Myrrick, pleased with his findings, smiles and whirls the polearm around once. "Fancy, this will come in handy, I'm sure of that."

Re: Day 2: Back into Quesqueton

Kullonar gives Zan a toothy grin and then helps the elf to his feet. Once Zan is sure of himself, Kullonar begins to inspect the room, particularly gathering vials for holy water (which will come when they have time for rest and spells).
He inspects the coffin and other cabinets, drawers, closets, etc. to be found in the room.

Re: Day 2: Back into Quesqueton

Having done what he can do with Moradin's power he takes out a flask of brandy and hands it to Weasel, "You're tough, kid, nobody can argue that. A bit of this will help warm ya up a bit more."

Standing he stretches and taking the flask back from the thief he takes a swig himself before stuffing it back in the pouch from which it came. As he does that he picks up his hammer from where it landed and scans the room taking in what else is going on. To say that it is a relief that everyone seems to be conscious and moving better than they had been a few moments ago is a bit of an understatement.

Moving to Kullonar's side he offers the brandy flask to him with a nod and smile as if to say, A cleric's work is never done! Glancing around, "This place is richer with the undead than I would have expected. The more powerful of the damned are impervious to mundane weapons. It was a true blessing that this short sword came into my hands."

Re: Day 2: Back into Quesqueton

Uthecar considers the sword as he looks at his own axe.  ”Is there a blessing you have that would enchant my own weapon brother?  Even if temporary, an axe dedicated to the all father may bite where it would otherwise be of no concern to these undead beasts.”

Sounds like an awesome spell to create to me.  Temporary enchantment to give a weapon a number of pluses based upon the level of the cleric.  Possibly there is already such a spell somewhere.  It could be for a set number of hits based on the clerics level or equivalent turns.  Possibly past a 1st level spell though.

ooc: it's called enchanted weapon, a 4th level spell I believe. Gygax already had that figured, the clever bastard.

"We need to rest and regroup, and I need some time to make sense of what we just faced.  There is always a reason why something worked and didn't work.  Usually magic is in play.  I have a spell that can detect.  I have my suspicions but this is something that I would like to confirm "

Assuming that the group agrees, Zan that the time to make the needed spell ready for casting to help confirm his suspicions

Myrrick paused, holding the halberd, "Zan, could you possibly discover the properties of this weapon? I've never trained in it's use, yet it felt familiar to me..."

Bruno smiles at Zan's comment, "Well, sometimes happenstance and luck come in to play too, but given the nature of this place's history magic certainly is important. I am glad you can detect it!"

In reply to Myrrick (msg # 377):

"To a point, there are different spells that can tell you different things"

Assuming that everyone is ok with it, Zan will take the needed time to cast a detect magic spell over the items that the group has recently discovered to help determine if any care magical properties

Yes indeed, all the items glow brightly to Zan's eyes. A ring, a wand and two potions if memory serves (out of town and don't have my notes with me).

ooc: I'll be back on Wednesday night and will get you guys squared away. Thx for the patience.

"This is quite interesting, several of the items found radiate with magic.  This ring & wand, these two potions, this weapon that was able to harm the shadowy creature."  Zan will call out any additional items or things that radiate magic to the group.

"As for what their actual magical powers or properties actually are, we will need to experiment with them to try and figure that out." Zan adds, "There is a spell that allows some magic users to help determine the properties and powers of an item, but it is one that I have yet to learn and master."

"I should be able to put the wand to use, just need to figure out how to trigger it and what is capable of doing.  Depending on the ring its usefulness varies"

Zan will more closely examine the wand seeing if there are any writings are marking that could possibly indicate how to trigger it and what spell it may command.

Uthecar's reaction to Zan's report brings a grim grin to Bruno's face, "Given the power of he who found this place it makes sense that there would objects of wizardry.

"His partner was a renown warrior, though, so odds are there will be more than Myrrick's polearm there ahead of us."

To the rest of the party, "I think Myrrick mentioned taking a rest earlier. Wandering back out of here may not be wise if we don't have to do so. (We're as likely to meet a fight heading out as we are staying put, is what I mean.) This is a seemingly defensible chamber, I say we set up camp here and recollect ourselves."

Kullonar agrees with Bruno's suggestion.
"A rest would be good for those of us who are spellcasters. But I can also see the urge to move forward. We have two potions. I'm going to taste one to try and discern its qualities. Friend dwarf, would you care to sample the other?"
Kullonar takes a sip of one of the potions and offers the other to Uthecar.

Uthecar nods to the wise suggestion of the priest, echoing Kullonar’s reply.  He holds out his hand to take a sip of the second potion.  ”Dwarves have strong constitutions.” He notes, proud of his heritage as he takes a swig.

Re: Day 2: Back into Quesqueton

Zan continues to search as Kullonar and Uthecar 'taste' the potions. The first, that Kullonar tastes has a slight flavor of brine, or some other salty preservative...almost like pickle juice, although it is clear.

The second, that Uthecar sips, is an azure color and tastes of honeysuckle like found on the plant. He smiles broadly at the sweetness.

Zan's search denotes something in or near the fire pit, where sit the two cauldrons.

Actions.

Uthecar looks at the flask he had taken a sip from, as if he was judging whether he could get away with taking another.  ”Honeysuckle like nectar icing I tasted as a boy on biscuits Ma traded from the elves.”  He finally thinks better of it as he sees eyes on him and hands it back to Kullonar.

”This.” Uthecar says handing the flask of azure coloured liquid to Weasel.  It was clear the dwarf saw no merit in holding onto the flask that didn’t provide any obvious known  benefit.  ”You hold, it might heal.”  Whether Weasel does or doesn't take the flask Uthecar will find a spot near to the fire pit as Zan inspects the cauldron.

Re: Day 2: Back into Quesqueton

Bruno finds a likely place to settle in for the night. He will focus on making some water Holy. Once done with that he'll eat and fall asleep until somebody wakes him for a watch with his loaded crossbow and drawn sword next to him.
