The two leave the ground just in time.  Several more of the armored critters leap out of the darkness trying to get at legs rising into the air.  Unfortunately for them, their armor weighs them down and they do not leap very well.  Twenty of the things swarm below, snarling and sniffing about.  They all avoid the gel and the remains of their kin still stuck there.

There are a set of broken stairs about 300 meters west on the same wall as the turbo lift.

The Basement

The staircase is wide open and easy to ascend, even on the ceiling.

For the critters, too.

At the top, there is a regular plaza area inside some kind of tech company building.  There is a counter that was likely the reception desk.  Tall transluminum screens are broken in the lower levels, but are whole further up into the darkness.  The place is wide open and the two explorers can see the front doors, blocked and unopened.  There are curiously no windows to the outside on the front facade of the building, which means the company was big on keeping its intellectual property a secret.

A series of balconies goes up into the darkness.  The current light only reveals five stories worth.  There are also six halls leading back underneath the balconies and two main banks of turbo lifts on the walls behind the counter.

The two men quickly chew through the vermin as they surge up the stairs.  It turns out to be more of a stress reliever than anything.  Before long, the critters get the idea and stop coming onto the stairs and into sight of the two gunmen.  All grows quiet and the smoke clears and then there is a single low, guttural purring sound from behind and above the two men.

The relighast sees the two men move, not understanding the significance of the things in their hands.  A wild beast like this in the underdark of the ruins would likely have no experience with men.  Nonetheless, when the men make small moves away from it, the relighast lunges at Django, it's jaws snapping.  Luckily, Django is quick enough with his gear to move out of the thing's reach.  He soars up into the open air of the main lobby.  Had he moved backward to dodge, the thing might have had him.

Tump also leaves the creature's reach by moving up the wall on the inside of the building.

The Basement

The two men land on a third story balcony inside the main building.  From there, they search the building for clues as to where any useful computer tech might be.  One particular lab/warehouse section of the building looks promising for the symposium.  A consultation with a faded physical map shows the route there to be simple enough.

A simple problem presents itself in the form of a gaping chasm across to where the hallway resumes.  During the time this building has been down here, a structural failure due to some unknown cause created a huge collapse through the center of the building.  A testament to the engineers of that time, the collapse is only fifty meters across.  The gap explains how the relighast got it and also provides a way out that isn't the sewers.

Another use of the flight gear takes the two across the gap.  As they fly over, the relighast appears again and roars at them, but otherwise leaves them alone.  Fifteen minutes later they hit pay dirt.  The warehouse is indeed the location of the symposium.  It has a relatively sealed environment and the dry air coupled with that has resulted in a number of skeletons scattered around.  Whatever happened here, people ended up trapped inside.  Three skeletons lie on the floor near the door, one pushed out of the way when it opened.  That one is partially crumbled into dust now.  Others are just sitting in ancient chairs, splayed out as if they fell asleep there and never woke.

The good news is, there is technology everywhere.  Computer systems, droids, all manner of cybernetics and other tech.  There are even some things that look like they might be weapons.  Over in one section there is a sign in archaic language of Core...Corellia that says "ship systems".
