"I know how to fly low monsieur," the fake pirate laughed. "But usually when I attempt to do it, I have not just come out of an inverted loop!"
The Swede slapped Kray's shoulder. "Nonsense HQ, your head is always in a loop!"
They joked some more as they wrapped up breakfast, one by one cleaning their trays afterwards. One of the other Russian pilots looked at his watch.
"Seems we should get to our own little baracks. See what they have given us."

Danny arrived in the mess hall, and started searching for VanderBeek, if he was alone he would approach him, if not, he would bide his time and get a muffin & a bagel.

VanderBeek looks up from his conversation as he sees Danny enter. Half a day and the kid was here already? Was he going to give up like the japanese woman?
The Chief Morale officer stood up and approached the young man.
"Master Chambers. What can I do for you?"

He approached VanderBeek confidently, cause he had seen the disappointment on his face, probably assuming Danny was gonna quit, not that easily he wasn't. "Hello, Jan." he said, smiling. "I'm still up for the challenge, but Mikoto seems to be, less eager... I tried talking to her, but she is being childish.. I was wondering if you knew any other civilians on this ship that could help me run this diner?", "or perhaps a list i could find on the system? You know, now that i say it out loud, I could of just asked Marco, eh? Suppose that works... anyway, I need some help, not management wise... but even if I'm opening a single floor, and I plan too, I can't do everything... I need some help"... he said one more thing, "You know, with cooking, and bartending, and other chores like dish-cleaning, and waitering and such..."... he realised how stupid this conversation was, "Never mind, I'll ask Marco, do some research... Just take this as me saying I'm sticking with this offer, and uh... bye. Sorry for interupting you" he said weakly, and smiling sheepishly.. Danny waited a few moments, but left quickly if Jan didnt respond.

"Ah yes, you could have asked Marco. But instead you came to me. Good." VanderBeek nodded, already reaching for his data-pad.
"Lets see, I have some more civilians awake it seems, maybe you can ask them. Unless they are assigned tasks by the military branch ofcourse. Ah, yes, here it is. Colt Jordan, Micaela Nieves, Mike Schmidt, Richard Thornby, Stephen Cornell, Hans Fischer. All civilians, so they might be interested in a job. Go ask them if you like. Beats doing nothing, right?"

Absolutely! Danny said happily, "Thanks so much!" he left, almost racing to the door...

Once he was out he went to his quarters, still repeating those names, he wrote down a copy of Jans list, and then stepped out of his room.

Danny asked Marco the first person on his lists location, Colt Jordan, was?

As soon as he entered the Barracks Mike immediately went about finding Vanderbeek, although since he had no idea what Vanderbeek looked like, he just walked up to the first person he saw and asked politely, "Excuse me, would you happen to know where I could find Mr. Vanderbeek? I was informed that I would find him here."

The dining trooper quickly directs Mike to the man he needs, a dandy fellow behind the counter supervising the kitchen.
After some quick introductions VanderBeek joins Mike at a table, getting both of them a soda.
"So, mr. Schmidt. What can I do for you this afternoon?"

Mike accepted the soda, taking a few sips before speaking. "Well, Captain Dorn directed me to you as the one to talk to as a civilian, so to speak. Seeing as I am one, I decided to come and say hello and see what I could do to help around the ship."

Takes a few more sips, then continues. "Though I just had a nice talk with Mr. Chambers, and decided to help him with what he's doing, so I guess that covers part of it. However," He looks up at Vanderbeek with a serious expression, not the kind to suggest anger, more so worry then anything. "I would like to know why I woke over a 100 years late, if there is answer yet."

Pauses to listen to the Intercomm, frowning in thought as the captain finished.
"I missed something important, didn't I?"

"Pretty much the near destruction of the entire hip, and the only reason any of us are awake. far as I know, the ship has been hijacked when we reached Alpha Centauri, and then sent on our way into oblivion. We only woke up because the ship is programmed to wake crew in the event of a disaster..." VanderBeek takes a swig, grinning. "A reactor set to blow qualifies as one I'd say."

After a moment he continues.
"That Lance Corporal saved the ship, him and a few others. Somehow he got radiation poisoning though."

Raises an eyebrow "Well, that would qualify as an answer. Feel sorry for the Lance Corporal, though there are worse ways to buy the farm, I'd say." Empties what's left in his soda with a swig, placing the empty on the table and leaning back. "Well, sabotage and disaster, eh? Sounds absolutely lovely." Grins widely at Vanderbeek. "Glad I won that lottery. So, what does someone like myself do around the ship, Vander. Ah, may I call you that?"

"I prefer you call me Jan, or Morale officer VanderBeek." He smiles, but his eyes betray his seriousness.
"As for things to do, there's not much at the moment. I have this kid setting up the first shop on the recreational deck, so I can convince the captain he needs to wake more civilians. You know, since some of us are awake anyway. And honestly, since we have overshot our target by god knows how many lightyears anyway, we might as well start getting a life here. SO maybe you can help out with that. Otherwise there's probably plenty of tasks the captain or the major can assign you, but I'm not sure those are all that worthwhile."
He salutes in mockery, trying to copy a deep bass voice.
"You, guard that doorway! Do not move unless ordered to." VanderBeek shrugs.
"If that's your thing its okay i guess. No way to live if you ask me."

Mike notices the seriousness in VanderBeek's eyes, silently noting his reaction to being called Vander.

On the outside, he returns the mock salute and replies sarcastically. "Roger that, Sir! Boring as anything, Sir!" Chuckles as he lowers his hand, going to stand up. "Well, lets see if I can be of any help to Danny. After I've sorted all my stuff. Wouldn't want to step in on something important, now would I?"

Holds out his hand to Vanderbeek again. "Well, I'm sure Ill be seeing more of you later. Anything I need to know, or are all my bases covered?"

Edel finally entered the barrack's mess hall after what felt like eons, with sweat pearls decorating her forehead. Her t-shirt luckily did not suffer large sweat stains on the front. Her back must've been more damp than a rainforest.

She stopped to ask two passersby where Vanderbeek was, resting the weight on her shoulders on a nearby table. They pointed her to a table situated a few rows away. She thanked them, and attempted to stand back up. Her shoulders and legs burned, and she felt like something had definetly popped or cracked in her back. Slowly, she made her way to the man, quietly swearing in dutch. "Godverdomme. Achterlijk, debiel, kanker, idioot, klerelijer, pleurislijer, tyfusli- Oh...sir." She stops, wheezing. "You're...Vanderbeek...right?" Sitting down doesn't even dare to cross her mind this time.

Raven arrived shortly after Edel scanning the room and spotting Edel who appeared to be talking to a man hopefully that's the chap I need to see she marched across the room and sat at the table where Edel stood. Plonking her belongings in front of her. "You Vander..." She paused looking up at Edel who for some reason was still standing and whispered ”What was it... Tweek? Oh!" She turned back to the man... "You Vandersheek?" She stared at him expectantly.

"The one and only," Jan laughed as he gestured for both women to sit down. He looked immaculate in his classic vest, even though the location they met him did nothing to justify his elegant look. "Chief morale officer Jan VanderBeek, at your service."
He gestured for a private to bring them some tea and coffee.
"Who might you two be, and what can I do for you?"
To Edel he added: "Zulk taalgebruik staat niet netjes bij een dame. Het is maar goed dat we niet veel Nederlanders hebben hier."

Edel politely rejected the invitation to sit down with a gentle shake of her head. "If I sit down, I may never be able to lift this stupidly heavy bag again." After a pause, she added:"Nou, mijn definitie van ladylike is een viesmondige zeiler." She flashed a small smile, cheeky but nevertheless showing her embarrassment.

"If the bag is a problem I will have one of the enlisted troops bring it to your appartment, no problem," VanderBeek smiled. "Please, sit, have something to eat and drink. You must be hungry and thirsty coming right from Cryo."

"Both of you have a singles appartment on deck 12, just above the recreational strip that runs the length of the ship. Its not too big, but will do for a single woman. It has a seperate bedroom, a seperate shower and toilet, and a livingroom and kitchenette. Appartment 14 for Edel, and 15 for Millicent. They are across one another. Since there aren't many civilians awake yet there will probably be little for you ladies to do as of yet, but we can always use extra hands here in the mess hall, and I have a mister Chambers setting up the first civilian shop and restaurant as an alternative. So maybe he could use some staff.
Anything you ladies specialise in?"

She didn't know where her quarters were.

"Marco, where are my quarters?"
