Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

I'm with Lydie that I am unsure what the crew should be doing (or where we should be posting) now that the seekers have their gathering and the ship has left Crieux (which seems the logical end of the first thread.)

And jealous of that deluxe edition, Jarrun,  but I have my regular book in hand and adventures in mind.

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

I am thinking of running a game called 'A Distant Land.' Eventually, the players will sailed to the Eastern shores of Rokugan. If, any player is interested in playing in it. Please contact me. I am also asking for patience from the players. I am really interested to see how to make mechanics flow for PbP.

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

Hello! Eisen Merc for hire here. Can someone give me a quick run down of how best to introduce myself to the party?

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

My suggestion Eisen is not being part of the ship's crew. We already have a marine and a man at arms. I would suggest that you are part of the seekers. The shawl is all about preventing wars and doing good. They are not certain the Black Pearl is not a weapon or at the very least a reason for nations to fight. So, they have you in the seekers. Currently the seekers are meeting with the Captain to discuss the voyage.

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

Hmm. Good idea. I'll make him a Seeker then. Just as well, he's useless around a boat except for fighting.

I am still her. Just waiting for game to move along. Seems most of the Seekers have gone quiet. Really want to play, so lets all post

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

Although the ship's crew hadn't been told of the destination or the reason for it, the captain also hasn't been trying to keep it secret, so someone could overhear what he's saying and pass it on to the crew.

It's conceivable that one of the crew might know this sailor.

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

Well, the Seekers are all in the cabin of the captain.

So, unless one of us was eavesdropping, the Crew is not likely to overhear.

So, while the Seekers are actively involved, the Crew is, for all intents and purposes, background at the moment.  Nothing for us to actively worry about.

I was curious as to how the division into two groups would work.  I'm...a bit concerned if this is to be the manner of things.

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

You know...

On one level, Alicia won't have a whole lot to talk about with many of the Seekers, let alone crew, with her professional interests.

But, as we have seen, Alicia can create situations in which most everyone can join in and communicate. :)

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

I'm hoping after this initial meeting, there will be more of a chance to integrate the two groups as we come to face the same obstacles.

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

The two groups was because there were so many characters. Usually, more than six characters in a group gets very unwieldy and confusing, so I was taking a preventive measure up front by splitting them into two groups.

The general intent was that each group could pursue different avenues... such as the ship's crew would know their way around the docks while the others would know their way around the better parts of a city. Or an adventure on the shore as opposed to inland.

There was no fixed reason for the groups to be locked in... a group exploring inland could easily be half and half.

As I said above, though, the crew would know that if the captain leaves his door open, which he has in this case, it's because he's not expecting the meeting to be secret.

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

Did we lose people?  I apologize if it looks like my character is monopolizing the conversation.  It turns out he is more outgoing than I had originally envisioned.

Re: Rafters Pub (OOCs)

Well Eisen is the quiet sort. Nominal grunts is the most people get out of him. He mostly reacts to most people, never giving his own opinion unless asked. Perhaps I should make him more outgoing. He does have a gallows sense of humor though.

When the Captain said that it sort of opened the door that the sailors were there

Yes, the meeting is being held on the main deck. The ship is already docked, and anything that still needs done can be done by the NPC sailors.

Apologies for another delay. I was going to start new threads for each of the groups today, but I was sick all day. Hopefully, I'll get to it tomorrow.
