Just a heads up.  Traveling to the city we left behind 6 months ago.  We plan to catch up with family and friends during these school holidays.  It shouldn't affect my posting, but if it does you know why.

It's my wife's birthday tomorrow and I've planned a surprise group wine trail excursion into Pinot Noir country for the weekend.  While I've got roaming data through the phone I've no idea of the reliability of internet coverage.  Will catch up Monday if I have problems.

A successful weekend, though not so many vineyards visited.  I made up 4 litres of mulled wine in the slow cooker upon arrival that did more damage to our next days' investigation than intended.  The temperature outside was 6 degrees celsius or 43 fahrenheit so it went down a treat.  Just one of those times when all the various elements came together for a really good time, and we probably couldn't replicate it if we tried.

The next day became an afternoon start but since the other reason for our get together was to celebrate the birthday, no one cared.

We only ended up visiting a couple of small vineyards Johner Estate and Gladstone Estate but found some well-priced wines.  I love it when I think a vineyards 2nd tier label is better than the expensive one they really want us to buy.

We tend to listen to the sometimes pretentious wine talk and then just buy what we like anyway.  The young Dutch girl that was pouring samples at the Johner vineyard was not only easy on the eye but also a little generous with her sample pours.  It wasn't a bad methodology since we bought more at that vineyard than the other.

One of the best finds turned out to be a small cottage industry chocolate shop Schoc.  We ended up spending just about as much money there as in the vineyards.

Sounds fantastic! I have to admit that my problem with things like wine tours is that I tend to be pretty much done in by the first stop regardless of the pours. It's great to get out to vineyards and taste the stuff there though.

We had a dry Riesling from an Upstate NY vineyard this weekend that convinced me that in the 10 years since our last effort to explore them has been well worth the wait, so maybe it's time to try again? Adventure!

Hi All,
         Just a FYI.  My dad passed peacefully in his sleep.  A little sudden as the end came on quicker than expected, but it was his decision to stop further treatment and he is at peace. I’m flying to gather for the funeral and not back in my home town until Sunday your time.  You may not miss by disappearance as I keep unusual hours, but I will probably be distracted, so NPC if required Seer.  I’m all okay.

Hi guys - I'm just here to tell you I'm going to be bowing out of this game for the foreseeable future.

It's nothing bad here or at my end, it's just my daughter went to visit a friend in another city in the school holidays and has come back having played some E5 Dungeons and Dragons and won't stop talking about it.  That was a week and a half ago and I didn't think much more of it other than being glad she had fun with the game as I did.

Two days ago she comes to me to tell me she has now organised a group of friends at school who have never played but are interested in playing and will I DM since I have played before.

Even my old school E1 vibe hasn't deterred them, so with a torch in hand I ventured under the house and pulled out the boxes with the old tomes and the lead figurines.  Among them were the real jewels of my collection, my light blue dice filled with the white crayon from my first DND purchase, the basic red box set.

I enjoy playing with you guys but we all have limited time, and at 15 I'd say I'm on borrowed time before my daughter is more interested in dating than doing something with her dad.

I am only going to keep my hand in a couple of long-running games here ob Rpol, so I will still see you around just not as Uthecar.

Have fun with E5, Uthecar. I'm playing an actual table top game E5 game myself (first in years) and while I don't love the system it's better than the one before.

E5 yikes!! I wouldn't know where to start.  They'll be learning proper old school ADND edition 1.  Personally, I'm just happy my daughter and friends want to do something face to face.

I plan to start them out on a campaign with its roots based around 'Against the Cult of the Reptile God', but I'll rename it to Scion of the She-Demon to stop them jumping on the web and finding out all about it and to also allude to where it is going.

I've always wanted to do a campaign based around ADND snake creatures like Spirit Naga's, Ohpidians, Yuan Ti and Type V demons so now is a good time to write it.

I hope it goes well. I'll be leaving your character open, so if you decide to return, you can pm me and we'll get you back on board. If Uthecar gets killed, you'll have to roll up a new character, but that's always fun anyway, so...

Family Reunion on Long Island from the 2nd to 11th of August. I will have my computer, and will check in periodically, but it's the first full fledged reunion since my Dad passed in 2016, so my focus will be elsewhere.

I'll try to keep things moving along during the trip, say a couple of posts during the vacation, then we'll ramp up toward the conclusion of this first phase of the adventure when I get back.

I’ll be at a professional conference Sat-Tue and I’m presenting. I’ll have internet access but I may have attention drawn away by receptions, workshops and preparations.

I am getting ready to play the campaign that my group of friends and I have been involved in for the last 12 years. I'll pick things up with y'all tomorrow. FYI

I'll be travelling for work and won't be back home until 6/7. I'll have internet access, but I may be slower to respond than usual.

I'll be heading to the Jersey Shore with family from June10 - June 21. I'll have a computer with me, so maybe some game time, but I wouldn't count on it. The good news, I'll be ready to rock n roll through the rest of the year, God willing.
