"Or she is boldly leading us into a trap, and we are gullible enough to follow."  Unless Brother Byron warns otherwise Uthecar continues to follow though with some caution.

The girl is moving, but she's not traveling fast (about the same speed as a heavily laden dwarf). Now and again she stops and waits impatiently for the party to catch up. You havent traveled far at all.

Zan chuckled, "The little ghost girl moving at dwarven speed, I do hope we can keep up"

He did keep an eye out for any potential pitfalls

Re: The Adventure Continues

As the party moves forward together, following the little ghost waif, they come to a stairway that descends some fifteen feet, ending in a landing. The corridor shifts to the left here, and the surface is smooth. After about 20', the corridor turns back to the original direction.

Even the dwarves are having difficulty with the maze-like corridors, leaving all three somewhat flummoxed.

For her part, the girl continues patiently onward, pausing when the party slows and halting when they stop, although she seems impatient if the party stalls for too long. After several twists and turns, the party finds themselves emptying out into a vertical chamber that runs up and down.

Suddenly, with a great smile on her face, the girl waves to all of you and disappears.

Uthecar scratches his head.  "We've gone in a square, by my reckoning.  Up there," he points, "and to the right should be the three rooms the same.  Why are we here?" he ponders out loud looking to the others for an answer maybe.

"She either wanted us to find something... or for something to find us." Myrrick peered up and down the corridor. Trying to see or hear anything at all.

Zan looked up and down the vertical chamber, "I believe that she just gave us the shaft."  He looked about trying to get some sort of bearing.

OOC: does this mean we made it to the lower level?

Uthecar considers Zan's words a moment before bursting into a deep hearty laugh the likes of which echoes around the hall and adds some life to the dead and gloomy place at least for a moment.  When he finishes the oppressive quietness closes in once again

Re: The Adventure Continues

The party basically made a big circle to get to this point. If you'll recall the map in the workshop area, you may have noted a series of blinds and small, attached rooms that made up a serious labyrinthe. In effort to skip the drama of describing about thirty 10x10 rooms, one after the other, I figured I'd use the little girl as a plot device.

You're welcome!

So now you get a refresh to someplace familiar, though, frankly, you're still as puzzled on where to at this point. The corridor goes up and down, both directions take you somewhere you've been.

Good luck.

Re: The Adventure Continues

ooc: I see we stalled out a bit. If you would, check the Maps thread. Look for the upper level: room 13, adjacent to the left is the up and down corridor - you recognize it as the passage down toward the wizard's workshop.

You recall that the map is actually posted on the wall in an artistic bas-relief.

One of you might suggest going back to the wizards workshop which is directly down from where your standing (look for the secret door in the wall directly before you).

Oh, and stay away from the labyrinthe. There's nothing there, and it's too much for Rpol to describe nearly unending 10x10 rooms.

Sorry for the delay moving this along. Between travel and work, well, you get the idea.

Cheers!

The Seer.

Re: The Adventure Continues

Kullonar:

Find Room 9.

Look 'up'

You are about halfway up the vertical passage, where a second corridor turns right. That is the passage the little girl led you to. You don't want to go back that way...trust me.

All that to say, it was the way you came, so you'd be retreating back the way you came - no point to that.

Y'all need to study the map. There's a reason I posted it without it you'll be turning in circles until the game crashes because no one wants to die by boredom.

So I'm getting you through what's actually a pretty cool part of the dungeon from a DM's perspective, because describing 10x10 rooms and various twisting corridors, well...you get my point, I hope.

OOC I vote we go down, let's face it, more monsters and treasure that way... or death. Either way. beats going backwards.

I tried reading the map, but I have a 17" crt monitor so that was nearly useless.

I agree we need to inject some life into this, but having said that we're only 2nd level. Hmmm, we might be courting death.

Re: The Adventure Continues

ooc: getting lost in a labyrinth could get you killed as well. look at it this way, you die, you get to create another character and carry on smartly! That tension is part of what makes dnd fun. I think so, anyway.

fwiw. :)

Re: The Adventure Continues

ooc: assume you guys stayed long enough to rest and regain any missing spells.

The party descends the corridor to rooms 8 & 9, spend some time resting from your labors, then study the map. Bruno, Bruknar and Uthecar even hand draw a map on some of the parchment found in the wight's chambers.

Leaving from room 9, you turn left, then turn left again, then turn left one more time and find yourselves in the passage leading down toward the keep's entrance. 10' up the map, the passage splits. You can continue up or you can go to the right.

Marching order please!

Is there not the door into room 2 and room 3 almost in front of us as well?  Uthecar would first consider checking those out if possible, room 3 in particular first and as if there was any doubt, he is in the lead.

Bruno falls into line and follows the party.

OOC: Seems to me that Kullonar and I ought to be in the middle of the group so that we might reach everyone easily with heals and buffs. My memory may be failing me, but hasn't the marching order been something like...

Uthecar - Weasel
Bruno - Kullonar
Zan - Myrick

Maybe putting Bruknar up from next to Uthecar and letting Weasel move about as he wishes (he is our scout and trap/lock dealer-with, no?

Bruno, yes, that's correct. Uthecar, you are also correct. Smart dwarves, who knew? LOL.

Okay, so Myrrick will work rearguard and guard duty over Zan as Weasel plays rover.

Let me know where you want to go.
