Eoni Daflin:
I know this is the end of the campaign, but... did we level up?
Yeah, after a pivotal milestone like that, everyone would typically earn a level.
The interesting thing about older versions of D&D is leveling is really tied more to wealth accumulation than anything else. As most of you may have noticed during this campaign, there was not that much treasure in this game, so I had to use more of a milestone leveling system to ensure your characters advanced.
At any rate, this game has been running for 3 years (this month actually), and I think 7 levels over 3 years of PbP play is pretty reasonable. If I would have planned it a little better, I might have tried to make it so that every PC earned name-level by the time wrapped up. But as most of you know, since you were here from the start, this game started as a one-shot Basic D&D game and I never really had a plan of turning this into a full-fledged campaign.
After we got through that first adventure, and when the group seemed to have good chemistry, I decided to turn it into a longer campaign. At first I wasn't really sure what to do with it. When the game started, I used the setting from a 3rd edition D&D product, Red Hand of Doom. At that time, I had no intent of actually using the adventure...just the setting.
Once we decided to play on, I decided to adapt the adventure to Basic D&D...and that's what we did. It was interesting adapting a 3rd edition module to Basic D&D. I never ran the module in its native format, but wanted to give it a go because it seemed like a cool adventure. Hopefully you all enjoyed it.
