Mechis III - Local Space

Inarra looks up from the cockpit and rolls her eyes.  "Look, there is nothing you can break that I can't fix.  You don't know enough yet to get into real trouble.  I can help you, but what if I'm not around.  Fighting the Star Demons, you are going to encounter stuff like this a lot.  Just relax, breath, and take it slow."  She grabs a couple of tools and waves Django down into the cockpit with her.  "C'mon ya big fraidy schat."

Inarra guides Django through the steps to remove the droid processor casing.  It looks like a large sphere with a hundred ports for wires.  Most are not initially connected.

{+1 XP to Craft: Droid}

"We can connect through several of these.  I think we should bring it onboard the Falcon and do it on one of the work-stations there.  If the Star Demons can trace code the same way Relic Hunters can, they will trace the modifications we make to the Falcon, which they don't know anything about, instead of Mechis III.  It will shield the planet, in my estimation, from retribution."  She looks at Django, waiting for his authorization.

It's hard to tell if Tump is jealous, or just impatient, but he seems overly eager to move on. "No point standing around here then, if we're to move this pile to the Falcon, I suggest we get to it. The sooner we find out what's in its brain, the better."

Mechis III - Local Space

Tump and Inarra work to get the droid brain hooked up to the work station, careful not to give it access to anything important on the Falcon.

Then, Irin gets to work.  The amount of data is overwhelming, but the droid's programming is rather simplistic using the group's current droids as a standard.  Even RX-79 is more complex in its algorithms than this droid.

"The ship it flew is called the TIE/sr or TIE Scout.  TIE stands for Twin Ion Engine, a cheap, efficient sub-space drive that is great for smaller ships, but the Scout is pushing the edge of that limit.  The larger ships flown by us would not do well with such technology."

It takes more than an hour for Tump and Irin to delve deep into the systems to find anything of value.  Part of the reason is the droid's primitive brain attempting to block them.  Thankfully, the first thing Inarra did was find the deletion protocol and cut it out like a cancer.

When the motherload is finally hit, it is beyond anything the group could have hoped for.  Irin is literally bouncing with excitement.  "Django, come look at this!  These are modern star charts with a listing of every Star Demon, their current forces in space, their presence on the ground, and even places where they don't bother with like Mechis III.  They were so confident in their supremacy they didn't bother to hide anything."

She looks up, beaming.  "We have everything!"

Django smiles -a rare sight- at Irin. "Good work everyone. Not only does this make plotting courses easier, it gives us a road map of what we should currently consider no-go zones. Heck, this could let us slip right in to a Star God's backyard without being in too much of a ruckus. Help me make sense of this all though. What kind of numbers are we talking here in terms of planets, enemy forces, and what have you".

Irin types away at the console pulling up pertinent data.  "Whoa.  So, according to this, there are six hundred and sixty Star G- er, Star Demons like Vexemeber, but they are lead by 6 Overgods.  Well, I guess Overdemons.  They each have a sector of the Galaxy, though there are only seventy out in this area," she indicates a galactic map and the upper left quadrant on the screen.  "It's marked as 'The Wild Region' with an older coding for 'The Unknown Regions'.  Guess there's not as much out there so they don't need as many Demons to keep control."

"The good news is, that out of the planets on our list to visit, three of them are not actively within any Star Demon's control: Yavin IV, Jedha, and Ahch-To."  Irin highlights their locations on the map

She pulls up some different numbers and then slumps a bit.  "They have various levels of control, of government over their regions.  Some, like Vexember, are relatively lax.  Some are absolute tyrants.  That's not the bad part.  These numbers here list resources and troops available.  They number in the billions."

Django walks to the other side of the room and slumps into a seat, while lighting up another smoke. "Billions... and over six hundred like Vexember... damn" he says, speaking more to himself than anything while staring blankly at a bulkhead across from him for a moment. With a solemn look on his face, he sits quietly and thinks.

Irin digs back into the data.  "No, nothing like that.  Their military resources are all...idle.  The most active logs list the last rebellion four hundred years ago on some backwater desert planet called Tatooine.  It lasted two days.  Since then, it's all training, and mock combat.  I'm not sure what for, though.  Anything else is just local enforcement."

Vyctor sits down on a piece of landing pad equipment.  "Back when it was just me in this fight, I never considered the numbers.  They don't matter.  Doing what's right is what matters.  There's an imbalance in the galaxy right now, not just in power, but in everything.  Something is...off.  You can feel it.  The Star Demons have broken something and if it's not fixed, one day there will be no more opportunity for rebellion.  The last one was 400 years ago."

He wipes his forehead with a cloth and it comes away damp.  "We stand up to these monsters and we do what we can, play it smart, and things will tip back into balance.  I have to believe that.  I know I can believe that.  You all are proof of that.  First, there was just me.  Now we are eight and a planet.  Billions are a trifling.  It doesn't matter.  We will fight, we will show the galaxy that it can fight, and our numbers will be in the..."  He glances over at Irin.

Tump raises an eyebrow. "330 quadrillion what? People, that have no idea what's going on? Look, you know my history better than anyone else here, and I'm not one to poo-poo all over a plan that seems hopeless or against all odds, but how do you plan to rally an entire galaxy? Even if we could reach that many people, how are we going to do it without getting snuffed out before we're even heard?"

He gets up and starts pacing back and forth a bit. "This race is starting to look more like a marathon, and unless we get more skin in the game, this is going to end before it starts. We need to find this temple and figure out what Guri's plan is supposed to be."

"And where the last rebellion went wrong". Django snuffs his smoke and puts the remains back in his tin. "We play this smart. We don't go in guns blazing the first chance we get and blow our cover. We have to be like a sickness to them. Slowly spreadin'. Never visible, but always there. That's how we do this. We rally the people, one by one if we have to. We arm em' with somethin' more powerful than slug guns and blasters. We arm em' with knowledge. That there are those of us who fight and bleed for this; for what's right by everyone, not a select few. And we start with Guri. So pack your bags ladies and gents, we got a course to chart and kilometers to burn".

"Irin has everything downloaded that we need.  Let's get this thing sliced up and reinstalled.  Captain's got planning to do, so it's just you and me."  She begins plugging her own datapad into the droid brain and points to an extra set of ports for Tump.  "We could use Ayce on this one, too, I think."

{Taking 10 will get the job done, but will take an hour, plus the job will be standard - this is in spite of any bonuses you have.

If you roll, anything under a 10 just means 10 minutes extra for every 1 under 10 you roll to get the standard job done - Ayce and Inarra will cover any mistakes.  Don't roll a natural 1.

If you roll over a 10, for every 1 over, you shave off 5 minutes, and you increase the DC of the roll of anyone who might notice there was tampering done by 1/1 over 10.  A roll of natural 20 is flawless, meaning there will be no detection and the job will take only 15 minutes - i.e. you found a weakness/shortcut to exploit that is fullproof.

Tump is doing the actual slicing to give false information.  Inarra's 'roll' is just handling the droid's physical aspects to wipe any log of removal or foreign connection.  Ayce will be filtering language difficulties and processing all variables that may come up during the multiple slicing attacks the three of you will be handling.

+1 Slicing Skill XP}

Tump cracks his knuckles and gives Inarra a sly wink. "Alright, let's get this thing doctored up."

He pulls out his tools and connects to the droid. For all one might guess, his confidence paid off. Once he finally finds his groove, the time seems to fly by. "It's almost like they left this back door wide open. These guys got sloppy with this one."

Even though it only took twenty-five minutes, it was by no means a rush job. He disconnects from the droid and puts his gear away. "They're gunna have a tough time cracking that facade. That's even if they're looking for one."

The group is impressed with Tump's work and congratulations are given all around.  Even the typically sarcastic Ayce compliments him.  Only GDI refrains.

At least he is silent.

Inarra, Tump, and Ayce reinstall the droid into the starship.  Irin goes to check on Ronan one last time while they work.  Soon, the TIE-scout is back in space, set with a reactivation timer, and left to drift in a stable high orbit.

All now sit within their respective ships - Irin with Django, Ayce with Tump - orbiting the planet.

Mechis III comes over the comm.  "Twice now you have worked to protect me.  I will not forget.  When the time is right, call on me, and I will answer.  Until then,
 I will see to Ronan's recovery.

It's one location to suposedly find Guri, and whatever the voice in my head was down in the tunnels also said go, so we start there. Worst case scenario is that we end up with the dead lead, but because we know enemy presence there is nil, it's no harm no foul. Ayce, you good on locking a route on those coordinates?".
