Uthecar's crusty, but never let it be said the farts aren't pungent or freshly brewed.  I really should finish the back reading to see if Uthecar likes/trusts you yet Kullonar you half-human half-fighter.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

I had a couple folks ask a fair question: why Bruknar?

You all failed your idea rolls. Bruknar did not thus became the instrument of the divinity in the story. The alternative was a near TPK, which may still happen, but not here and not now.

An interesting parallel, we're all diseased but don't know it yet.

No, part of the divine intervention was that you are all fully healed up at this point. In the immortal words aof Val Kilmar, you all feel 'right as rain'...

I'm ya huckleberry (great movie).

Any of you who haven't watched Tombstone, I recommend it. One of those unsung 'great' movies with a lot of flair and action. Much better than Wyatt Earp, played by Kevin Costner, in my opinion. Val Kilmer's best role, again, IMO.

Val made that movie, the rest was really good, but he stole the show.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

For clarity's sake, you guys pretty much failed all your saving throws, so Bruknar led the way to 'somewhere' - you aren't sure where, except that when Myrrick peeked outside the small sanctum, he noted that the cavern seemed the same, except there were no longer many bats left in the cave.

There is no indication on Zelligar's map of any sort of alcove or space in the area, but you all feel refreshed and fully healed up, disease free, etc.

TBH: I thought it seemed a lame way for a TPK to occur, and the thought of starting the campaign over gave me night sweats. LOL.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Yeah, from my perspective, there's very little cheer in a TPK because the RPol dice roller's having a bad day. Gaming's supposed to be fun. I try to keep that front of mind. There are times when poor play is rewarded with harsh outcomes, but as players we tend to learn from our mistakes. The trick there is does the character survive, or are you starting anew with a new character because of bad play?

So, in this instance, I felt I needed to nudge things along. By and large, this group has played very well. At least that's my take.

So, thanks for playing!

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Guys: this a campaign, not a sprint. However, it's going to move quicker once we get to DragonMount and further on, the Land of Song. Single class PC's will be 5th level, multi-class will be 5 total levels. You mage thiefs, for instance, won't have accelerated leveling as you 'grow up' anymore. I've hit with a lot of nice perks...soon y'all will need every single one of them, and probably more.

The one thing I am not going to do for you is contiually monitor your XP and levels. That's your job, and if spend 30 minutes a week keeping track of your stuff, you won't fall behind.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

Regarding what we each know about each other...

I guess my problem is that I don't remember what class(s) everyone else is despite the long run of this game. For example, I totally forgot than Myrrick was a Ranger/Thief. Indeed, I spent a long time going back through old threads to remind myself who was what class it was not only a hassle, but it didn't actually result in much that turned out to be useful.

Had we all been sitting at a table while playing this game I am confident I'd know these details. Another way to say this is that if we players had spent as much time together in OOC as our characters are spending IC this info would also be better know. What do you say about each of adding our Class info to our descriptions in The Cast link?

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

I'm all for it, but I would say why not just a couple of words in the bio.  Uthecar's is pretty clear - 'Fighter', as is yours Bruno, 'fighter and cleric' and it helps a lot.  I never remember between the various characters and games and I've given up trying to, or back reading posts looking for clues.

If another player isn't going to provide a couple of words in their bio to make it simple, then that is their style and I assume they know the implications, so I no longer mind.  My posts will revolve around what I can easily find and remember as a player not around what I should remember as a character.

What 'class info' details are you looking for?  I'm happy to provide anything really.

Thanks, Uthecar, yours was easy for me to recall, because I was certain that you weren't dual class.

Otherwise, I think class is the only thing I'd like to share for reference.

Re: OOC: The First Chapter - August 2016

I like the idea of using the character info box above the character sheet on the character details page. You can abbreviate: F/th or C/R - something like that. We've been playing together long enough that we should know what the abbrevations signify - if there's confusion, PM the player for clarification.

I'll wait on folks to roll initiative. Those of you who have done so, please roll your attacks as well to accelerate things.

Happy Monday, all. Last week I lost Friday due to Coronavirus. I want it back.
