Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Check the dice roller and make sure I did this correctly. Added CON bonus for both classes; rolled 21 total; divided by 2 = 10 > right?

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

9+12/2=10.5, round down = 10 HP rolled. Then, I'm giving you additional 4 HP for +2 constitution bonus +2 Fighter, +2 Cleric = 4.

10+4=14 - you get 14 HP.

Gives you a bit buff for advancing both classes at the same time. Even if you're only advancing 1 class, you're still getting the full constitution bonus.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

I added the +4 in with my rolls. My original rolls were 1d8 = 7 and 1d10 = 10; the +2 CON bonus gave me 9 & 12.
So, should I have 17 divided by 2 = 8 +4 = 12 or keep what I originally posted?

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Is there anyone who's not a multi-class in this group!  LOL - buffed party - gonna have to adjust accordingly. Death rays and gatling guns here we go.

Kullonar: 12 total is correct - add the two scores/2, then add your total constitution bonus (+2,+2 = 4)

I suspected this would be confusing. No worries, we'll figure it out.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

There will be a treasure tally this week. Yes, she has a few nifties. So does her beau, who Weasel got with a sick backstab (did he mention that already? LOL) though you might have to look a bit harder to find those.

Hey, wanted to say, thanks again for playing. Without getting too sappy, you guys all make this game fun. I'm just a story teller. I'm always amazed at the cleverness of players, the actions they set for their characters that are both brilliant (or not!) and unexpected.

You all are some of the best players I've had the pleasure of playing with. I don't think I've said that enough.

Let's try to get character sheets done as best you can. The next chapter awaits.

The Seer.

Waiting on a response from Zan. Post forthcoming shortly thereafter.

Hope everyone had a great weekend - table topped 3.5 this weekend with the crew. Great campaign, incredibly detailed world with compelling plot lines. Was at my bud's house last night til midnight. 11 straight hours of gaming. Was a blast!!!

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Nice! On Friday I met with a group at my brother's for a 5ed game he started a few months ago. It's the first time he's run a game in... It's rude to count. What's more, we realized as we were settling in for the first session that it's the first he's run a game I've been in since I was about 12. He's 5 years younger than me....

Anyhoo, it was a great session and though we all met after work still managed to get 6 or 7 hours in.

I'm liking 5ed, by the way.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Keep me informed on 5e. My biggest issue is that I'd have to buy a whole new set of books - by the time I got the complete set, there'd be a new edition released.

LOL. I'm cheap that way. $50 for game books is excessive.

In reply to The Seer (msg # 530):

$50 bucks for ANY gaming book is excessive imho.

And I envy all of you who get to roll real dice!!

I like 5E, but my heart belongs to 1E D&D.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

The pricing on these books is ridiculous, I agree.

We're sharing PDFs, though there are a couple paper copies in the group.

I have a sentimental attachment to AD&D, but it stops there, I'm afraid.

Though, when it comes down to it with the right GM and co-players I'll play anything!

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

It's not the game...it's the people playing the game. Though 4th edition put that to the test a bit.

I mean, let's face it: 1st edition's a hot mess in retrospect. It gets a pass because it was the first one, and it was hella fun as a kid, but most of the time we didn't know what we were doing, and making things up on the fly!  LOL - good times.

Nice thing about 3.5 is that I found most of the books on the cheap in used book stores.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

The constant push out of new editions got old real quick, I stopped at 2nd.  I do hear a lot of good things about 5, but at this time not interested in the additional expense.

I do agree on the players and DM making the game.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Reading between the lines over the years it looks like many of the later editions may have put the wrong taste into peoples mouths.  A bit like a hot curry.  Okay if you're ready for that sort of thing, but make it too hot and it burns people for good.

As 1st edition players we can bitch and debate over the changes, but we always had a fallback position.

A quick online search at shops down this end of the world has the latest DMG going for $79.95 which is comparative with $50USD with another $10NZD added on for travelling costs.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

And see, that's a lot to me. If that were the cost of the first three manuals (PHB, DMG, MM) I might invest in it - likely buy more products as well. As it is, I'm happy with my 1st edition stuff and my 3.5 for face to face.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Well,  When I look at the cost of the new books and start to think I might want them. I then look at the books that I have already purchased and wonder what's the point.  I have most of the material for the 1st and 2nd edition.  I come to my senses and realize I'm good don't need it.

Besides with a bit of searching on the web, most materials can be found.

We didn't remember it was 1st of April until well after 12 o'clock so no jokes were then possible.  My daughter recalled it at the same time as I, which resulted in a tangle of pinches and punches for the 1st of the month and the retaliatory pinches and kicks for being too quick.

LOL - sounds like fun.

I'll be posting later today. If you haven't rolled init/att/dmg, go ahead and do so. Trog's init is 4. I'll reroll Bruno's Init as well. Going back to the original initiative rules used in the 'House Rules' thread: d6 + applicable bonuses.
