Okay, granted.  Here in California there isn't weather.  The worst it gets is days like this when you can dump out a glass of water and it just joins the other glasses of water that are hitting the ground.  On most days that glass of water will evaporate in an hour.

Hope everyone's been enjoying the holidays! Brief visit to the family but otherwise been staycationing which is nice as I got a lot of things around the home done that I've been putting off for a while.

Not really.  My cat has been sick.  She has been walking like she's drunk, which I am pretty sure is a sign she has had a stroke.  Then wendsday she died.  Like the news about Carrie Fisher wasn't bad enough.  So not a good holiday season.  Now I can't even get enthused about saying goodbye to this Devil Year.

Re: OOC Cantina Chat
Sorry to hear that. My friend's cat died a couple day's after New Year's as well. A few of us were over at her house for a New Year's Eve party and now that I think about it her cat spent an awful lot of time sitting and sleeping under this one particular end table that they never even really go near. I had heard that cats (as well as some other species) when they have a sense that their time is up will pick a "death spot" of sorts as a final place to live out their final hours and days; we didn't realize it at the time, of course, but that spot was exactly where my friend found that her cat had passed on.

... poor transition from that, I know, but I was also posting to see if we were going to pick up where we left off now that the holidays are out of the way.

Re: OOC Cantina Chat
My cat was doing the same thing for the past couple of weeks before Christmas.  She started sleeping behind the TV.  Then she started sleeping in front of the TV.  My mother and I both had a feeling that her time was almost up.  We would occasionally check on her just to see if she was still breathing.  My way though was to pick her up and have her on my lap.  That cat was a real cuddler.  She couldn't get enough lap time.  Sometimes she could be quite annoying about it.  So I knew she was dieing.  I just didn't want to accept it, you know, the Seven Stages of Grief.  Though I don't remember Guilt and Anger ever hitting me.  That cat lived 13 years.  I think that was a fair life span for a cat.

Re: OOC Cantina Chat
13 years is really good - I haven't had a pet pass from old age, sad to say. Growing up, my family had a stray cat we adopted that got hit by a car and we had a yellow lab that had to be put down because it got overly protective of us and got into a streak of attacking guests at our house over a couple-year span and showed other aggressive behaviors that made my parents way too uncomfortable with having other people over. Since I moved out we've had a lovely black lab and something-else mix we adopted from another family and a cat we also adopted that was found by one of our family friends as a stray kitten hiding all on its lonesome in a bush at their house. The cat still has a number of years ahead of her and the dog is about 12 1/2 or so now and is starting to slow down a little and I don't think I'm really prepared to see any of them go.

Re: OOC Cantina Chat
I've had a lot of cats over the years.  Some lived to old age, some only just a year.  Most disappear, that being what cats do when they're sick and dieing, or some neighborhood brats beat on her with a baseball bad.  I even had to put one down on Holloween Night because the Feline Leukemia had reached the point where he couldn't control his bowels no more.  Through it all I thought I couldn't get emotional about an animal anymore.  I thought I had emotionally shut down; that I had experienced so much loss in my life that nothing could get to me anymore.  Glad to say I was wrong.

Looking back on it all I find growing to love a pet, seeing it grow old, and then watching it die is a valuable learning experience.  It prepares you for when your parents die.  It's a normal step in life.  And when the time comes we have to be prepared to handle that thread of emotions.  If not then our reactions to death might not be healthy.  It can make you turn to the Dark Side.

Haha, Jassar... I'm pretty sure Nga is the worst int he party at physical combat, especially wrestling. If it was just punching each other he'd be ok because of the Force, but nothing he has will help him very much with wrestling.

Re: OOC Cantina Chat
Unlikely. The short flappy bird probably doesn't have a negative modifier for both Str and Dex and the worst BAB (Noble). If I roll really well on a memory walk (17+ on die), then I can take away my  opponent's standard action; other than that I'm pretty much already standing outside the ring, and just haven't caught on yet.

Oof. Well, I don't have the Str either and the Dex is more for shooting and dodging... at least you have the Force on your side then? ;)

Re: OOC Cantina Chat
Oh, hmm, if you wait until it looks like I'm losing, I've probably already lost by the time you can get your TK up and running. Pretty sure he could just knock me out of the ring in a single action. :D

Victoria can use his TK on the Weequay.  I've been expecting that.  Count on a Sith toe cheat.

I forgot to ask; does maintaining a dark side power for another round gain any additional dark side points, or is it only on initial activation?

I'm having a hard time remembering what our goal was with seeing the Hutt? Didn't we decide that we're not really trying to rescue Eggs? We wanted permission to go look for something, or something? I know our excuse was that Eggs' animal was ours and that he stole it, right?

I think we need a new guide, and some dewbacks instead of the speeder truck we have. Also, it's just good business to get in contact with the local hutt.
