Chapter 12: The Ruins of Rhest
The party retreats to a sunken hollow some distance from the nearest lizardfolk hut and settles in until dusk, mostly keeping a low profile while watching the area for any signs of activity. The group chooses a spot that gives them an unobstructed view of the nearest hut and the sunken tower in the middle of the lake. There, they see what looks like lizardfolk and hobgoblin sentries walking atop what looks like some sort of wooden scaffolding surrounding the tower, what looks like a recent addition. Additionally, keen-eared members may also occasionally hear a distant, chittering roar and bellow from somewhere within the ruins. The roar sounds very similar to that of the greenspawn razorfiend they encountered earlier.
Near dusk, the adventurers see a group of six lizardfolk board a reed boat, previously unseen by Taerix, and paddle across the lake to the central building area. Apparently the lizardfolk do possess some method of conveyance, if this one piece of information is any indication.
The marsh becomes quite eery as dusk settles over the region, filled with the strange sounds of unfamiliar wildlife all around.
