Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

My PSA for the day: If you feel flu like symptoms coming on, don't wait to go to the doctor, go immediately.

I work out of two offices, both have had terrible attrition due to the flu. A couple of my coworkers were hospitalized, one had to take a morphine drip b/c the pain was so bad (and she's 71, which really put things in danger mode).

Praying all of you stay as healthy as possible through the cold/flu season - my crud, thankfully, has almost run its course.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Second PSA: So, Rpol has to move the servers sometime in the near future. Be aware that down time may be substantial as they figure things out. I'm not sure when, so I would advise everyone to be patient - a break isn't necessarily a bad thing - usually I'm frothing at the mouth to get back into action after a sustained pause in my games.

In any case, be prepared for RPol to not work suddenly over the next few weeks.

Strains of the flue's you guys are suffering from are being sent to the southern hemisphere to be part of our flue injections when winter comes.  I thank you for your sacrifice.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

I rolled attack and damage in post #151 Seer.  Were those rolls overlooked?  They were good enough for Uthecar and I'd quite like to stick with them rather than roll again.

That's fine - she's not having a particularly good day, and it's about to get worse.

Roleplay for a bit. I'm going to be busy through this weekend with a church event so it'll take me a minute to put into play your Christmas presents. Worth the wait, though.

Cheers!

The Seer:
In lieu of calculating XP, I'm bumping each of you to 2nd level. If you have already accrued enough XP for 2nd level, I'm bumping you halfway up to third level. Use the XP tables for your review.

Uthecar has 1,786 XP currently with 2,001 XP required for 2nd level.  Where shall I place him in the 2,001 to 4,000 XP range.  I'm finding an attraction to 3,999. :o)

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

2001 sounds about right. Don't want to make it too easy, though I've given a king's ransom to the multi-classes by bumping both.

My hope is to accelerate your advancement for the short term as you prepare to take on greater challenges. Think of it this way: You've taken out a 4th level thief, a 5th level MU (albeit one who didn't have a full contingent of spells), 2 ghasts, 1 shadow, one giant skeleton...along with a handful of goblins and other humanoids.

In the grand scheme, those are pretty tough monsters for 1st level characters. Add to that some fun roleplaying and I'm pretty happy to reward you all as a group.

1600 posts - add another 160 XP to the totals after your XP reward.

Nice job sticking with me.

Let's try to get your character sheets done this week - let me know if you have questions.

Thanks.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Understand about real life: Engine light came on this morning. Good times.

I'm not cracking the whip, tho, so take your time. I'm planning on some updates to the game this weekend - first w/end since thanksgiving (November for you out of towners) that I've had to myself (wife will be busy).

Looking forward to the next chapter - foes get harder, but the loot gets better.

Cheers.

LOL  don't even get me started on the real life.  Have blessing aplenty.

workload, Son wrecked his truck (still on the mom & dad plan), got a major speeding ticket, wife recovering from shoulder surgery, just to name a few more.

Gyahhhh!!!

Sorry to hear that. I'll send a witch doctor to cast out the evil spirits. If that don't work, I'll send my priest. He looks like Bilbo Baggins (no, really, he does!).

Does your priest have hairy toes and like a good beer? If so, he is a fine feller in my book!

50-year-old Bilbo or eleventy-first Bilbo?  If he loves beer and has hairy toes, I suppose it doesn't really matter.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Definitely eleventy-first.

Great guy. Tough childhood. Beneath the soft exterior is a will of steel, but a gentle soul nonetheless. He's transformed the dynamic of the parish from a bunch of bystanders to active participants. It's been pretty amazing to see, actually. Typically Catholics are a stoic, punch the clock lot.

I, on the other hand, am more like Boromir. Badass with really low wisdom...and maybe not really a badass either.

:)

Make sure you guys get your sheets updated.

Good news indeed about your church.
Even though I didn't grow up Methodist, I've come to consider myself one after being involved in the church for the last 13 or so years. We need a revival like nobody's business!

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

It's hard to do. I think, for us, it's taken a lot of hard work by just a few people. One of the best things Father did, was to start an annual retreat for both men and women. That's pushed the spirit along in the parish, and more folks (like myself) who just did Sunday and that was it, are now involved in parish events.

Whatever organization/religion, etc. one belongs to, it takes a lot of effort to get the ball rolling, but once it does, its amazing how far the ball will roll on momentum alone.

Okay, folks, let's update character sheets ASAP. I'm going to do a review this coming week - there likely won't be a tone of posting, but expect some PM's if I think you need a prod.

Thanks for your continued participation in the game. I'm enjoying myself. Hope y'all are too.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

I think I managed the levelling stuff, but let me know if I missed or messed anything, Seer.

I'm having a great time!

By the way, my brother just started a 5e game and it's a bit weird, because he and I haven't gamed together like this since we were kids. A lot of fun (yes, despite my dislike of D&D -- long story, have ranted this out already to the Seer and don't want to be boring or suggest that my statement above is untrue) and I've found that playing this AD&D game has given me some interesting perspective in the latest version of the game.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Glad you're having a good time - just downloaded the 5e basic rule set - haven't delved into it yet, but looking forward to generating some ideas from it.

-------------------------------------

Side note: Important.

Note the House rule for Hitpoints and Multiclass characters. You need a slide rule to figure it out vis a vis the AD&D rules, but I think I've made it a bit simpler.

Keep the constitution bonus as you level up. Just make sure you continue to divide the rolled HP by 2. Wouldn't want fifth level fighter/thieves sporting 80HP (well, unless I was a player, of course!).

Let me know if there are any questions.
