The Tattered Valley was a speck of land, eroded and broken, save for a grand hall, a forsaken temple, and a few forlorn gates. As the blight was driven back, strange vistas were revealed - cliffs full of precious minerals and trees that reached high into the skies.

Following the defeat of the Blight, there was a resurgence - first in the valley, and then throughout the Realms Supernatural. Pure creation washed through the place, as second heart of the tree was restored, and much honor accorded to the image of it saviors.

Three structures rose from nothingness; the first was the House of Mirrors, which protected the existing portal to Arthos; the second was the Well of Shadows, a gate to Erebus; and the Tower of Death, which directly linked Eros to the Valley. All three were locked by a titanic power that could only be released by the gods of those Realms.

A new mortal race came into being, morphic beings that took on mixed traits of the three realms - the intellect of the Viese, the communal and orderly spirit of the Aso, and the half-living nature of the Shades. They were the Viedo; monochromatic, winged, and contemplative, appearing much like gargoyles with various degrees of evident humanity.
