Christian Neville:
I have as well. I guess my point is that still say there is one player from Vesten, and no other players from there he will be forced to talk to the characters that take linguist. I could see my character knowing a few words from other languages, but not all.
I just thought that the old game had languages down. They were cheap, and you did not have to buy all, but most likely you would have one or two so you were not limited in RP options
All characters start with languages equal to their Wits (p163). This generally means their home-nation language and Old Thean. I looked out for this specifically, because I personally abhorred 1st Edition's use of languages (want to play an Avalonian in a Vodacce game? That'll be a four to five point 'appearing in this picture' surcharge).
Seraphine could also be part of the ship's crew. Well, not it's crew so much as a passenger. She's part of the Montaigne diplomatic network, and having it well known that she travels around on the
Southern Wind allows just a little more confusion to circulate about her true intentions and location.
