Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - Venturing into the Narlmarches
You rush through the wilderness, your eagerness meaning that you're not able to explore in any kind of meaningful manner, making rough notes of the forests borders and not much else. You follow Happs' directions, heading west once you hit the woods till you hit the river. You haven't hit one by the time night hits and you're forced to make camp. It took you about 3 hours to cross the plains on horseback, another 5 to get to wherever you are in the forest. What do you do at camp that night?

Do remember that you will need to track rations and such as you travel, the bandits had two days each as well as two days worth of horse feed on them.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
Gawain makes an effort to be as useful as possible in terms of setting up camp. He'll take his fair share of watch duty and will spend any spare time he has building raport with his newly acquired steed. The poor thing likely hadn't had the best of lives with Happs and his crew and would no doubt have a few bad habits that would need sorting out before it could be counted among the ranks of knightly chargers but Gawain liked the challenge. If nothing else he needed to make sure that it wasn't going to bolt or rear on a bandits command, though he doubted they had that much equestrian talent, it was better to make sure.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
Carslan quietly works with his horse as they ride, stopping his attention to it only once to bring down a buck deer and pop it over the back of the saddle.
That and to talk to the Bandit once he wakes up, he'll quietly explain to the bandit how things are going to be from now on, he's been spared with proviso and is expected to live up to certain Standards (You can hear the capital S) rather than predating upon others.
If he does, hey, life'll be good so why not give it a shot?
Once camp is made he splits the beast and cooks it, serving the meat seasoned with herbs and berries foraged from horse back on the way there, more than enough for everyone with a skin to cure for later.

One thing he does aim to do if possible is organize the watches to share a late night watch with Gawain.
He wants to feel out the knight a touch and what better time to do it than a few lonely hours early in the morning, besides, Jack can cover the actual watching part of the watch for the both of them if need be.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
Tatyana rides towards the front of the group, keeping a good eye out for any dangers or hazards in the path the horses are to take.

She helps any of the others who are not as accustomed to riding to mount and dismount, and once the group is settled she informs everyone "I have packed three days rations each from the pantry at Olegs, there is also enough feed for the horses for at least three days. If we get short I have some personal rations for the horses, I would hate to see any of them go hungry."

Tatyana offers to take an early watch with Valentina, if she would like to join her. Wishing to get to know her better... also not wanting to spend too much time with the sailor. Despite her clear victory in numbers in the earlier conflict.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
Valentina appreciates help with saddling up. This steed was not familiar to her since horses weren't used much on the Isle. The boat was the prefered way of transportation. During the journey she tries to ride as closely to her companions - primary Tatyana - as possible, not wishing to be left behind. But even then witch would sometimes stop to have a look at a tree or a squirell or a radish-looking stone that managed to attracted her curiousity.

"I wish to help," - Valentina sends her voice into druid's head when he sets up a fire pit, - "I have never cut a deer open before. Only fish. Big fish and small fish. Fish with bulbous heads and fish with teeth like bonesaw."

The rest of the evening, before falling asleep, Valentina spends exploring camp's surrounding and searching for radishes and herbs. She eagerly agrees to share the watch with Tatyana.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
Gawain is happy to take watches with Carslan, his elven heritage made him well suited to the twilight hours and he saw it as an opportunity to observe the peculiar fetish that the 'druid' had brought with him. By this point any mistrust or apprehension he had precisely felt towards it had passed, to be replaced with a strange curiosity for the thing. Gawain won't ever be so rude as to question Carslan on the creature, if it could even be called that, but he is clearly intrigued by the little Jack and will spend the quieter moments just watching it.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
Alexander had realised a very important things since he left Oleg's outpost. He really hated riding horses. Riding was a fast but painful way of travelling and left you at the whim of the beast you were unfortunate enough to be on top of. The horse that Alexander had chosen didn't seem too pleased at the arrangement either; Something about carrying him and all of his heavy equipment... probably.

Having finally bumbled into camp a little behind everyone else. Alexander throws his belongings to the ground and rolls off his horse. Composing himself, he gets his tent and begins to erect it, listening to other people work out their watch rotation.

"Well. Looks like Tabler sails solo today. I'll take the bloody middle watch. Hopefully a short nap 'll solve my sore arse and make me hate Boris a little less.."

With that "useful" knowledge divulged, Alexander continues with his tent.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
The ex-bandit had woken up during the ride over, after a chat with Carslan the two seem to have come to some kind of agreement about his future and he has been left somewhat to his own devices. He approaches Alexander, looking faintly sheepish about talking to the man who caved in his rib cage the day before. "You want a hand with the horse? He's kind of fussy and there's things you gotta do to make him behave right."

When it reaches Alexander's watch that night, his vigil is disturbed by a set of floating green and purple lightly drifting lazily a short way beyond the treeline in an almost hypnotic pattern. It's impossible to make out what it is without leaving your little clearing and investigating the treeline.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
Alexander is equally surprised that the bandit decided to approach him over anyone in the group. He had hardly done much to present himself as the "nice guy" in the group... Having almost killed him, then threatening to drown anyone who is caught doing banditry again... Maybe he had come on a bit strong.

"Errr. Thanks. I don't do riding so a bit of help wouldn't hurt." He says, still putting up the tent. "Just give me a few minutes to finish this off and I'll be right with ya."

----
Later that night

Alexander notices the lights in the forest and gets up, hand going to his inside pocket where he keeps his throwing weapons. He tries to remember if he knows anything about this kind of circumstance.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
After Alexander responds by not crushing the man's ribcage with an anchor the bandit visibly relaxes, suddenly seeming to be completely at ease around the currently landlocked captain. He gives Alexander a few pointers about this horses particular eccentricities, although it feels more like he's doing it for the horse's well being rather than Alexander's comfort. At some point during the conversation the bandit introduces himself as Feodore.

---

That night, Alexander's extensive knowledge of the kind of threats that you find in the woods served him well. Many only knew of the beasts that stalked the trees, bears, wolves and other more exotic monsters but few knew of the fey. Capricious, magical and tricksters by nature, they come in all shapes an sizes and can be anything from pests, to allies, to deceitful blood drinking monsters.

This isn't necessarily fey of course, but when there are magical shenanigans afoot in the forest then it's probably fey. Either that or there is a man with a set of unusual lanterns hiding just out of sight.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
"Well then. I'll try and keep all that in mind. Just got to take good care of it and it'll take good care of me." Alexander shakes the mans hand when he introduces himself. "Alexander. Former Captain Alexander Tabler. I ain't a bad man. I'm just someone who likes people following the rules."

------
Alexander raises his voice towards the source of the lights, hoping to communicate with the creature in the forest.

"Whoever or whatever you are. If you're friendly to me and my friends here you can do your business in the open. I ain't coming running in there after fairy lights."

Alexander pulls out one of his throwing spears and holds it close, keeping his eyes on the lights.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
There's something of stalemate as the lights continue to flicker beyond the trees tauntingly, not varying their behavior at all. After about a minute the lights fade and there is the sound of high pitched giggling from the trees. When Alexander turned around he would find his bag open and his things spread around the camp in a circle, along with an open ration parcel, now filled with only crumbs in the middle.

Chapter 1: Stolen Lands - En-route to the Bandit Camp
Alexander surveys the scene with annoyance, realising he'd been fooled the wrong way with the distraction.

"Bloody pixie fairies" He mutters to himself before sitting back down. He spends the next fifteen minutes staring in the same place just to be sure there are no fairy attacks coming before widening his watch again.
