Chpt 1.4 - Jzadirune
While standing near the entrance, Marik take a small moment to contemplate the architecture of the gate which he couldn't see clearly before. The design is quite shocking to him and quite the opposite of everything his people strives to accomplish in terms of landscape integration. His people have always preferred light, temporary shelter over long-term construction in order to leave as little traces of their presence in the woods as possible. Even the more permanent buildings, like treehouses, were designed to meld almost completely in the natural landscape.
The Dwarves, in their arrogance, had chosen the other way, constructing gigantic structures and monumental holds as if they wanted to eclipse the mountains themselves behind them. While he heard of them often, Marik never had the chance to see a Dwarven hold for himself before. Despite its predictably garish appearance, he must admit the stonework is impressively detailed. It's a shame such talent couldn't have been put to the service of a more harmonious and respectful natural integration.
Focusing again on the task at hand, Marik direct Rani to go near the entrance to inspect it and check out what appear to be a carved hole in the mountain.

The big cat passe through the pile of skeletons, sniffing and looking around. Marik can't help but feel a little disgusted when passing near the corpses of drows. He hope they died painfully. The Dark Ones deserved no less for all those they made to suffer.
Marik look around him suspiciously, bow at the ready with a arrow nocked. He didn't see any enemies on the way in, but he knows they can meld almost perfectly into the environment and that they can attack sneakily. Filimena almost died because of their treachery.
"Let them try to surprise a Sylvan elf, just for laughs. We INVENTED ambushes.". He thinks for himself, confident.
OOC: Marik rolled 19 for a Perception check and Rani 21 for Perception or "Sniff" check, as Petunia the Gnome Barbarian liked to call them ;).
