Broken Fate Reforged staring Magnus

Your first day off and the rain has been on and off all day, right now nature is playing with the idea of yet another sprinkle. Under the various canopies and store signs the rain is just missing you, as you try to remember why you came. It was definitely important, what ever it was. Ahead you see a scrawny man talking to a tall if average woman. As you get closer they seem to be arguing about something, she has something in her purse apparently. Suddenly the man jerks the woman’s purse away and starts running in your general direction, his eyes remain focused on the woman as he runs. The poor slob’s first clue that he fucked up is the sudden stop that hits around his hip area followed quickly by the blow to the back of his head. His response could only be called impressive in the idea that he and his scrawny ass are still conscious at this point, before you have the chance to trip him and lock his arm he throws the  purse in your face and moves out of your reach with the speed of a shadow dodging the morning sun. He does not stay to fight or try to retake the purse he only runs at a speed that would make Usain Bolt proud.

Regardless, of whether or not you planed on chasing him the lady catches up to you and picks up her purse and places a hand on your shoulder. Her voice is almost like honey, pure southern bell if it wasn’t for the fact that it feels somehow rehearsed, “Oh thank you, I thought I'd never catch that thief.” Before you can respond in any way she leans over and kisses you on the cheek. As you stand there processing what just happened she begins to almost skip away like a little girl, after a foot or two she throws one hand up in the air like she is waving goodbye and something shoots out of her palm, what ever it was it hits the supports on the sign above you….

Your eyes open to a cold if dry wind, sand dancing on your cheek where no more than a moment earlier you were kissed by the “southern bell”. The sky is a greenish blue, and as you sit up you can see the sand is a muted beige, almost more grey than should be natural and the few plants you can see are some kind of lightish blue. Scattered about with all of the weird and unfamiliar is some very familiar items, a duffle bag, a hatchet, gun….From every item you can… feel something emanating, like you just know where every bit of it is… And sure enough in every spot you get that feeling you find something that you can recognize as yours. Deep down you feel something else coursing through you, not just your veins but in your bones and flesh. What ever it is you can feel that something very significant has changed about your nature…..

My brain can only respond with Huh. I should be dead now. I think the sign fell on me and... how am I here? What is this feeling?

This doesn't look like any hell I heard of.

I'll gather my things into my duffle bag, put on my leather Jacket and Gloves, and Look around.

Is there any significant land marks That I can see from this position?

Off in the distance you hear some yelling and some loud kind of commotion. It seems to be coming from just beyond a ridge of some sort just a few yards to your left.

You soon see that blending in isn't necessary at the moment, as all attention is on the road at the bottom of the ridge. A pair are pointing guns at two girls in a small transport. The girls are in work gear complete with boots, gloves and goggles. The two with the guns are wearing leathers and bandanas that cover just about every part of them. However immediately below you, is an irritating sound of someone sawing logs. If you lean over to get a better look you see a third man dressed just like the pair down on the road, he is leaning against a wall of a 5 by 9 chamber in the stone that has been carved out expressly for hiding and watching the road.  His sniper rifle old and battered like it was made of spare parts sits on the wall next to him.

In case it matters the chamber is tall enough for you to comfortably stand.

I'll pull out my Glock 17 and the three magazines of ammo that I have. I'll load one into the glock. then i'll lie on my belly on top of the ridge to give myself cover from the bandits. I'll take aim at one on the road. I take a breath or two to calm my nerves and and void my though so that I can focus. Then I'll fire at his center of mass.

OOC: I'll take a Full action to aim and then do a Standard Attack on the next turn.

hmm... I should probably fire again after we resolve the attack. since he still have a half action left.

And then I'll shoot the guy below me. Again aiming for center of mass against him.  My gun no more that a few feet away from him. I'll fire when it is visible lined up with him.

As your first shot flies through the air the bandits jump a little. They aren't quite in unison, especially as bandit 2 (the one you shot) is interrupted by a severe pain in his chest. The sleeping sniper nearly hits his head just in time to get his very own bullet hole. They both wrack in pain for a moment before readying their weapons.

All this happens while the one by the vehicle fails to notice his apparent underlings distress, "Yo, Johny what the h-" before he is able to finish one of the girls kicks him in the lower regions and they both speed away. Upon his recovery he waste a few moments yelling down the road at the girls before realizing that Johny didn't fire those shots and they are under attack. "What you fools waitin' for SHOOT HIM!"

The heavily wounded bandit yelps and whines. "It's a pro, boss I toldz ya them Rainwell-ers would git tired o' o'r shit! Now theyz sent a pro ta kill us!" The boss moves for his underling under his own cover fire to give him a swift kick. "Stop yer whining and FIGHT!" Completely demoralized bandit 2 chooses to run for cover where you soon hear a revving sound. "YOU DAMN COWARD!" Bandit 2 zooms off on a one man bike. If you manage to get a look at the remaining bandits they look more than a little demoralized themselves possibly only needing a little extra push to flee themselves. With Johny (bandit 3) trying to scoot on by below you so he can try to run himself.

Bandit cover fire attack 1 is a 13, Attack 2 is a 23 but rolls a body shot so miss by cover.

You can practically hear them shitting bricks, as they go running for the last bike. Johny tripping over and tumbling down hill in a complete panic and only just managing to catch the back of his bosses bike. The two can be heard speeding away in the same direction as bandit 2. (Just to be clear that is the opposite direction of the girls) As silence falls on the scene a strange darkness sweeps the area...

Suddenly you are surrounded by a haze with an unnatural grey-blue tint, within it something materializes. Before you is a strange creature, it is around 4 feet tall, is somewhere between a scarecrow or a puppet, made entirely out of sacks and fabric loosely sown together to serve as a body with joints.  Some of the sticking seems to be just for detail like the eyebrows. Any location that seems to have holes leads to a strange kind of darkness, a total absence of light. As though light bends around the ’substance’ rather than pierce it, giving its outline in these locations a strange glow. Its eyes and mouth are two such locations.

The creature speaks in a somewhat childish voice. “You like Mentat,” The name draws out before continuing. “but not, you young. You play nice?” As he speaks he raises an ‘eyebrow’ switching from one being raised to the other and with the last sentence his voice raises an octave as if hopeful of the answer.

Mentat Verser, you verser too.  But Mentat no play nice, make Pan MAD, make Pan Mom MAD too, it okay Pan Mom slap him good. He get better though, you always do.” The last part is clearly in reference to you as he vaguely gestures in your direction.

As Pan described, your brain feels like it is going through a straw, in addition you are more or less aware of what information he gleams from you. Almost every memory has one of three common threads: Programing, Discipline, and HOT BLOODED SHŌNEN ACTION! It only takes a moment for the feeling to go away, and no memories seem to be missing, maybe just a little out of order.

Upon sampling your memories Pan starts to jerk around like a puppet being controlled by a small child. “Paaaannnn, Pan now know what cAAAAffee feel like.“ The tassels at the end of his sleeves seem to pass for his fingers as they unnaturally bend into forced curves with his words. It takes a moment for Pan to calm down, but when he does he finishes explaining. "Verser like Game character, but every time verser die they spawn in new world, never really changing. New world can have any old rule changed, home had no magic, here lots of magic, next hate magic. Get idea." He waves the tassels in almost a dismissive fashion at the end and tensises up as he continues. "Mentat!" He says with some distain. "Mentat, no matter he gone. Gafror State, they here they hurt Pan pets and Pan Mom. They get too big, time to slap. Happens lot. One pet or group of pets get big harms other pets, ultimately harm Pan Mom. Pan Mom tell Pan, stop pet or take away, so Pan stop, new friend helps Pan stop. Still better than last one though, they also hurt Pan Friends."

When you walk up to the air lock a radio crackles to life next to the door. An old mans voice almost inebriated or perhaps having suffered from a seizure in the past. "'Hu iz et? S'ate yer busnezz?" Over the intercom a small camera's cover slides off. "Ye don' luk like a miner and ye don' liv' yere." The voice turns dark and vindictive. "Ye net anoder un' o' dem mill~itary blokes ARE YE?! On the other side you hear something make contact with the speakers head. "OW!" and a mostly indistinctive conversation soon followed by a supposedly younger but defiantly sweeter disposition. "Shew, shew you'll not make anything better screening people like that honestly, what am I to do with you. Sorry 'bout that sweety, Gramp Grump is dealing with some personal issues right now. Don't take it personally. Now you seem like a nice enough lad, but he did have some points. As you start describing Pan the voice cuts you off rather quickly and with a slightly panicked tone. It starts quietly and gets louder and more panicked "Stop stop STOP STOP!" They calm down with a sharp inhalation and move into a whisper. "I don't know what the *clears throat* spirit did to you but apparently you have forgoten that worship or even mention of it, is ileagal." Behind you, you hear a car pull up.

The driver walks up to the radio not really seeming to care that you're ahead of her in line. "Seth and Echo reporting home, had another incident with the roadside boys. Nothing stolen, someone was kind enough to open fire on their asses." She sounds rather pleased about the last part. As the driver reports in the other girl rolls a dolly full of tools out of the vehicle and up to the door. After a moment of silence "Okay,... Opening locks please stand by...That means you too sir." A noise akin to a truck backing up accompanies the doors moving open. The girls walk inside and wait.

If you take too long to walk in they turn back to you with irritation. The doors remain open until you are safely inside.

Once the doors are closed a new buzzer sounds, and the girls stand in a pose that spreads their arms and legs out so the vapor filling the room can reach. After the vapor dissipates the doors open and you are all free to enter the town. Inside the town is solum despite the lush conditions within. Several groups of people stand on either side of the main street heads down in morning as a short casket is moved by. Seth and Echo go to join the group leaving the tools beside the gate they give hugs and words of quiet condolences to people in the crowd.

"He might not have been Gramp Grump's own kin but I know he cared about him all the same." States a man with a flowery disposition. "Officer Nikads shot the lad when he interfered with a strong arm tactic ta get some locals to sign their land over to the State. Once the funeral is over go talk to.." he looks over the crowd to point out a chubby man with a equity round beard. "Mayor Marks will set you up with a place to stay tonight. If he does give you trouble tell him that Flancy Joe will vouge for you. Where have my manners gone today honestly I'm Joe... One of five so everyone knows me as Flancy Joe. Just remember everyones on edge so best behavior ...and don't mention" He flairs out his fingers and mouths Pan. He gives you a masculine curtsy if such a thing exist and returns to his post.

What do the Girls look like now that I am close enough to get a good look at them. About how tall are they and what kind of build do they have?

I'll frown at the mention of a kid being shot by a government officer.
I'll force myself to calm down.
I'll reply to Flancy Joe
"Ok. I'll wait. Thanks for letting me in. I'm called Eli. If there is another Eli in town I can go by Magnus... Why is your name Flancy Joe as opposed to Fancy Joe. As I said I'm really new here."

I'll go up to the casket and take a look at the kid.
I'll wait for the Funeral to end before going to talk to Mayor Marks.

To be honest I let you in because I figure that you survived a crash landing, *THAT*” he clears his throat in an attempt to elude to Pan. “Is said to have a strange love for survivors of crashes.” He shrugs. “Crazy things happen though and I know better than unravel any thing to do with *IT*. Folks that clame to see him aren’t always right in the head, for someone who had a run in you don’t seem too bad. Who is to say what happened and if a trick hasn’t been played at your expense. …Besides We let Grump in and he was an ass when he petitioned.” He wraps the statement up with a chuckle.

Well lets see,” He puts a hand up to his lips as he thinks. “I think there are at least two Elis in town.” He drums with a pair of fingers to emphasize the statement. “
So Magnus it is then.

I don’t know about where you’re from Magnus, but ‘round here ‘Fancy’ is a way of saying someone is gay. I was, for a short time, called Fancy Joe, until everyone realized I did’t actually swing that way. So instead they took my flowery disposition as people called it and mixed the two together, and now I am forever Flancy Joe. I will admit I do like being Flacny.” He accompanies the last work with a dramatic hand movement and head gesture.

When you approach the casket Seth and Echo are standing beside it whispering their goodbyes so quiet none but the deceased could tell you what they said. Seth’s honey blonde hair drapes over her jade eyes obscuring her tears from sight. Her light tan skin at least two shades lighter than any of the townsfolk most days, is even paler with grief. Much like Seth, Echo’s skin is far paler than the rest of the town to the point that she may in-fact be an albino. The sheer body of her pink dyed hair prevents it from shielding her gray blue eyes as the tears make small rivers down her face. After a moment they walk away leaning on each others shoulders. The boy somewhere in his early adolescence had the same deep tan like most of the town and jet black hair. His body is surrounded with various alien flowers including a small bouquet his hands are holding on his chest. While paying  your respects you get a faint detection of something akin to Pan, after a moment you see it, a smooth black stone attached to the boys belt. The stone is heavily damaged though, it appears it was struck with something small at high speed.

Come on Gramp, you didn’t honestly think nothing would happen to you after all the shit you’ve said.

Nikads, would like to give you his personal condolences.

I'll walk up to the officers. Thunderclouds of righteous anger forming around me. I walk up behind one of the officers. "I can't let let you do that."

The crowd's confusion at to what to do is quickly replaced with the aura surrounding you. As you begin your attack on the officers the crowd surrounds them in a wide circle the glare in their collective eyes says "they'll not escape." The officer you punched reels from the blows to the head for a moment before both Officers reach for their pistols, only to have them snatched by a 7ft tall Man-dragon who you have somehow failed to notice up till this point. "Surely, military folk such as your selves don't need these for such rabble." The voice is gravel and somehow mockingly cold. The pair exchange a look of concern but waste no further time as they try to coordinate their attacks. "Punching bag" attempts to move behind you for a grab while his friend tries to draw your attention by giving an aggressive frontal assault.

Officer 2      10/10

As the appointed Punching bag falls you can hear the towns folk remove him from the circle. Looking at your remaining opponent the fear in his eyes is apparent, his breathing increases heavily to what may be considered unsafe levels. With your eyes locked his gaze narrows almost like he is in a trance, he takes one step forward and lets loose a new volley of attacks. Something is different about this attack compared to the last both punches are more competent and fueled by desperation. He makes two swings for your head.

Punching bag is down for the count

adrenaline rush - Racial
The individual must be desperate.
roll D4 on 4 get  +lv bonus to a combat skill for 1D4 rounds
He rolled a 1 on # of rounds

He goes through the round at brawl 2, but looses it on his next turn.

Uses All Out Attack so +2k0 to rolls.

Attack 1 rolled a 27
Attack 2 rolled a 21

Damage 1 rolled 19
Damage 2 rolled 14

after all is said and done Att1= 3 and Att2 =2 but only if you don’t dodge or parry.

I wasn’t expecting the dice roller to like him so much at one time.

As the first punch comes in I'll shift to a more boxer like front stance. I note a decent sized rock on the ground next to my foot. So I kick it forward, right into the guys footing. Messing up his first punch enough to allow me to deflect it easily to the side with my forarm.

I expected him to stop there because more would leave him wide open.
But he steped forward and punched me again anyway. So I lowered my skull to take it on the forhead. Still hurt. But now he is wide open.

A left jap plows into his unprotected face. Causing him to stumble back on to that rock I put into his path. Messing up his footing even more. Allowing me to launch a right cross into this bastard's face.

OOC:
10:41, Today: Magnus rolled 32 using 6d10, keeping the 3 highest rolls, rerolling max with rolls of 7,1,(10+7)17,8,4,2.  Unarmed Parry.

My Static defence is 17 +(32/2)= 33

So I parry the first hit and take the second one on the skull for 2 wounds and 1 fatigue.

10:45, Today: Magnus rolled 19 using 5d10, keeping the 3 highest rolls, rerolling max with rolls of 7,3,2,4,8.  Jab.

Since he can't use reactions, I hit

10:46, Today: Magnus rolled 14 using 4d10, keeping the 2 highest rolls, rerolling max with rolls of 9,2,5,4.  Jab damage .

10:48, Today: Magnus rolled 16 using 5d10, keeping the 3 highest rolls, rerolling max with rolls of 5,4,3,7,1.  Cross punch.

Again I hit because of the lack of reactions.

10:49, Today: Magnus rolled 28 using 4d10, keeping the 2 highest rolls, rerolling max with rolls of 9,3,5,(10+9)19.  Cross punch damage.

The officer takes a moment to regain his footing and pants heavily. Whatever it was that caused him to fight better, faded quickly from his eyes. He still puts in his full desperate effort into his next and perhaps final two attacks.

*As he punches, you move to the side and parry with your hand. Then grap his wrist, locking his elbow in an extended position. Then you swing around Slaming your elbow into his. Hyperextending it and overwelming him with pain.

He collapses and falls to the ground. Unfortainatly for him. You're still too pissed to think rationally. So you curb stomp his skull and bust it like an overripe melon.*

*Thank You for submitting your stunt*

He took 3 fatigue, 2 from your attacks and 1 from his feat last round. Oh and at 0 HP before the addition of your action.

Attack 1 = 18

Attack 2 = 3

Damage = 9/4 = 2 damage if you don't parry.

With your action his arm is broken, which he really doesn't care about seeing as he is dead.

When or if you look through the crowd you notice that all children that were perviously present are gone, moved away by some of the other missing townsfolk so they wouldn't have to see all that, Echo is also missing. A few of the townsfolk are coming to grips with what they just participated in while others are already busy cleaning up the remains of the incident. The dragon man lifts both bodies with ease and a pair of crippled men clean up the smaller parts that wouldn't stay with the bodies. After the area is thoroughly picked for flesh and the like, they expertly remove any remaining signs of struggle.

After you have a moment to gather your thoughts Mayor Marks tentatively makes his way over to you. "W-Well that - that happened...Mr? "

I calm down and realize that I literally beat a man to death because I was angry at what he was doing.

I sit down and think about what I did and why. I was angry that they where oppressing that old man. And then I used my Martial Arts to beat them to death... I guess that was defending people...

Then the mayor speaks to me.

"... Call me Magnus. Apparently you already have two Eli's in town.

Well I was going to ask to live in your town. But I guess I ruined that for myself now. I saw them hurting your people and i just had to stop them..."

He puts his hands up in kind of a gesture telling you to relax and hold that thought. "It would be better to address this in the underground bunker. Echo will have to turn the State's security back on soon. Luckily it isn't a live feed so she should be able to doctor it quite easily." He straightens up his fancy tie and gestures that you follow him as he goes into what you can only assume is the town hall. "She's usually rather cross about fixing on such short notice, but I think I speak for the intire town when I say, "Thank You." Just as he leads you to the very back of the building a noticeable ding comes over the intercoms. "Ten seconds." He rushes you in to what initially looks to be a bathroom. He leans towards you and whispers."Thankfully, even the State has some level of decency left, at least as far as our town is concerned...and as far as we can tell." He snorts, and calls out for his secretary. "Nancy cancel my appointments, I've got the bricks again!" He then takes you to the last stall and mouths Elevator.

"Sir, Please stop telling me. I know more about your bowl movements than I do homeworld fasion these days." As the secretary responds the ends of the stall extend so they meet the roof and floor. And the Elevator moves down at least a mile or more. Finally Opening to an underground bunker which despite its local is very inviting and comfortable.

"We can talk freely down here. We have been very careful that the state never find this location. Mr. Magnus, as I said above we all really appreciate what you did. Sadly our ability to put up any kind of fight is limited, with the exception of Sagrax, who refuses to fight for cultural concerns and yourself there is no one in town capable of it. We are all either too old, too young, or too important to the community to risk what you just did for us." He rubs the back of his neck and plops down on one of the two large comfy chairs. "As a stranger no less. Which only makes what I'm about to ask all the more...awkward. As I've said most of us can't fight. So we would need some help...to join the rebellion. We can send them supplies but we'd have no way to protect it. And we would need someone to deliver it. As we can't risk being directly tied to the rebellion we would have to ship it with our next delivery to the city of GlassCliffs." He looks down and takes a sharp breath before looking back up at you. "You are a stranger who came to our aid, could we ask this of you? To help us once more? We are not asking that you join the rebellion we would even be happy to have a stong young man such as yourself live here...but"  He looks down again. "Your probobly tired, and I'd hate for you to make such a decision hastily, you may stay here tonight...Regardless of your choise. And you are free to all the food stored here. If you need to speak to me before I return tomorrow, there is a blue button that signals my personal com. I'll come as soon as I can, so please be patient."

Compendium of Intergalactic species
Inside some of the pages seem to have been doctored with sticky notes. noted a *context*

Rȏc’rend:

Homeplanet: Rȏc’rim *Hostile does not begin to describe it.*

Humans have often described them as bipedal: dragons, lizards, or dinosaurs. They often have rounded boxy structures making up their faces and and feather patch growths akin to human hair. They are almost always muscular through most of their lives with the exception of old age when the males and females go through massive muscle loss and a significant sexual dimorphism called Hunch’Rȏc for males and Slim’Rȏc for females.

* A Rȏc’rend is not considered an adult until the first of their three horns has grown in usually the one over the snout.

* Hunch’Rȏc become one of the toughest organisms in the galaxy and often subject themselves to being punching bags for their hatchlings. The proudest moment and death for a Hunch’Rȏc is said to be when one of their children manage to beat them to death. *Never wait for a Hunch’Rȏc, they are also known to be one of the slowest creatures in the galaxy.*

* In opposition to their male counterparts the Slim’Rȏc, become very fragile but retain a more than respectable top speed averaging 45mps and current record of 60. They split their time between keeping records, caring for hatchlings, and serving as advisors. *If you are not a Slim’Rȏc do not try to keep up with one they may be fragile but you are the one who will die.*

youth                    birth -20
adalecence          21-50
adult                    First horn comes in ends when they fall out
Old age                     looses all three horns until death/101-150 *It does not matter how they loose their horns. The cruelest thing you can do to a young adult is break all three, before they have a family and watch them age over the course of the next week.*

Zwqua:

Homeplanet: Lek-qua *Water looks nice but don’t drink it, an entire civilization lives in it.*

These Amphibious beings have a life cycle akin to frogs, though they more resemble fish in appearance and around the age of 5 they can walk and breath on land. Their ears are formed from specialized fins and although they breath air just as easily as water they have very prominent gills starting on the cheeks and ending just before the shoulders.

They  have the strangest teeth of all sentient species they only have a third of their teeth visible in their tri-jointed jaws the rest are in their esophagus.

**What they don’t tell you is that the real important feature is the eyes. There are two varieties slits and wides. Wide have them on the sides of their heads and make up 70% of their race, the observant may note that when a part of a population out numbers the rest by a lot there are more than a few tensions. Humans prefer dealing with slits as they look less weird which is why you will see a lot more slits in human territory than not.*

*Oh and you haven’t lived until you tasted their cooking.*

Humans *you know what these are so I’m skipping it.*

65% galaxy

Wyvet

Homeplanet: Gus-Tok *Cold, very cold, frigid in-fact; you know what, just set yourself on fire you may just stay warm enough not to freeze. Just kidding of course you’ll freeze.*

From a distance one could mistake these beings for avian, but they have no wings for flying at most they can glide with the extra mass on their arms. *How are they not wings?* And they have no feathers instead they are covered with short *SOFT AS HELL* thick and efficient fur. They have pointed ears covered in a thiner fur as not to disrupt sounds and usually possess sharp beaks and forward facing eyes.

*They are widely considered the best shots and pilots in the galaxy, which many attribute to their superior eyesight. *Don’t forget they own your jobs, just saying relevancy.*

Kinsok

Homeplanet: Xos *This place looks a lot like an exoskeleton of a beetle from a distance and it should be mentioned everything lives under the surface. Don’t visit without a wish to die by radiation. or get under the surface using an anti-rad tank*

On the surface most may think the walking talking Exoskeleton is actually what the Kinsok looks like. And while the slender beetle like four armed biped is rather prominent in their culture it is not in-fact a natural exterior to the Kinsok. Whose entire body fits into the head and neck region. Their eyes are the only thing you are likely to ever see as they prefer to at least see the world with there own eyes. They are in-fact insectoid in build and have the fleshy consistency of an octopus.*If you want to get on one’s good side compliment their exo suit, they take pride in making the suits themselves and it is in-fact a right of passage to make your first exo. Even if it is a box model it is rare for one not to improve the hard or software so the handling or effectiveness may also work. In or out of the suit though they are masters of tech.*

Common History of the Red Tail *Hawk* Galaxy

*I assume, because it looks nothing like a fish. While we’re at it why did it get named for an Earthen creature?*

Bullet points Sssssoooo many bullet points.

*Gafror State is the third interplanetary government in a thousand years.

*The first, longest running and oldest *About 1999 years running. :< and on the eve of its 2000th anniversary too.* was the Tur-o-shin Dictator ship. *MAG~ICAL TYRAN~NY*

*All that currently remains of records is the high death rate, a few journals from various levels of society, the first multi racial government implemented, and the fact that it was a Dictator mage and his magical tribunal. All other records were destroyed in various events, some related to their overthrow and some not.

* Ufror Ministry started as a religious movement claiming that magic users were all evil. *Given who their predictors were it was often hard to argue.* They required all mages to register sometimes plucking out eyes and tongues of mages or as was often the case just killing them or using them as living slave batteries.* TYRAN~NY OF MAG~IC*

* approximately lasted 500 years

*Gafror State is 200 years old, The leader was originally apart of the ministry until his eldest was revealed to be a mage. After the they were denied permission to cover up the kids magic, his wife died and he fled the capital planet. *It is unclear in what order these events occurred and there is much speculation if she even actually died or if it was used to help justify his quest to over throw the ministry.*

*The State gave mages rights but also required them to keep a registry both of their existence and of all spells they know. Some spells are classified as too dangerous for public safety and any that do know them are required to at minimum be on retainer for the military. *This has changed all mages are on retainer. And even the ones that own shops are monitored heavily.*

*Tyranny with magic, somehow it lost its zing*

Some planets also have their history recorded here:

Moluva designation: mining world. Originally uninhabitable it is the first planet to have used “Bubble Towns” to change the environment. The “bubble” is a special substance that allows some of the air developed and cultivated out, to slowly change the atmosphere. *Hello Rainwell, how did it feel to be third out of bata. I guess being one of the biggest should count for something after all you’re one of the reasons that some miners don’t answer to the state. Rainwell’s main exports of food, water and air, certainly makes it a lot harder to keep those miners in line.*

*As always the way you tell if one of these has gone bad is if Pan worship is banned, because they remember and get very nervous when it takes an upswing.*

I'll reply to the Mayor
"Thank you Mayor.  I guess I'll go ahead and read the books."

I'll read the books on the computer.
Interesting,  there are multiple non human sapient species here. And space travel seems common... The government I'm going to oppose is interplanetary...

I'll go ahead and find something to eat and read the instructions on how to prepare it. Prepare it then eat it.

You have a lovely selection. Most of the food is one of three things: Kep-Mok as best as you can tell is some kind of noodles, Iguin which the picture displays as some kind of four legged bird with an armadillo like shell along its back, or Racht which claims to be a Zwqua gourmet, apparently some kind of alien octofish.

Regardless of which you choose they taste good if a little strange.

The next morning you have a visitor Echo. She sounds tired and distant as she speaks, but perhaps this is how she normally is. "I'm just here to show you the secret exit. Marks also wanted me to let you know, we removed the footage of you entering town before it could be sent. So when you comeback you should say that your looking for work and act like you've never been here before. To avoid suspicion or something." She speaks as she leads you to a hidden trap door and opens it. Under the bunker is a large tunnel, in-fact you can't even safely reach the floor without a ladder which she unravels for you. "Oh, and there were a few other things, its a long walk back so take some water, watch out for Rittles, and follow the right wall so you don't get lost."

Rittles were described in a third book that I didn't bother writing. But you know they are similar to earth boars, live alone unless they have a litter, are vary taritorial and have a double split jaw.

At the bottom of the shaft you get an eyeful of a large skeleton with small eye sockets and large forepaws with equally big, rounded claws. Babak- suberanian creature herbivore basicly giant mole. The tunnel is almost pitch black with the trapdoor shut, the closest thing to light is some sparse luminescent moss. Which isn't nearly enough to see with, it could be noted though that along with the skeleton that there is also decidedly no moss directly under the trapdoor. You manage to find the right side of the tunnel and follow it without incident. You eventually reach the surface as best as you can figure you're about four miles from Rainwell and can just make it out in the distance.

As you walk along the path about a mile or two from your destination, you hear a loud SNORT accompanied by the pounding of a hoof. Seconds latter a creature that looks somewhat like a boar with the exception that it has a mane going around its neck and teeth along its face in a t shape, runs ahead of you spinning its head like a punk rocker. And then it proceeds to roar at you while stomping its feet for good measure.

After the decontamination, Gramp Grump initially seems to be glaring at you as you pass, but his eyes betray his grimace with a strong presence of respect. The town is mostly quiet, regular work is happening in the fields and the closest thing to bustle is goods being gathered into a pile and marked off. “ If yer surius abut work s’eak ta de Mayor. If your serious about work speak to the Mayor. He gestures over to the group doing the piling.

Mayor Marks is standing off to the side calling out what is presumably produce “ Rittle Ripe… Pensop… Kar…” As he list them off someone is confirming their presence. After the produce is done they switch to decidedly non produce. "Oxagin tanks...Seeds..." As you approach he looks up and stares at you and adds something to the list. "Security...You're an awfully big fellow, interested in some work?" His gaze falls on the Rittle corpse you have on hand. "I don't see any weapon marks on it, what did you kill it with?"

"Sargrax should be tending the east fields, can’t miss him. He’s the only Rȏc’rend in town.” He pauses a moment as a look of heavy concentration covers his face, he seems to be considering something all the while tapping rapidly on the side of his clipboard.

You remember when I mentioned that the one in town able, was unwillin’? Sargrax, … I’d hate to task you with something like this, but could you try talking him into going as well?” He seems self-conscious about the request even as he finishes it like he is worried it could be taken the wrong way. “We Love having him here, and he is a strong part of the community even when he is trying to be distant. He’ll always have a place in RainWell even when he has gone Hunch’Rȏc. …But a warrior can never really be happy tending to crops. I-We would like you to try and convince him to return to his passion. Several of us have tried but we aren’t fighters, maybe you, will have better luck. Don’t worry about it if you don’t feel comfortable bringing it up…. Either way I’m sure he’d be happy to teach you Ki usage.

One of the men who had been piling up goods returns and offers a sum for the Rittle, and though you aren’t familiar with the currency it seems to be a fair amount. You accept the amount (confirmed on Discord) and he carries it away doing his best not to drag it and clearly struggling.

W-well he’s afraid to lose his” as the Mayor speaks he is making a gesture of horns coming off his head. “You know what you’ll figure it out when you see h’m.

As the mayor said, Sargrax is hard to miss even hunched over his 7ft form towers over even the tallest of the crops. His Draconic scales are a deep red and from a distance he looks to only have one or two horns. As you approach however, you can see that all three horns have grown in, but his left horn was broken about half way and his right horn has a series of thin cracks perhaps superficial, perhaps not. His eyes are inset deep in his head which causes shadows over the nearly glowing amber irises. His jaw has an overbite that host a pair of tusk/canine which point up, hanging from his chin and spanning to the back of his jaw is a bright blue feather beard which matches his mane both in color and in style.(namely that both are long but well kept.)

Sorry about the size.

He takes a quick glance at you and stands up. His voice is still the same gravel it was yesterday with the exception of being warmer now. “Hmm, Are you sure you’re a Ki user? Eh I suppose it doesn’t matter, good excuse to stretch.” He rolls his neck around like he is trying to stretch or pop it, and gestures for you to follow him to a recently harvested field.

Rittle Ripe requires roughing up to release its seeds so we don’t need to worry about any damages.

He begins a very primal kata focusing on his horns, claws, other hard points. And while you can’t identify the actual Martial Art your understanding of various styles allows you some insight into the physical philosophies of it. He ends the kata with his hands together and gesturing to pull out his aura. His aura is on the warm end of the spectrum flowing from red to orange and yellow. No matter what color, it seems to be desaturated.

No gestures are really required, they simply assist the mind, body and soul to draw on Ki. True masters or those who are naturally gifted simply do it with intent. Do you practice the martial arts? Katas regardless of style do help to learn if nothing else. As for wether or not you are actually capable of using Ki is another story.” He then gestures that you try a kata. “Rendering Ki is the purest form of channeling yourself that is why the arts are a natural source to draw on. They focus the whole.

I walk to the center of the field as instructed.

"Where I came from, We didn't have Ki Users. So this is all rather new to me. So I have a lot of questions. Like How does one gather Ki in the first place? Does one just breath in a special way or does one need to meditate?

I guess I'll go ahead with a kata to see if I get a reaction with my ki."

I'll shift to jung ji, the ready stance that is the start of almost all the katas within my style. I'll breath in and out a few times to calm my mind and still my thoughts.

I'll start with the most basic form in the Traditional Katas. Chon-Ji, Translated to Heaven and Earth. It consists of 19 moves that include basic blocks and punches. Along with three kiai's

As I end on the final Kiai. I will try to Pull out my own Aura that burns with the color of my nature.

After a moment to see if it works I will continue with the next kata I remember. It's been a while so most of my kata's have faded from my memory but I remember the next one.
Dan-gun. Named after the founder of the first Kindom in Korea. It has 21 moves that are a bit more elaborate than Chon-Ji. With more variation to the blocks and the types of hand strikes. There are just 2 Kiai's with this kata. As I return to My Ready stance after the final Kiai. I relax and simply let my nature shine through.

As you go through your katas you feel like a rusted piston is resisting you. At first it seems to push against your efforts, but you feel your spirit start to over power the blockage until finally like a dam coming apart it burst the seams and lets molten power flow unimpeded. At first this power simply fills your being, muscles contract with unprecedented strength, bones and injuries of old and new correct themselves. Even your eyes attempt to harness the energy to correct your vision, this last part however reverts to its original state. This however is almost certainly overshadowed by the tiny but very visible puff of energy, what one might call a (somewhat pathetic) Hadouken.

Despite his reptilian appearance Sargrax is clearly impressed. “Naturally …Gifted it is. Even some masters have trouble with producing a Ki Strike.” After a long pause where his surprise is still apparent, his features shift to a kind of glee. “If you would allow me to train you, I’d like to see you do that but better.

*After the agreement you both spend the next several hours undergoing drills to improve your aim and agility, while reciting mythical philosophies.***************************
(enter the GM apology skills and feats As agreed in Discord)

As dusk claims the sky you see the fruit of your hard days labor, from the edge of you fist as you preform a final kata a proper well formed Ki Strike erupts. Sargrax offers to let you stay with him for the night and prepares a hearty meal for dinner to replenish and fortify you from the training. He calls it Rā'rŏn, which smells like beef and seems to be somewhere between a fruit and a meat which has grilled and seasoned.

The next day the town is abuzz as Echo and Seth direct people to set the delivery just so. Their buggy has been given a strange upgrade a seat on the roof with its own canopy which is apparently where they expect you to sit. As you stand outside waiting to leave Sargrax approches you and hand you a letter addressed to Vrak’Gor and one addressed to you.

The letter looks to be made with old fashioned quill and ink. The hand writing is legible, if a little heavy handed.

Magnus,

It was a pleasure sparing with you the other day, it reminded me of sparing with Master Tow-shafa. Regrettably battle is behind me now.

No doubt the Mayor has already informed you that the true purpose of your hiring is so you can deliver our intent to assist the rebellion, in such a manner that the State is unaware. To do this you will need to make contact with Vrak’Gor, the daughter of a clan very dear to me. She has made a name for herself as a street gladiator. These contest are a recruiting ground for the rebellion and you can guess who she works for.

Wether or not you intend to join the rebellion is your choice, but as a matter of pride you will need to face her. Winning is not the objective, it is a symbolic and spiritual matter for the Rȏc’rend. As I had a hand in training both of you even if only for a short time, the old student must test the master’s will by facing the new student. I will not bore you with the details of why this matters to us. When you meet her you will need to greet her with a challenge.

To do this you will need to take your right arm and beat your left shoulder, with your left arm extended. She will assume the same pose and grasp your hand for a test of wills. I will not mince words, it is a staring contest. She will have to forgive my irreverence for some of our people’s customs. In case you were wondering, this is a prelude to an actual fight in the ring.

If you find you are having problems finding Vrak’Gor try asking locals about the Gatiator, But for the love of Almajara don’t call her that to her face. Unless you wish to experience the Rȏc’rend Hello.

Now that you’re on the ground and close enough to really get a look at it, you see that the Rā'ŏn has a skin texture akin to pineapples and the rhinoceros horn is more like a thorn. However these plantlike similarities are nothing compared to what was coming from the back of its head. What first appeared to be large green plumage from a distance is revealed to be a leaf larger than the rest of its head. Moving on down from the head you get an impression that it could be bipedal, which would allow it to use its powerful forelimbs and digging claws for more sustained fighting if need be.

Seth makes some cuts along the base of the head and limbs and makes an incision along its back creating a hole just big enough for your hands to slip in and returns the knife. “Okay I need you to slice the organs out and then remove the head and limbs. Just be careful with the stomach and I'll clean up anything else that goes wrong."

Though the space is tight in the crevice you manage to remove the organs it takes a couple of cuts here and there but soon enough a complete pile of them are at your side. Then comes the more strenuous task of removing the head and limbs. First the girls direct you to slice the flesh down to the bone, where Seth takes hold of the head and has you pull the body twisting the head off the spine and pulling the limbs off in much the same fashion. After words Seth picks out the edible organs from the pile and wraps then in the leaf from it's head. Finally the girls Stuff what they can in the torso and tie what they can't to it, adding it to the provisions in the back.

The rest of the day is uneventful aside from briefly seeing some Rittles fighting over territory and one suddenly falling in a hole that was not there a moment before. Echo assures you the beast is nothing to worry about as it is notoriously afraid of humans and the like. What feels like hours after the sun has set you finally come to a stop at what looks like an abandoned gas station/ garage. Apparently the girls have commandeered it on many occasions on their way to far off areas. And have you go first to help clear it of any squatters. The worst of which is the equivalent of an alien raccoon, which vacates as soon as it sees you.

That night Seth cooks the Rā'ŏn and you recognize the dish almost immediately and the three of you take turns on watch. First is yours, as it comes to an end you are relived by Seth and fall asleep rather quickly.

Your shaken awake by a feeling...of falling... SMACK and a bounce on the ground far beneath the surface. The near pitch blackness is oppressive but just as you start to grope in the darkness a very brief/dim orange light bathes the area. It only shows you the outline of any given thing, and comes and goes like rhythmic breathing. But it is just enough to navigate the claustrophobic passage. As you move by some exceptionally jagged rocks you hear a deep voice in the distant echos of the cave. "Tell me Ascended One, what do you call a being that acts without thought?"

After we are done field dressing the Ra'on and are on our way. I'll meditate to clear the jam in my meridians and then reload my spirit gun. That night I am really too shy and nervous to talk to the girls beyond what is needed to set up camp, prepare the food and work out who is doing which watch. I would prefer 1st or 3rd watch. But will accept 2nd.

To keep myself awake through the night. I will examine the runestones that Pan gave me. Comparing the runes on the stone with the runes in the book I have on runes.

I go to sleep for the night and start to dream without being aware I am dreaming.

A fall with a jolt. And take in the surroundings with the strange breathing orange glow.

I decide to head that way. And then hear the question put to The Ascended One. Assuming they are talking to me, I blink and proccess the question accepting that something in the strange glowy cave is talking to me without thinking about it.

I put a finger up to start. Think some more and lower it before starting

"I think that would depend to who you talk to and what are you talking about.

Most people would call such a being an Animal. A Martial Artist would recognize someone that practiced their Technique until it is instinctual. One who practices zen Buddhism would call them a Zen Master."

I smile feeling that is the right answer

Screw it I'll use what I have writen up.

It bellows out in response of your first sentence "Eeee-elllll-liiiii-i, there. is. only. one. in this place......" After your answer the breathing pauses a moment in consideration preventing the light from coming close enough to be useful.  A tone akin to gravel mulls it over. "Hmmmm.....Acceptable." Every syllable draws the light closer again but before you can progress again the narrow passage ahead of you shutters and expands in all directions.

The floor and ceiling both disappear from your sight even when the breath lights up the new chamber. The way is not totally impassible though a path to the right goes around the circumstance of the room with just enough wiggle room so you don't need to hug the wall. This however is not as helpful as it may seem as the only way out is a opening on the far wall that is clearly higher than the path. There is however also a platform just within jumping distance that seams to be suspended by a chain going into the darkness above that passes through its center and goes on eternally down as well.

The breathing also illuminates two more things of interest on the far side of the path, but they cannot be made out from here.

I look confused for a moment. Trying to process how there is only one when there is clearly both him and me here. That is at least two.

I give up on figuring it out and note that there is something over there. Two somethings in fact. And with that my path is set. I leap to the platform in the center of the room. Deliberately not considering the hight or the possible fall. Then I walk over to get a better look at the two things.

As you leap onto the platform you safely land on it, but feel a strange jolt on the center chain coming from above and below. This briefly shakes the platform and you quickly discover that by holding the chain and shoving your body weight you can force the platform to move to the other side.

As you get closer you see the right most thing is a chain coming from the ceiling. But you have to get much closer to actually make out the left most thing, a torch that upon your approach spits out a humanoid with tall ears and what may be a fluffy tail it takes up an aggressive stance and even swings at you if you get too close.

I'd like to remind you that I was planning on going with a no rolls in the dream scape, and I'm trying very hard to stick with it.

As I approach the torch and it spits out a humanoid with fox like ears and tail, I think that they are adorable. So I immediately direct the platform over as fast as I can. But I notice their Aggression towards me. So I stop within easy talking distance of the being.

I say
"Hello. What is your name? My name is Eli. Why are you angry at me?"

How wide is the ledge that they are standing on? What does this being with fox ears and tail look like? About how old do they look? Is the torch still burning or did it go out making them?

The ledge is about 2-3 people wide if they are standing a little over shoulder to shoulder.

Human shaped all facial features are obscured as it is basically made of fire. Eyes are a more intense lighter color to differentiate from the rest and the mouth is the same if it opens it.  *I admit that I don't know it this is how I would have originally discribed him as I lost any notes I did have on it.* If it matters it is clear that it is wearing cloths of some kind, and dispight being made of fire looks solid enough to hit.

The flame faded but still smolders.

"RRrrrrAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaahhhhh!" Is all it can muster as it puffs its chest in a clearly aggressive stance.

You fall for a bit and eventually see a familiar sight namely a ledge exactly like the one you just jumped off of, and your opponent just recovering from his fall. Which goes poorly as you shift your weight so you land on him. While defiantly hurt by that he manages to shove you off of him.

He is attempting to send you over the ledge.

All of that cause me to realize that this is a dream. So as I fly through the air I try to assume Direct Control of the dream. But... You feel a definite shutter go through the place, the orange pulsing light comes back with it. "Ascended One there is only one in this place. As you have realized if it is anything it is you." You start to hear the opening of Guren Lagan's Fight the Power which is immediately interrupted "NO! No, stop we aren't doing that right now." as if obeying the voice command the music immediately stops.

The fox man's torso seems to dissipate momentarily possibly from the blow (your previous landing), maybe from the realization or voice speaking. but once it is again consistent flames it assumes a more boxing stance and shifts very close to you for a 1-2 jab.

While he is close I will try to knee him in the gut then back off.

"Ok. You are connected to my Aggression, Anger or Rage somehow. What happens if I force myself to calm down?"

I deliberately void my mind and not think of anything.  Only defending myself with instinctive parries and dodges.

Fox-man looks frighted and tries to pump its chest when it sees you are still ignoring it, he makes a haymaker swing. In your state of calm you easily dodge. He flickers slightly but your allowance of aggression permits him to keep existing, he does shrink a bit but other ways seems fine. After a moment to adjust to his new size he leaps for your head.

The slide down is faster that you intended but you manage to catch the edge anyway and pull yourself in. As you stand up the previous room dissipates into nothing. You weave and wound through ever smaller corridors every turn seems to increase the frequency of the orange outline/breathing. Finally you come to a blocked corridor, at first all you see is a pair of glowing eyes, but as you approach the figure you see a human face whose size takes up the entire corridor with exception to the very edges which are filled with shadows. It  appears to be male shaggy but smooth hair is mostly obscured in stubborn shadows that refuse to move even for the illuminating breath coming from the face’s flattened aquiline nose.

*Sharp Breath* “Ascended One…“ The words are drawn out, and despite the calm expression of the face the pin prick eyes fixate on you with great intensity.

As for the mind with out power. If the power is comparable to most human then they are just a powerless as everyone.
If the mind has no power to act at all. Then they are effectively imprisoned. And there is very few people that I would wish that fate on.

As you rear back to make your punch the Opal substance assist you, wrapping around your fist and causing you to go fast enough to replicate the hit you envisioned. Enough to force the sphinx to take a step back and stagger him as you fall into the Opal liquid its consistency changes to feel as you imagined it would and you feel the surface underneath change to the roughness you thought would be there.

I imagine countless chains coming out of the opal and binding the Sphinx's wings, legs tail and head. And anchored securely to the rocks walls and floors of the cave. All this while the Sphinx is stunned from my hit earlier. The chains go taunt and the Sphinx is unable to move.

If that works, I will get up and walk in front of the Sphinx.
