Re: Chpt 2.1 : Eye Watches Eternal Hideout
Filimena’s eyes flicker open. How long had she been asleep? She is slumped in a corner against a window. The view outside is a different one from before. It is more crowded, more people about, and the rain seems to have stopped, albeit recently. The ground glistens with wet, and the sky looks like it might start raining again still. She fixates alternately on a few of the people she sees standing and talking by the door below, a crow settling on the rooftop of the building across the street, a cart bearing cabbages coming around a corner. Does she imagine that she perceives them more clearly? How can she tell? Had she been dreaming, seemingly moments ago, when she felt the fog lifting from around her mind? A different fog remains settled around her now, one thick with trepidation and uncertainty. She stands precariously against the edge of a vast sea cliff, the words of the Voices lingering amidst the sound of waves indistinct yet unmistakably there, as if carried over a great distance by the wind from some stranded ship she cannot see.
It is not the booming of Disanz that brings her back to the room again, but Marik shuffling about as he rises. The turns to look, and prepares to get up herself.
