OOC: This thread is somewhat parallel to the current story, and will help move the plot along. Assume that the previous thread involving Junior and the one involving Bradford, has no relation to this thread



"Of course, officer, please come in." The Mom-thing said, her face wide as ever, the smile plastered on her face factory-drawn, like a hideous doll on an assembly line.

"Thank you ma'am." The Officer said. "This will just take a moment of your time." He said to the group, which included the Mom-Thing, Delilah and Susan. The Officer took no notice of the Mom-Thing's face.

The Officer stepped through the door, taking off his hat and looking up at the double spiraling staircase, the gaudy, lavish paintings on the wall. "A very nice home you have." He commented.

"My name is Officer Dawson. I'll get straight to the point. We have a few missing children in this neighborhood. Have any of  you noticed anything unusual?"

Delilah hurried to see who was at the door, but the adult reached it first. Seeing the back of Mom-Thing's head, took the wind from her sails. She slowed down and slouched near one of the plants in the foyer. She perked up when she noticed it was a policeman. He drew off his hat and she stood up straight. What he had to say sounded serious.

Missing kids? Here?

Delilah looked first to her little sister, then her monstrous mother to see if that freakish face could still smile after hearing about that.

"Yes of course Officer. Please come in." The Mom-Thing's face was unmoved.

The Officer introduced himself as 'Officer Dawson', saying once again that he was sorry to interrupt the family, but that the police were interested if anyone had seen anything 'out of the ordinary' lately.

The Mom-Thing shook her head, the smile still plastered on her face. A smile which, for all its strangeness, the Officer didn't seem to see.

Susan was wide eyed and worried. "No." She said simply. "I haven't seen or heard nothing about that. All the kids that I know are here."

Officer Dawson's head turned towards Delilah in expectation.

Delilah shook her head. "Me neither."

And that was it.

There weren't any further questions being asked. There wasn't any swinging light bulb in a dim, basement room. There weren't even any other Police officers.

Officer Dawson spoke with the Mom-Thing privately for a while near the front of the door. Her face was nodding up and down, smile as unnatural as ever.

And then, he simply left.
