Round 2 - Combat Over
Despite his attempts to put on a brave face, Marik can’t help but feel the same as Filimena. His heart is pounding like a hammer in his chest and his right leg shakes like a leaf in the wind. All he has ever known of Dragons, he heard it from the teachings and stories of elders or hunters. The teachings spoke of creatures of legendary ferocity, whose appetite for power and destruction rival only those of demon lords. The stories spoke of near-invincible monsters, on whom hail of arrows would break as easily as summer rains of a toad skin, and who could leave trails of destruction spanning entire kingdoms. In the case of a Dragon encounter, the only guidance given could be summed to one word : Retreat. The sight of an adult Dragon flying above the forest had always inspired a sense of dread and the recommended course of action was always to not engage it and disperse in the safety of the woods when possible.
However, as far as Dragons size could go and the information he received form his teachings, this one appears to be very young…a wyrmling even maybe. And his two arrows stuck into his hide more easily than he thought at first. Actually, based on the cries of the beast, Marik feel he did some serious damage to it already. Maybe they could stand a chance…
“I think this one is very young. If we wound him enough, we could scare it and force it to flee” respond Marik, trying as much to persuade himself as Filimena.
Then, the sound of a crossbow unloading and the beast roars anew, Marik look back and see the creature retreat into the ravine.
He rein in Rani. The panther paws suddenly dig into the snow and slides as she break her run.
Marik listens for a few seconds. The beast cries sound farther and farther.
"It's fleeing! Raszire made it retreat!"
Marik signal Rani to go back and she runs to the Dragonborn.
"Raszire! Are you hurt?"
