The half orc turns at the call that to arms.  He follows the flash of fishman back up stream, looking for an opportunity to use his own trident against him.

With a determined look in his eye, Elwood speaks in a low determined voice. "Gloop Loop, don't panic. I'll take care of Tetra Min once and for all."  Elwood then casts Bless.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Tetra Min continues to shoot up the stream.  Stachys, Dreya, and Seline all take their best shots at him, but he slithers past the party and into the portal room undisturbed.

Elwood casts bless.

Gloop Loop simply freaks out when he sees Tetra Min swimming toward the portal.  Anthony grabs him and calms him down (taking charisma as a prime stat paid off big time on this roll!).  The portal master shouts, "If Tetra Min makes it through the portal, I'll be a dead fish when I go through to complete the ritual!"

Cole reaches Stachys and Seline at end of round.

Round 20-ish Situation Report:

Elwood has taken 1 point of damage.
Dreya has taken 2 point of damage.
Cole has taken 31 points of damage.
Stachys has taken 12 points of damage.
Seline has taken 5 points of damage.
Tetra Min has taken 48 points of damage and his helmet is destroyed.
Tetra Min is blinded by a light spell cast on his magnificent eyes.
Seline cast minor dark chaos.
This is round 1 of 24 for bless.

Elwood does his best to block Tetra Min's way to the portal.  He'll grab (bear hug) Tetra Min if the fishman tries to get enter the portal.

(OOC.  If Cole sees Tetra-Min and the fishman is within striking distance, he will attack the fishman.)

Seeing Stachys drop the trident and chase after Tetra Seline would follow as fast as she can and if she is able to get into range she will attempt to attack Tetra Min with her minor dark chaos (if it is still active)

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Keep in mind Tetra Min is inside the water gushing out of the portal.  He's swimming against the current about as fast as a PC can walk quickly. Getting to him will require a PC (or weapon) to penetrate the water and contact the fishman without being blasted downstream.  He is slowing down a bit as he gets to the portal since the force of the water is increasing.  You've got one round, maybe two, before he goes through the portal.

Please try to explain how your PCs are going to try to make contact with Tetra Min.  For example, how is Elwood going to get inside the stream and grab the fishman without being blasted out of the portal room before he is able to grab Tetra Min?  I'll adjudicate SIEGE checks as necessary to see whether your attempts are successful.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

ooc: Stachys will move at monk speed to try and get upstream of Tetra Min and then get into the stream above him, hopefully giving him one chance to grapple and let the current carry them both down.

edit: Spend a Hero Point to succeed in the grapple.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Elwood is going to get in front of the portal, but far enough in front of it so he can still stand, even with the water blasting on his back.  I'm assuming he can judge where the force of the water has diminished a little. His goal is to block. Tetra Min will need to get around him or through him, and Elwood will attempt a grapple.  If Elwood slips and starts going with the stream, he's still going to run smack into Tetra Min, and will try to grapple him our at least smash into Tetra Min while Elwood is sliding down.

Seline is going to try to be on the side of the hallway if possible to travel in a weaker stream or follow in Stachys wake and she will use minor dark chaos so she doesn't have to enter the stream herself or with a weapon

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Stachys's use of a hero point renders everyone else's actions pretty much moot (most of them carried a low probability of success, anyway, under the circumstances).  I'm going to assume people hold off on spells and missile attacks when they see Stachys's heroics.  Firing at Tetra Min would involve a risk of hitting Stachys by mistake.

The monk speeds up the hallway and dives into the blasting stream coming from the portal, cleanly tackling Tetra Min in the process.  This completely disrupts the fishman's swimming and the pair are blasted down the stream.  They hydroplane down the corridor before coming to a stop in a tangled mess as shown on the game map.

Switching back to Vera, Cole spins on his heel and makes his way toward the tangle of limbs and fishman.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Elwood made a fervent prayer to Flyspamon, hoping that his deity would allow him to tackle Tetra Min and protect Bloop Loop.  To his relief, Elwood saw that Flyspamon did answer his prayer, in the form of Stachys.

"By all mean Gloop Loop, do whatever you need to do to close the portal.  You're protected from Tetra Min"

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Stachys releases his hold on Tetra Min in order to start pummeling the fishman.  Tetra Min takes advantage and starts to swim back upstream.  The monk lands a hell of a right cross to the back of the fishman's head for 6 points of damage.  The blow staggers the fishman for a moment.  That's just long enough for Dreya to come sailing down the stream at break-neck speed directly into the dazed and blinded Tetra Min.  The fishman collapses with a groan and his limp body drifts back toward Stachys.

Cole continues to trudge west through the rising flood waters.  Going back and forth like this is giving him quite a workout.

Anthony, Elwood and the nervous Gloop Loop continue the ritual in the portal room.

Well, glad that she could finally be of some help, Dreya starts to fight her way back against the current, looking for the resident ranger.

"Sir Hiller!  Sir Hiller!" The wood nymph calls, trying to send her voice above the roar of the rapids.
