Jedha

The ships arrive in the extremities of the Jedha system and check around for potential hostiles, traps, life, and any number of things.  The HUD indicates that Jedha is actually the moon of the second planet orbiting the sun, NaJedha.  There are six other planets beyond NaJedha, including three minor gas giants, two of which are in opposing concentric orbits, and two massive gas giants closer in.  The last planet is a small ball of frozen methane far beyond the last gas giant.  It has a slightly acircular orbit.

As the ships' sublight drives bring them past the giants toward NaJedha, scanners begin to pick up strange energy readings on both the moon, Jedha, and the planet.  The moon is arid, barren, and of no significant distinction in the whole of the galaxy.  The planet, however, is made of pink crystal all the way through.

"Captain, I am picking up faint life signs on the planet and the moon.  The energy signature down there is distorting the readings so I cannot determine the nature of the life."  Ayce's text-comm pauses from time to time as if the signal is getting delayed.  The contextual integrity algorithms correct the sketchy transmission, but it's something of note.

As the ships approach the moon, Ayce reports over text-comm.  "Atmosphere human normal.  No biohazards detected.  Scant vegetation or other simpler life signs.  Still nothing accurate on mammalian life."

The ships land on a wide plateau with good visibility in all directions.  The northern edge of the plateau angles down until it meets a rising terrain providing a natural ramp about a mile long off the table top.

The whole region is dotted with these plateaus, columns, and other formations.  The region is five hundred kilometers wide and looks like some kind of washed out canyon, except that there are no canyon walls marking the edge of the region.  The plateaus just stop.  Open desert dominates the south and east.  To the north there is scattered vegetation, something attempting a sparse forest.  To the west there are some flatlands for a couple of hundred klicks, then the moon's freshwater ocean.

As everyone disembarks, they begin to look out over the edge of the plateau for anything resembling life.  There is very little to go on other than many more of the plateaus, thick columns, and the valley floor below.  RX and Ayce spend about ten minutes setting up a small, external camp, a base of sorts while the organics figure out what to do.

Vyctor, Inarra, and Irin spread out around the plateau to see if there is anything to see.  The whole thing is about a square kilometer in area, but irregular.

Tump and Django, though, are the first to see the statue.  At first, the sand cover obscures the shape.  A thousand years or more of accumulation has made it almost indistinguishable from the rest of the surroundings.  However, an unmistakable eye peers back from beneath a stone-carved cowl.

The whole thing is a singular lump of proportions with a thirty-meter tall human statue on its side.  It is also the only such lump in sight from the plateau.

We still got a long ways to go in this marathon yet, and we need to stick together, else everything is going to fall apart."

Irin looked stunned at Django's tone, but Tump snapped her out of it with his offer of help.  She trots of with him to get the bikes out.

Meanwhile, Ayce indicates that he and RX have things well in hand at the camp.

Once the bikes are out, Inarra makes a case for staying behind and monitoring sensors and keeping an eye on the droids.  Irin, Vyctor, Tump, and Django all mount up on their vehicles.  Vyctor has chosen to test out Ronan's four-legged droid mount.  With great surprise, the thing easily keeps up with the more conventional hoverbikes.

About fifteen minutes after descending the ramp at the back of the plateau, the four humans are standing at the eye of the statue.  Looking around, there are several likely candidates for artificial structures that it might once have guarded.  The largest is a rather squarish plateau that has partly been blasted away on the backside by some strange earth storm centuries ago.  Thankfully, there is an opening of sorts on this side of it.

True to the thoughts presented, as the group explores further, they do indeed come across a floor plan that reminds of some kind of ascetic temple with meditation rooms, a main auditorium for meetings, and even open flat-floored rooms for possible melee-style training.

The place has long been abandoned and anything not stone has crumbled to dust or been scavenged long ago.  The two traps found by the group on the way in were so badly ravaged by time they would not have worked even if sprung.

However, one room provides something valuable to the crew. In the room are maps of what appear to be the star system, the moon, and the main planet.  However, the motif of the entire room is about crystals and these odd swords in the stylized pictographs all over the walls.

There are no actual crystals here, but they are obviously important.

Once back at the ships, the droids are given directions to watch the starfighters while the humans all pile on to the Falcon.  Fifteen minutes later, the old freighter is entering the planet's atmosphere.

Irin reports that scanners are scrambled horrendously by the crystals growing all over the place.  Most are pink, but there are a scattering of other colors as well: green, blue, yellow, and even some that run the gamut from opaque black to clear white.  She also reports that she is picking up multiple life signs, but the crystals are creating echoes making the number impossible to determine.  Could be ten could be ten thousand.

She does report that they are relatively close, within a hundred klicks give or take.

The four explorers head cautiously into the cave.  Light reflects continuously from the outside so that - while not blinding - the whole cavern is lit enough to see in without help.   The ground itself seems made of crystals crushed to find powder like sand.

"Careful not to stir this up," Vyctor comments wryly.  "It'll be a pain to get it out."  His voice echoes oddly in the cavern, and there is a low pitched hum as his voice causes the crystals to resonant several seconds after he stops speaking.  His eyes go wide and he clamps his lips shut from that point on.

There are many hidey-holes, offshoot tunnels, and formations to hide behind, but the main path is clear.  It meanders back and forth around larger formations but generally heads east.

"Captain," Irin whispers.  "According to this, we are surrounded."

As she speaks, the group rounds the last formation to come upon a huge amphitheater in the ground.  There are waves of crystal that create upper, mid, and lower sections for spectators to stand.  In the center of the floor at the bottom, there is a crystal altar up on a wide, flat stage.

They seem to hum.

"They're beautiful!"  Irin approaches and waves her hand over them, seemingly afraid to touch them.  Her hand passes over the yellow and she pauses then goes back to it.  "Do you hear-  No, do you feel that?  They are humming, almost singing to us!"  Her face beams and there is a calm and wonder there that is perfection.

Irin had always been beautiful, but at that moment, there was something flawless about her, an energy radiating out of her that somehow enhanced that, not in a primal, physical way, but in a way that souls can connect to one another on a higher level.  At that moment, there is a connection - not made, but extended - between her and those that can see the energy.

She takes the yellow crystal and holds it aloft, perhaps to gain a better look at it in the light.  It looks nothing less than a vision of victory, a champion queen holding aloft the emblem of triumph over the forces that had assailed her and her people.

All around her the aliens get to their knees.  They sit with backs straight, hands on their knees as if meditating, though they say nothing and their red eyes are open, staring.

Irin beckons the others.  "Come.  It's like nothing you've ever imagined.  Knowledge, the sense of life, the sense of time..."

Tump steps up to the altar. He looks over at Irin as the yellow light of her chosen khyber crystal then turns his attention back to the six remaining crystals. With a similar gesture, he holds his hand just above the crystal, not quite sure what to expect. An affinity to one of them, or perhaps something to guide his hand.

All the remaining crystals resonate at his presence, but as his hand passes over the blue crystal, a sense of calm takes over him. Something reaches out to him, inviting him to pick it up.  As he reaches for it, it nearly leaps off the altar into his hand, and the sense of calm that tingled all over him now begins to focus itself at his core.

Tump steps back from the altar, crystal in hand, with a new sense of purpose and determination in his heart.

The yellow crystal resonates with feelings of empathy, healing, knowledge and connection to all living things.  Healing in this sense is not just physical or even emotional healing of individuals, but healing of relationships and civiliations as well.

Blue gives you the sense of a weapon honed for battle, precision, and justice.  It gives the sense of one who is a guardian of his people, but as one who seeks out those who would destroy rather than waits for them to come to him.  There is an intellectual side here, knowledge is a weapon as much as anything so the crystal gives off a sense of patience, skill, and a desire to think through situations and a will to strike when necessary.

Black gives you a vision of a wall, like a fortress.  Immovable, protection, the identity of the one who stands at the front of clan in the way of danger.  It feels dangerous, precise, and able to absorb all that is thrown at it in willingness to sacrifice everything to keep clan alive.

Grey seems to be pure patience, knowledge, peace, and individuality.  There is no clan or seeking of power for any purpose, just a sense of balance.  It gives you a sense of the vastness of space, not in an overwhelming sense, but as a place to explore and learn.  Knowledge is not experienced as power, but a tool and something to be learned for it's own sake.  There is passion there but tempered by patience, the knowledge to fight and fight well, but the wisdom to know that fighting is almost never necessary.  Above all there is balance and within the balance...peace.

Green gives a sense of mystery but not as in something unknowable, but in something that should be solved.  There is a hint of the revelation of puzzles, intricacies of governments, and something far grander, the mysteries of...something.  Green has a detached feeling to it, an isolation or meditative quality to it.  This feeling doesn't disconnect from everything on a permanent basis but takes a step back in order to understand all things better.  There is peace here, too, peace in the sense that all things have their proper place, peace that comes from solving a puzzle, completing something, or bringing nations together in harmony.

The clear one is a strange, empty feeling.  Not in an isolated, imprisoned way, but more like an expectation of being filled.  There is nothing else to it, no knowledge, no wisdom, no peace or passion, just the vast, empty place...waiting.

The last one, the pearlescent one of scintillating colors is the opposite of the clear.  It is full of energy, life, power, passion, love, hate, anger, joy, all the gamut of emotions.  There is something else there, a sense of 'goodness' or 'rightness' that wants to harness all these feelings towards a purpose.  What that purpose is, does not come across by waving a hand over it.  It's almost as if the crystal is alive with a will of it's own.

Irin pulls back, starting to close the cloth, horrified at Innara's reaction to the crystals.

Innara is faster.  She darts forward and snatches up one of the crystals, then drops to her knees, weeping and cradling the crystal in her fists like a child.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/w..._campaign=DesignTAXI

Jedha - Mid Rim (Not on map) == North of Bothan Space
Ossus - Outer Rim (Auril Sector); North East
Yavin IV - Outer Rim (Gordian Reach); North East
Courscant  - Core World; North
Tython - Deep Core (not on map)
Ilum - Unknown Regions; North
Ahch-to - Unknown Regions (Not on map)

"As it is, we were fortunate that Mechis III knew the coordinates of Jedha since it isn't on the map we downloaded from Vexember.  I have added it to our map.  Considering galactic Physics, either Coruscant or Tython would be closest and most fuel efficient.  We would need to refill after three more jumps anyway since we are literally traversing the galaxy.

Consider also that Ossus and Yavin are close together and once we explored them, it's something of a straight line of best fit from there, through Coruscant, Tython, Ilum, and then search for Ahch-to.  However, we do not know exactly where Tython is.

Coruscant is essentially a straight shot towards the core of the galaxy.  We will arrive from the Mid Rim in about sixteen hours.  I recommend sleeping now if you can, and setting an alarm to be well awake before then.

We do not know what dwells on Coruscant, but we do know one thing.  Coruscant is under Star Demon control according to Vexember's map.  The local Star Demon is Xarichard.  No other information is given except that he rules from the surface, not from space like Vexember.

"I've done my fair share as well, but still. I don't mind a good brawl every now and then. Makes a man feel alive when he walks away from the settlin' dust".

"That may be, Captain, but we are it and our numbers are few.  Perhaps we should come out of hyperspace at the edge of the system and scout around before we blast our way into an unknown environment?"  Vyctor's tone is one attempting to be polite, but there is an edge to it.  No doubt he is still experiencing angst about the crystal seeds and all the mystical mumbo jumbo.

"I didn't mean we go lookin' for the fight, Vyc. Course we're gonna scout the place first".

Coordinates set, Captain.  Ready to make the jump to hyperspace on your command.

"Alright, buckle your belts and pucker your butts, we're makin' the hop".

Django leans back in his captain's chair, tilts his hat down to think, and eventually sleep.

One by one the ships accelerate into hyperspace and are gone from the Jedha system.

On the planet, NaJedha, a single Duros spirit looks up before he fades away.  "May da Force be wid you."
