Je suis honoré d'être ici , monsieur.

Now, I have a confession. I am using a translator, so if you speak and write French, don't get used to this. lol

I have a question about equipment. I  have not rolled for beginning funds, like a normal beginning character, due to his background. How do you want to handle Gerard's starting gear and money?

The character pic is ok,but not really wanted I wanted. RPOL is rather sparse in 17th century portraits

I am still putting Gerard together, and will have him finished by tomorrow evening.God willing.

As you can see, I rolled max for his money 500 L. What I propose is that his mother pawned some of her few remaining baubles, in order to outfit Gerard. He is her favorite son, by the way. Gerard gets along well enough with his Eldest brother, but Brother wants Gerard to marry some horse faced bucked toothed daughter of a rich merchant from Cherbourg. That still might happen, but between Gerard and mom, they convinced him to postpone the marriage. Bro is not against Gerard attempting to bring some honor back to the family name, he is VERY tight with the family purse strings, so Gerard can expect no allowance from the family coffers. He is on his own,at least in a financial sense.

You know, due to the disgrace of the family name, and Gerard having no money to pay for a commission, he is going to be a common trooper,at first. But fortunes of war might cause a  breeze of good fortune and opportunity to blow his way., Time will tell.

Bonjour Monsieur D'Amberville! It is me, Jean-Luc Le Chat, at your service Monsieur. The road to Rouen will be made all the easier if we make frequent stops at the roadside taverns and inns along the way. Lucky for you, I know where the best of these are to be found. Oh, and your horse Monsieur... it is the finest in the stable. Your Mère, La Madame, had me buy it from Monsieur Melchior du Bois. The one over in Le Perche. Just so happens he has a daughter, Jeanne, tre jolie and available. Not like that horse-faced daughter your brother, Monsieur Armand, would have you betrothed to. Oh... where was I, ah oui, the roadside inns are a good place for the horse to rest. As well as you too Monsieur. To be rested is good no? Especially when you meet Monsieur de Challons. I hear he is a very good commander and horseman himself.

Ah M. de Challons is a Huguenot! *Crosses himself!*

But if the horses find favor with him then why should not the Pope do like-wise I say.

It took me awhile to write and tweek my first post. I am a bit rusty at rping someone from the 17th century. But I think I did ok. Still working on Gerard. I changed his Marital training to reflect the SL. He will now have Cavalry style plus Italian.

FYI, you might already know this, but a socalled "Sabre" in this time period was a straight blade with some sort of hand guard, in western Europe. Think broad sword with a fancy guard. The curved blades where still about ninety or so years away.  Now in Eastern Europe, they have the curved blades.

Hey there! I thought was an excellent post! In fact, I just want to say thanks for both games really. I have enjoyed the writing and RPing very much! I will be kind of busy today but might be able to get up a post later today. Cheers
