The Basement
Vyctor sits in a comfortable chair over near a work bench, all of it attached to the floor and wall of the house respectively. He sits in a relaxed position, completely unworried about the explicit threat glaring at him across the room.
"Vexember and the others like him are not 'gods' in any sense of the word. I call them the Star Demons, because that's what they act like. They control the worlds and prevent any race, human or otherwise, from advancing too far technologically. They are the murderers. They and their stooges that I am accused of murdering." As he speaks, he looks around at each of his three guests. However, his gaze bores into Django at this point. "I know you hear this a lot, lawman, but I didn't actually kill those government officials. I even warned them about their impending deaths, but they were so zealous for their 'god' that they refused to listen. They had discovered something wonderful, something awesome, and in their zeal took it right to Vexember. He killed them just for knowing it."
He shakes his head and puts his right hand to his forehead to rub out the frustration. "Fool. I got blamed for it because Vexember caught wind of me when I tried to help them. Your bounty was placed by the Demon himself. Thankfully, I have publicly and truthfully cut all ties with my family long ago in order to protect them. When I knew this would be my path, I told them to denounce me, to hate me even, if that's what it took to truly disavow me. So far it's worked, it seems. The Demon has left them alone."
He drops his hand and looks around at his guests again. "I cannot do this alone. I need a team, and I don't want folks too set in their career paths or too attached to this world. Above all, I need people with potential, courage, and the need for freedom, to be their own people. All of you have skill sets that would help me take down Vexember. You need to train, of course, but I can help with that."
Vyctor laughs and holds up his hands. "I am getting ahead of myself. Mr. Blint, I saved your life because I see in you what I'm looking for in a team member, but moreso because it was the right thing to do. These ruins are dangerous, but I'm tapped in to most of the building's old security systems and can keep an eye on the action. I saw Tump and you both fall. I saw that idiot Dafe bring Stacia down, but had to keep an eye on them from afar for a bit since I was busy. When that she-wolf Nerra revealed herself, I had to stop my work and go help. I also have a few people who feed me info when anything happens on the surface." He finally leans back in his chair a bit and rests his arms on on the arms of the chair, waiting for Django to process.
