the rest of the group as they were dismissed, eager to get on with its assigned task.  An idle Droid was just wasting space and energy, after all.  It fell into pace alongside Avax as the insectoid fellow chattered uncertainly along the way.

"The aforementioned phrase of 'getting it' refers to a Basic colloquialism wherein two Sentients share similar opinions or outlooks on a given situation.  My use of the phrase is to express satisfaction that we appear to share complimentary feelings about the importance of killing properly designated targets." the Droid sure did seem keen on putting its vocalizer through a stress test with how talkative it could be. "I apologize if I am not concise in my conversations.  My Master has only recently installed social functions into my systems for the sake of my service to the New Republic.  I am not yet familiar with 'The Small Talks'.  Under normal circumstances I am not required to speak much.  At least, not with words.  I usually do quite a lot of talking with lasers.  And slugs.  And explosions.  They are all quite loud."

"Oh I see. No please it is I who should apologise. My own schematics of social behaviour are perhaps more limited. And unfortunately I cannot download the relevant software, no I would have to practise immersion in a social environment but I've been told I'm not ready for that yet."
He nods for a moment in thought.

"Indeed, I am referring to the use of high-velocity projectiles contained within an energy sheath.  They are particularly effective at putting holes into living beings who lack the funds to properly protect their squishy bodies.  They also have a very satisfying concussive impact that blasters simply cannot match." one had to wonder if DD-01H's Master had given it a particularly... quirky... personality matrix to be so cheerful in that thread of conversation.  "I have heard rumors of genetically-engineered insects used as weapons though.  While it is a fascinating concept, I feel it more prudent to rely on non-living weaponry.  Like grenades.  I enjoy grenades."
